Princess Kaguya [ESP/ENG] Review

Yesterday I had the opportunity to watch a beautiful animated film on Netflix, with a different format than what I've seen on other occasions, but what caught my attention most was the simplicity with which a beautiful story, rich in values, can be told, which extols, among other things, the importance of being fully happy and that happiness lies not in great luxuries, but in the simplest details.
Ayer me di la oportunidad de ver a través de Netflix una animación preciosa, con un formato diferente a lo que he visto en otras ocasiones, pero lo que más me llamó la atención fue la simplicidad con la que se puede contar una historia preciosa, rica en valores, donde se exalta, entre otras cosas, la importancia de ser feliz a plenitud y que la felicidad no radica en los grandes lujos, sino en los detalles más simples.
It all begins when an old peasant cuts some bamboo and finds a little girl the size of a thumb. Surprised by such a find, he takes her home for his wife to see. In a very short time, the girl transforms into a normal-sized baby, and so on, she develops and grows in an alarmingly short time, until she finally transforms into a young girl. The old man, now become the girl's adoptive father, decides to use the treasure he also found in the bamboo to buy a palace and hire servants to take care of his family, especially his daughter. Soon, news spread throughout the kingdom that a beautiful young woman lived there. So all the men wanted to marry her, even the emperor himself. But the young princess became increasingly unhappy, until she finally discovers and accepts that she does not belong to this world and therefore cannot remain in it.
Todo comienza cuando un campesino anciano corta unos trozos de bambú y allí encuentra a una niña del tamaño de un pulgar, sorprendido ante tal hallazgo la lleva a su casa para que su esposa la vea. En poquísimo tiempo la niña se transforma en un bebé de tamaño normal, y así sucesivamente se va desarrollando y creciendo en un tiempo alarmantemente corto, hasta que finalmente se transforma en una jovencita. El anciano, ahora devenido en el padre adoptivo de la niña, decide utilizar el tesoro que también halló en el bambú para comprar un palacio y contratar sirvientes para que cuiden de su familia, en especial de su hija, y en poco tiempo se riega por todo el reino la noticia de que una hermosa joven vivía allí, así que todos los hombres querían casarse con ella, incluso el propio emperador, pero la joven princesa se fue tornando cada vez en un ser más infeliz, hasta que finalmente descubre y acepta que no pertenece a este mundo y por lo tanto no puede permanecer en él.
The film is beautiful because it highlights the value that happiness and love have for a person, these elements allow her to lead a stable and healthy life, to enjoy it to the fullest, however Kaguya was only happy while she lived in the countryside with her elderly parents, when she could run barefoot in the grass, when she was not forbidden to see her friends, when the wind blew in her face and she did not have to follow strict codes of etiquette. All these conventions were invented by man but they are not part of his own nature, however Kaguya is different, simpler, more organic, closer to nature for the simple reason that she is alien to this world, she comes from heaven, from the sacred, that is why she is more spiritual and free, although her parents did not want to hurt her, they offered her a life of luxury and wealth because they believed that with that they would make her happy, since that is what man learns from childhood, that money removes you from difficulties and therefore brings you happiness.
La película es hermosa porque en ella se resalta el valor que tiene la felicidad y el amor para una persona, estos elementos hacen que pueda llevar una vida estable y saludable, que pueda disfrutar a plenitud de ella, sin embargo Kaguya solo era feliz mientras vivía en el campo con sus ancianos padres, cuando podía correr descalza en la hierba, cuando no le prohibían ver a sus amigos, cuando el viento soplaba en su cara y no debía seguir estrictos códigos de etiqueta. Todos estos convencionalismos fueron inventados por el hombre pero no forman parte de su propia naturaleza, sin embargo Kaguya es diferente, más simple, más orgánica, más cercana a la naturaleza por la simple razón de que ella es ajena a este mundo, viene del cielo, de lo sagrado, por eso es más espiritual y libre, aunque sus padres no querían lastimarla, ellos le ofrecieron una vida de lujos y riqueza porque creían que con eso la harían feliz, ya que eso es lo que aprende el hombre desde la niñez, que el dinero te aparta de las dificultades y por lo tanto te brinda la felicidad.
There's a very powerful yet beautiful scene I'd like to highlight, where she feels overwhelmed by the pressure others exert on her decisions. She feels oppressed by society's expectations, so she decides to run away in search of her own identity. This is perfectly normal because when they took her to that palace and isolated her even from her friends, they didn't ask her if that's what she wanted. Under these circumstances, the person begins to ask themselves: Who am I? What do I really want for my life? Where should I go?
Hay una escena muy fuerte pero hermosa al mismo tiempo que me gustaría resaltar, y es una donde ella se siente abrumada ante la presión que ejercen los demás sobre sus decisiones, se siente oprimida por las expectativas de la sociedad, así que decide huir en la búsqueda de su propia identidad, y esto es absolutamente normal porque cuando la llevaron a ese palacio y la aislaron hasta de sus amigos, a ella no le preguntaron si eso era lo que ella quería. Bajo estas circunstancias la persona comienza a preguntarse ¿Quién soy yo? ¿Qué quiero en realidad para mi vida? ¿Hacia donde debo ir?
In this way, the importance of freedom, love, and respect for oneself, one's ideals, and nature are explored. It has many historical, folkloric, and cultural elements unique to Japan (as expected), and that enriches the narrative. So, it was one of the elements that caught my attention in this film, as well as its aesthetic, where whites, charcoal lines, and watercolor colors predominate. This makes it more of a work of art than a film, because the characters' emotions are expressed precisely through their lines, something that is appreciated today where everything is digital, and in this way, the essence of art is somewhat lost.
De esta manera se explora la importancia de la libertad, el amor y respeto por uno mismo, por sus ideales y por la naturaleza. Tiene muchos elementos históricos, folclóricos y culturales propios de Japón (como no podía ser de otra manera) y eso enriquece la narrativa, así que fue uno de los elementos que me llamó la atención de esta película, así como su estética donde predominan los blancos, las líneas de carboncillo y los colores de acuarela, lo cuál la convierte en una obra de arte más que una película, porque precisamente las emociones de sus personajes se expresan a través de los trazos, algo que se aprecia hoy en día donde todo es digital y de esta manera se pierde un poco la esencia del arte.
In short, it's a film worth seeing, a visual and narrative delight that I recommend giving a chance. So far, I could say it's my favorite animated film.
En resumen, es una película digna de ver, es una delicia visual y narrativa a la que recomiendo darle una oportunidad, hasta ahora podría decir que es mi película de animación favorita.

Una de las películas más hermosas en todos los sentidos, con una musicalización preciosa, una estética radiante y única, que atrapa al espectador con tan solo echar un vistazo, y una trama bellísima que nos enseña a valorar lo simple, lo cotidiano y lo pequeño, entender que la felicidad no está en la riqueza y al abundancia, sino en los pequeños detalles que nos traen paz y esa sensación de libertad. Así es, hija, esta película me sorprendió mucho y la verdad es que la volvería a ver muchas más veces porque siento que es de esas que cuando la ves más de una vez siempre terminas encontrando más cosas para analizar.
