Anna Karenina [Review] ESP/ENG
This film, like its literary namesake, tells the story of Anna, an aristocratic woman who travels to Moscow to see her brother and make him reconsider his infidelities. On the train to the city, she meets Count Vronsky, a young man with whom she is captivated, despite being married to and having a child with the politician Alexei Karenin. However, Anna becomes pregnant from her affair with Vronsky and decides to definitively abandon her husband and her former life, but it is on her, not on Vronsky, that the judgments of society fall.
Esta película al igual que su homónimo literario narra la vida de Anna, una mujer aristócrata que viaja a Moscú para ir a ver a su hermano y hacerlo recapacitar respecto a sus infidelidades, pero en el tren de camino a la ciudad conoce al conde Vronsky, un joven con el cual ella queda cautivada a pesar de estar casada y tener un hijo con el político Alekséi Karenin, sin embargo Anna queda embarazada de su affair con Vronsky y decide abandonar definitivamente a su esposo y su vida anterior pero es sobre ella y no sobre Vronsky donde caen los juicios de la sociedad.
The film isn't exactly faithful to its literary counterpart because no adaptation is ever 100% accurate; however, it's quite similar, maintaining the canon for the most part in terms of the story. The narrative format or style they used was very interesting, a bit unusual and different, which made it interesting, since most of the scenes took place in a theater.
La película no llega a ser exactamente fiel a su contraparte literaria porque ninguna adaptación llega a serlo al 100 por ciento, sin embargo se le asemeja bastante, mantienen el canon la mayor parte de del tiempo en cuanto al historia. El formato o estilo narrativo que usaron fue muy interesante, un poco raro y diferente que interesante, ya que la mayoría de las escenas transcurrían en un teatro.
Furthermore, much like the book, the plot prompts us to reflect on the hypocrisy of high society, which is almost always more rigid with women than with men, even when they have committed the same transgression or sin. Women were exposed to scorn, forced to isolate themselves from everything and everyone, which caused serious harm to their mental health, as evidenced by the character of Anna. Meanwhile, other unfaithful men, such as Vronsky or her own brother, seem to be rewarded by society.
Por otra parte, al igual que el libro la trama nos hace reflexionar acerca de la hipocresía de la alta sociedad que casi siempre suele ser más rígida con las mujeres que con los hombres, a pesar de haber cometido la misma falta o pecado. Las mujeres se veían expuestas al escarnio, obligadas a aislarse de todo y de todos, lo cuál causaba un grave perjuicio a su salud mental, y es lo que se evidencia a través del personaje de Anna, mientras que otros hombres infieles como Vronsky o el propio hermanos de ella a los que la sociedad más bien parece premiar.
The set design and costumes were excellent; they truly capture the majesty of the 19th-century Russian aristocracy. Undoubtedly aesthetically beautiful and striking, it's a masterpiece that I've wanted to see adapted into a film ever since I read the book. And although I've seen several versions, I think this one, the 2012 version, is the best, at least in my opinion.
La escenografía y el vestuario estuvieron muy bien, realmente representa la majestuosidad de la aristocracia rusa del siglo XIX, sin lugar a dudas estéticamente hermoso y llamativo, es una obra maestra que desde que leí el libro quise ver representada en el cine, y aunque he visto varias versiones, me parece que esta, la del 2012 es la mejor, al menos en mi opinión.
