Guido is a hopeless romantic, but at the same time he's one of those charismatic guys who are impossible to hate. With his sense of humor and insight, he not only won the heart of his beloved but of the entire audience. However, he lives in a complicated time; being Jewish in Europe back in the 30s or 40s was very difficult. Nevertheless, Guido and his wife manage to build a beautiful family with their son Joshua, until the Nazi Germans invade beautiful Italy and everything falls apart. Guido and little Joshua are captured, while his wife surrenders voluntarily so she can stay close to them.
Guido es un romántico empedernido, pero al mismo tiempo es de esos tipos carismáticos a los que es imposible odiar, con su sentido del humor y perspicacia no solo conquistó el corazón de su amada sino de toda la audiencia, no obstante él vive una época complicada, ser judío en Europa por allá en los años 30 o 40 era algo muy difícil, sin embargo Guido y su esposa logran formar una familia muy linda con su hijo Josue, hasta que simplemente los alemanes nazis invaden la bella Italia y todo se desmorona, capturan a Guido y al pequeño Josue mientras su esposa se entrega voluntariamente para poder permanecer cerca de ellos.
But what makes this film special is that it doesn't feel like just another Holocaust or World War II movie. It doesn't feel overwhelming or heavy, but rather like a comedy, even though it deals with a serious subject. This is all thanks to the resilient and courageous attitude of the main character, Guido, who uses his sense of humor to try to protect his son's mind in the middle of the concentration camp, even though we, as adults and viewers, know perfectly well what is happening. His ability to remain steadfast despite the pressure and fear he must have felt is astonishing, especially in the final scene, which, of course, I won't mention or describe to avoid spoilers.
Pero lo que hace especial a esta película es que no se siente como una más de esas películas sobre holocausto y segunda guerra mundial, no se siente abrumadora y pesada, sino más bien como una comedia aunque trate un tema serio, y todo se debe a la resiliente y valiente actitud del personaje principal, Guido, quién mediante su sentido del humor pretende proteger la mente de su hijo en medio del campo de concentración, a pesar de que uno como adulto y espectador sabe perfectamente lo que está aconteciendo. Es sorprendente su capacidad para mantenerse firme a pesar de la presión y el miedo que debió haber sentido, en especial en la escena final que por supuesto n mencionaré ni describiré para evitar hacer spoilers.
The entire film is consistent with the title, because that is precisely what the protagonist intends to tell his son, and us, the audience: that despite all the horrors that may exist around us, it is worth living every second, because life also brings happy and beautiful moments that help us survive adversity, so yes, definitely Life is Beautiful.
Toda la película va en cohesión con el título, porque es precisamente eso lo que el protagonista pretende decirle a su hijo, y a nosotros, la audiencia, que a pesar de todos los horrores que pueda haber a nuestro alrededor, vale la pena vivir cada segundo, porque la vida también trae momentos felices y hermosos que nos ayudan a sobrevivir en la adversidad, así que sí, definitivamente La vida es bella.
It's a film brimming with feelings and emotions that are hard to ignore. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you do.
Es una película cargada de sentimientos y emociones difíciles de ignorar. Si aún no la han visto, yo de verdad les recomiendo hacerlo.

Definitivamente es una película para ver en familia, por el mensaje que nos deja. Aunque todo parezca que se nos viene abajo, lo último que debe doblegarse es la voluntad de vivir. Saludos @victor2356
