En Vietnam, un joven se reúne con dos hombres en un campo abierto. Ahí los espera un supuesto amigo de ellos, quien estaba ansioso de entablar negocios con el muchacho. En Seúl, el detective Son Seok-do logra someter a un tipo que andaba amenazando con un cuchillo a dos mujeres dentro de una pequeña tienda.
Cuando Son y su superior, el capitán Jeon Il-man, son enviados a Vietnam para recoger a un delincuente, pronto descubren que lo que parecía un proceso de extradición se convierte en el inicio de una carrera frenética en donde enfrentarán a mercenarios y a un asesino despiadado decidido a todo con tal de obtener el dinero del rescate de su última víctima, el hijo de un acaudalado hombre de negocios.
Fuerza Bruta (The Roundup) es una película de acción coreana de 2022 dirigida por Lee Sang-yong y protagonizada por Ma Dong-seok, Choi Gwi-hwa y Son Seok-koo. Es la secuela del filme de 2017 Al margen de la ley y forma parte de la tetralogía cinematográfica que lleva su nombre.
A diferencia de su predecesora, Fuerza Bruta se enfoca más en la acción equilibrada con un ligero toque cómico que la hace disfrutable. El villano te genera una suerte de inquietud con su sola presencia, robándose cada escena de forma impecable. La química entre Ma Dong-seok y Son Seok-koo como enemigos hace que el filme se sienta como estar en medio de un conflicto entre el orden y el caos, con unas escenas finales entre el puño y el machete bastante cuidadas.
En cuanto a narrativa, ésta es sencilla y directa al grano, sin tantas pretensiones que la de entretener al espectador. Y si esta película es así de entretenida, ¿qué será de las otras dos secuelas? Habría que verlas.

In Vietnam, a young man reunites with two guys in an open field. They were expected by a supposed friend of theirs, eager to do business with the young man. In Seoul, detective Son Seok-do manages to subdue a man who was threatening two women with a knife inside a small shop.
When Son and his superior, captain Jeon Il-man, are send to Vietnam to pick a delinquent, they soon discover that what seemed like an extradition process turns into the start of a frantic chase in which they will face mercenaries and a ruthless killer determined to do anything to get the ransom money for his latest victim, the son of a wealthy businessman.
The Roundup is a 2022 Korean action film directed by Lee Sang-yong and starred by Ma Dong-seok, Choi Gwi-hwa y Son Seok-koo. It's the sequel of the 2017 film The Outlaws and is part of the four-part movie series of the same name.
Unlike its predecessor, The Roundup focuses more on balanced action with a slight comedic touch that makes it enjoyable. The villaun generates a sense of unease with his mere presence, stealing every scene flawlessly. The chemistry between Ma Dong-seok and Son Seok-koo as enemies makes the film feel like being in the middle of a conflict between order and chaos, with some carefully crafted final scenes involving fists and machetes.
When it comes to narrative, it's simple and straightforward, with no pretensions other than to entertain the viewer. And if this film is this entertaining, what will the other two sequels be like? We'll have to wait and see.
