Today I'd like to share with you the review of a film that caught my attention because of its title, which in Spanish translates as "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas." However, since my nephew had talked to me a lot about it, telling me that it's full of reflections and values, I felt drawn to the idea of watching it, and he didn't think twice about reproducing it and having us watch it together.
Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes la reseña de una película que me llamó muchísimo la atención debido al título, ya que en español se traduce "Quiero comerme tu páncreas" pero como mi sobrino me había hablado mucho de ella diciéndome que está llena de muchas reflexiones y valores me sentí atraído por idea de verla, y él no lo pensó dos veces para reproducirla y hacer que la viéramos juntos.
The protagonist of the story is an unfriendly and antisocial boy who does not like to interact with anyone, only with his books, for this reason he works in the library, on one occasion while waiting to be seen at the hospital he gets a diary, and without being able to avoid curiosity he reads part of it, discovering that whoever wrote it has a terminal illness that affects his pancreas, suddenly he realizes that the one who returned for the diary was a girl who was his classmate and she asks him not to reveal anything to anyone, to which he responds with antipathy that he is not interested in talking to anyone, so her secret is safe, and this answer saddens her because in reality she is secretly in love with him, for that reason she decides to spend more time in the library to try to get closer to him
El protagonista de la historia es un chico antipático y asocial al que no le gusta relacionarse con nadie, únicamente con sus libros, por esta razón trabaja en la biblioteca, en una ocasión mientras espera ser atendido en el hospital se consigue un diario, y sin poder evitar la curiosidad lee parte de él, descubriendo que quien lo escribió tiene una enfermedad terminal que afecta su páncreas, de pronto él se da cuenta que quien regresó por el diario era una chica que era su compañera de clases y ella le pide que no revele nada a nadie, a lo que él responde con antipatía que no le interesa hablar con nadie, así que su secreto está a salvo, y esta respuesta la entristece porque en realidad ella está enamorada de él en secreto, por esa razón decide pasar más tiempo en la biblioteca para intentar lograr un acercamiento con él.
Little by little I have realized that there are animated stories with a lot of depth, so eventually I give them a chance, in this case something that caught my attention besides the title, is that unlike other stories I have seen, the main characters are very different from each other and do not seem to have any affinity: he is reserved, she is extroverted, he prefers to be alone and she loves being surrounded by friends, however, as they spend time together there is a wonderful feedback that allows them to evolve through empathy, he learns to open his heart and express his feelings in the face of the imminent possibility of losing her.
Poco a poco me he dado cuenta que hay historias de animación con muchísima profundidad, así que eventualmente les voy dando una oportunidad, en este caso algo que llamó mi atención además del título, es que a diferencia de otras historias que he visto, los personajes principales son muy diferentes entre sí y no parecen guardar ninguna afinidad: él es reservado, ella extrovertida, él prefiere estar solo y ella ama estar rodeada de amigos, sin embargo, a medida que pasan tiempo juntos existe una maravillosa retroalimentación que les permite evolucionar mediante la empatía, él aprende a abrir su corazón y expresar sus sentimiento ante la posibilidad inminente de perderla.
At some point he receives devastating news that goes far beyond what he had expected due to Sakura's illness, this news knocks him to the ground emotionally and makes him go back on everything he had evolved, and this happens when the individual does not have good management of emotions and does not know how to channel the pain, but at the same time I am pleased to see that he gathered strength to fulfill a precise objective that would demonstrate what he was made of.
En algún punto él recibe una notica devastadora que va mucho más allá de lo que él había esperado debido a la enfermedad de Sakura, esta noticia lo tumba al piso emocionalmente y lo hace retroceder de todo lo que había evolucionado, y esto sucede cuando el individuo no tiene un buen manejo de emociones y no sabe canalizar el dolor, pero al mismo tiempo me complace ver que él reunió fuerzas para cumplir un objetivo certero que demostraría de qué estaba hecho.
The story at the beginning shows us a prolepsis that allows us to glimpse where the events are heading and for that reason in a certain way we already know what will happen to Sakura, which in turn prevents us from creating false expectations about some miraculous cure, because the objective of the film is not to save a hopeless character, but to learn from him as much as possible.
La historia al inicio nos muestra una prolepsis que nos permite vislumbrar hacia donde se encaminan los hechos y por esa razón de cierta manera ya sabemos lo que ocurrirá con Sakura, lo que a su vez impide que creemos falsas expectativas acerca de alguna cura milagrosa, porque el objetivo de la película no es salvar un personaje desahuciado, sino aprender de él cuanto sea posible
This story confirms to me that things don't happen by chance, that everything has a reason, since the goal is for human beings to learn from each other and from every situation that happens to them, discovering that even in negative things there can be something positive that makes you evolve and grow morally, emotionally and spiritually.
Esta historia me confirma que las cosas no pasan por casualidad, que todo tiene un porqué, ya que el objetivo es que los seres humanos aprendan unos de otros y de cada situación que le acontece, descubriendo que incluso en las cosas negativas puede haber algo positivo que te haga evolucionar y crecer moral, emocional y espiritualmente.
Still, I can't deny that after watching it, I was left with a feeling similar to when I saw Grave of the Fireflies. That's why I consider them films that, although they are good and have great reflections on life, I can only watch once, especially because of the feeling of helplessness that it generated in me that what happened to Sakura had nothing to do with her illness, and the viewer has no information about it, this left me bewildered. Even so, I still recommend the film because it is truly worth it for the powerful message it leaves us with.
Aún así no les puedo negar que después de verla me quedé con una sensación parecida a cuando vi La Tumba de las Luciérnagas, por eso las considero películas que, aunque son buenas y tienen grandes reflexiones para la vida, solo puedo ver una vez, sobre todo por el hecho de la impotencia que me generó que lo que le ocurrió a Sakura no tuvo nada que ver con su enfermedad, y el espectador no tiene ninguna información al respecto, esto me dejó desconcertado. Aún así de igual manera recomiendo la película porque realmente vale la pena por el poderoso mensaje que nos deja.

I also wanted to see this movie because of the title, it caught my attention haha That disease is very aggressive and very difficult to cure, so I already knew I had to get the tissues ready because I would cry, but I agree with you about what happened to Sakura 😲 I was expecting anything but that and without any information 💔 I think it was a bit rushed, but at the same time, I think the author wanted to show that it's not always an illness that ends a life, but rather that it takes many turns, and at any moment, things can change in ways you never imagined...
Even so, the movie is very nice! 😢

It's a heart wrenching story, I didn't like the ending at all because it made me sad. I really wanted something else from this anime. But I guess not every anime will be according to my choices. Anyway, I love this anime very much. I like your point of view, well-written!
