Adolescense [Review] ESP/ENG
A great story told in only four chapters. I must confess that despite having seen some people talk about this series in this community I had not been attracted to it until my niece and some family members started talking about it at a party we attended, but after I started watching it and delving into its story I realized how truly valuable it is for the times we are living in now.
Una gran historia contada en solo cuatro capítulos. Debo confesar que a pesar de haber visto que algunas personas han hablado sobre esta serie en esta comunidad yo no me había sentido atraído por ella hasta que mi sobrina y algunos familiares comenzaron a hablar de ella en una fiesta a la que asistimos, pero luego de empezar a verla y profundizar en su historia me di cuenta de lo realmente valiosa que es para los tiempos que estamos viviendo ahora.
To put you in context I can only ask you to imagine the following scenario, no matter if you are a parent or not, just imagine that very early in the morning you receive the unpleasant intrusion of the police in your home, shouting orders and holding guns in hand, probably in the middle of the confusion you would think it is some kind of assault, but it is not, the police identify themselves as such and get straight to the point, they open the door to the room of one of your relatives and ask him to accompany them to the police station under arrest, as he is the only suspect of nothing more and nothing less than a heinous crime, the murder of a girl. How can this be possible? You can't believe that your relative has done such a thing, after all he lives in your house, he has grown up with you, you have never set a bad example but after all the police seem to have evidence or something.
Para ponerte en contexto solo puedo pedirte que imagines el siguiente escenario, sin importar si eres padre o no, tan solo imagina que muy temprano por la mañana recibes la desagradable intromisión de la policía en tu hogar, gritando órdenes y sosteniendo las armas en la mano, probablemente en medio de la confusión pensarías que es algún tipo de asalto, pero no es así, la policía se identifica como tal y va directo al grano, abren la puerta de la habitación de uno de tus familiares y le piden que los acompañe a la comisaria bajo arresto, pues es el único sospechoso de nada más y nada menos que un crimen atroz, el asesinato de una chica. ¿Cómo puede ser posible? N puedes creer que tu familiar haya hecho tal cosa, después de todo vive en tu casa, se ha criado contigo, nunca has dado un mal ejemplo pero, después de todo la policía parece tener pruebas o algo así.
There are many things to say about this series, but I'll start with one of the things that caught my attention from the beginning, and that is the format in which it was filmed, since they used the sequence shot, which means that each episode was filmed in a single take without cuts, this is a double-edged sword because although it can reduce costs and you don't need big budgets, it is extremely difficult because at the slightest mistake the whole take could be ruined and you would have to start from 0.
Hay muchas cosas que decir acerca de esta serie, pero comenzaré por lo una de las cosas que más llamó mi atención desde el inicio, y es el formato en el que fue filmada, ya que usaron el plano secuencia, lo cuál significa que cada episodio fue filmado en una sola toma sin cortes, esto es un arma de doble filo porque si bien puede abaratar costos y no necesitas de grandes presupuestos, es tremendamente difícil ya que ante el más mínimo error toda la toma podría quedar arruinada y tendrías que iniciar desde 0.
But the most relevant thing here is the story itself and the way it is told, when watching the series at the beginning you question what is happening and many questions arise in your mind. Was all that police paraphernalia really necessary to catch a thirteen-year-old boy who was sleeping peacefully in his bed? I mean, it is true that the police may have already had certain information that Jamie's parents (the protagonist) and we as the audience did not know, but I think they should have been more tactful, at least out of respect for the family. To top it all off, Jamie's reaction is tremendously shocking and manages to move us, it is what you would expect a young man his age to do when exposed to so much stress, cry, get scared, get confused, which leads me to recognize the great acting ability of Owen Cooper to interpret his character (Jamie)
Pero lo más relevante aquí es la propia historia y la forma en la que está contada, al ver la serie al inicio te cuestionas lo que está sucediendo y muchas preguntas surgen a tu mente ¿De verdad era necesaria toda esa parafernalia policial para atrapar a un niño de trece años que dormía plácidamente en su cama? es decir, es cierto que la policía tal vez ya manejaba cierta información que los padres de Jamie (el protagonista) y nosotros como audiencia no sabíamos, pero pienso que debieron tener más tacto, al menos por respeto a la familia. Para colmo la reacción de Jamie es tremendamente impactante y logra conmovernos, es lo que esperas que haría un joven de su edad al estar expuesto ante tanto estrés, llorar, asustarse, confundirse, lo cuál me lleva a reconocer la gran habilidad actoral de Owen Cooper para interpretar a su personaje (Jamie)
Another inevitable question also arises: Did Jamie really do it? But continuing within the framework of Owen Cooper's performance, it's surprising to see how he assumes a different attitude as he feels cornered. The character begins to change nuances in an astonishing way, becoming darker. It's as if, through the interrogations, we have dug into his personality until we discover his dark and sinister core. We see him scared, confused, sad, and later sarcastic, aggressive, and violent, but never repentant.
También surge otra interrogante inevitable ¿Realmente Jamie lo hizo? pero continuando en el marco de la actuación de Owen Cooper, es sorprendente ver como asume otra actitud a medida que se siente acorralado, el personaje comienza a cambiar de matiz de forma asombrosa, se va oscureciendo. Es como si a través de los interrogatorios hubiésemos escarbado en su personalidad hasta descubrir su núcleo obscuro y siniestro, lo vemos asustado, confundido, triste y posteriormente sarcástico, agresivo y violento pero jamás arrepentido.
But amidst all this, the most important questions of the entire series arise: Could his parents or those around him have prevented this? Why are adults, including the police, so unaware of what happens among young people? In fact, one of the police detectives literally had to get help from his teenage son for the investigation because he was unfamiliar with the terminology young people used, including the use of emojis. This leads me to think that the world is evolving tremendously quickly, and we must evolve with it as well. Parents should become more involved in their children's education and lives in general. It's not about invading their space or privacy, but rather imposing natural boundaries for people who don't have clear-cut criteria. Jamie's own parents comment on them at the end of the series: What was Jamie doing on the computer for so long? Who was he talking to? The internet is a double-edged sword where you can find both culture and valuable content as well as destruction, but you need to be fully involved and not assume your child will raise themselves. At the same time, schools are to blame for not monitoring their students, for not giving the issue of bullying the importance it deserves, and the police for not getting involved until it's too late.
Pero en medio de todo esto surgen las interrogantes más importantes de toda la serie, ¿Pudieron sus padres o su entorno haber evitado esto? ¿Por qué los adultos, incluida la policía, son tan inconscientes de lo que ocurre entre los jóvenes? De hecho uno de los detectives de la policía tuvo que recibir ayuda literalmente de su hijo adolescente para la investigación porque desconocía la terminología que usaban los jóvenes, incluyendo el uso de emojis. Esto me lleva a pensar que el mundo evoluciona tremendamente rápido y del mismo modo debemos evolucionar con él, los padres deben involucrarse más en la educación y vida en general de sus hijos, no se trata de invadir su espacio o privacidad, sino de imponer limites naturales para personas que no tienen un criterio definido. Los propios padres de Jamie comentan sobre ellos al final de la serie, ¿Qué estuvo haciendo Jamie tanto tiempo en la computadora? ¿Con quien hablaba? El internet es un arma de doble filo donde se puede encontrar tanto cultura y contenido valioso como destrucción, pero es necesario involucrarse de lleno y no dar por sentado que tu hijo se criará solo, pero al mismo tiempo las escuelas tienen la culpa por no monitorear a sus estudiantes, por no darle la importancia que requiere el tema del Bullying, y la policía por no involucrarse al respecto sino cuando ya es demasiado tarde.
In short, it's a series worthy of in-depth analysis. It's an invitation to reflect on a reality that's becoming increasingly apparent in our society, perhaps a wake-up call for us to begin living together more as a family instead of wasting so much time virtually on social media. En fin, es una serie digna de analizar a profundidad, es una invitación a reflexionar acerca de una realidad que cada vez se hace más latente en nuestra sociedad, tal vez un llamado de atención para que comencemos a convivir más como familia en lugar de desperdiciar tanto tiempo conviviendo virtualmente en redes sociales. Es un tema sensible y difícil @victor2356 pero alejándonos del argumento de la serie en sí, no es menos cierto que el Internet ha ganado mucho terreno y es necesario desconectar para conectar. Gracias por tu aporte.
Saludos amigo, esta serie me pareció increíble por la manera cómo estás desarrollada y la trama que está tiene por el mismo hecho de ser algo muy fuerte y delicado, la cual está presente la toma de decisiones y a la vez poder buscar la mejor opción para así no salir tan dañados, pero a la final los padres siempre hará todo para que los niños no tengan problemas.
