"Trust Was a Fragile Thing" – My Favorite Quote

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

We've got a whole lot of quotes out there; to put it into perspective, they're countless because some words are even said naturally, and they become a driving force that pushes and inspires others. From quotes that are inspiring to those that are just plain deep to some that are thought-provoking, through the years I've been privileged to come across different quotes in books, songs, movies, and the like, and among all, one stands out the most. Since I've written about it before, I'll be picking the next that I like, and it's from Sidney Sheldon's novel "The Sands of Time", which says;

"Trust was a fragile thing, easily shattered and difficult to rebuild." - Sidney Sheldon's

The very first time I came across this quote while reading the novel, I had to stop and stare at the line over and over again because it hit different and hard, also because of how true it felt, not just in fiction according to the mind-blowing storyline but also in real life experience that I've lived through, and with the way I can relate to that sentence, it not only stays in my memory but goes on to become a microscope through which I view human relationships.

I'm sure you're wondering why such a thought-provoking quote is my favorite. Well, the reason for that isn't far-fetched; first, it's the fact that it captures the truth we often overlook. You see, trust is one of those things that takes a lot of time, effort, care, and consistency to build, but in just one moment of life, betrayal or neglect, it can crash down completely, and the irony of it all is that even if you end up being forgiven, rebuilding the broken trust is a long journey that may never return to its original state because the victim will always have an aura of doubt lingering about what you're capable of.

Despite having this as one of my favorite quotes, I've fallen victim to mistrust, and that led me to take this quote more seriously so as to safeguard my heart. The quote helps me to understand why it's necessary to be careful about trusting others and handle the trust others place in me with care so I won't take it for granted or treat it lightly. It also taught me to be cautious with the trust I let out, not out of fear, but with wisdom and discernment to know who deserves it and who doesn't.

Overall, the quote has through the years greatly affected me, especially regarding my dealings with friends, family, colleagues, and the like, serving as a reminder to be cautious of what is at stake if it happens to be breached, so in every interaction with others, I'm reminded of the need to be cautious, because according to the quote, "Trust was a fragile thing..." not because it's a line from one of my favorite authors, but because it's a life lesson.

Thanks so much for your time, I hope you had a good read!.

The way you shared your personal experience with this quote from the novel "The Sands of Time" by Sidney Sheldon was very honest and deeply moving.

That's good to know, thanks.

The most biggest betrayal of all time to me is not love or anything else but rather Trust. Because only a trusted person knows you well and things about you that others don't and a betrayal from such person is the most devastating and you're right to be cautious because life itself needs to be threaded lightly especially when dealing with people

That's absolutely right and one of the reasons we must be cautious of those we bestow our trust on.

Thanks for such a wonderful input.
