Saint Young Men [Review] ESP/ENG
Yesterday I had the opportunity to rewatch a film that at the time caught my attention, and now that I'm watching it again I was able to reconnect with the emotions it generated in me the first time. It caught my attention because it was different from what I had seen previously. It's about a multiverse, so to speak, in which the two most important religious figures in the world, Buddha and Jesus, coexist and live together. They both decided to go on vacation to Tokyo and try to adapt to the standards of modern life and its challenges, as if they were any two mortals.
Ayer tuve la oportunidad de volver a ver una película que en su momento llamó mucho mi atención, y ahora que vuelvo a verla pude reconectarme con las emociones que me generó la primera vez, llamó mi atención por el hecho de ser diferente a lo que yo había vito previamente, se trata de un multiverso, por llamarlo de alguna manera, en el que coexisten y conviven las dos figuras religiosas más importantes del mundo, Buda y Jesús, ambos decidieron irse de vacaciones a Tokio e intentan adaptarse a los estándares de la vida moderna y sus desafíos, como si se tratase de dos mortales cualquiera.
Obviously, by mixing these two characters in a different context, in everyday life, trying to adapt to it, many hilarious situations begin to arise, but the amazing thing is that the film is made with respect, so it is not offensive to either of the two religions represented (Christianity and Buddhism) it simply presents both from a more human perspective, as a way of connecting precisely with humanity, after all, at one time both were mortal. Jesus is more idealistic and tender, Buddha a little more pragmatic and rational, but both are the perfect complement in this film.
Obviamente al mezclar a estos dos personajes dentro de un contexto diferente, en la vida cotidiana, tratando de adaptarse a ella, comienzan a surgir muchas situaciones hilarantes, pero lo asombroso es que la película está hecha desde el respeto, así que no resulta ofensivo para ninguna de las dos religiones representadas (Cristianismo y Budismo) simplemente se presenta a ambos desde una perspectiva más humana, como una forma de conectar precisamente con la humanidad, después de todo en su momento ambos fueron mortales. Jesús es más idealista y tierno, Buda un poco más pragmático y racional, per ambos son el complemento perfecto en este film.
Another point to highlight in this film is that it shows the fact that both characters, although they have their differences, are much more similar than we would have imagined, both are pacifists and kind, they care about the environment and the well-being of others, they promote peace and forgiveness to be in harmony, so despite being full of funny scenes, the film highlights the values of love, compassion and justice shared by the teachings of Jesus and Buddha, therefore we could take it as proof that we can live together in harmony in this world regardless of our differences of race, religion, political or social position.
Otro punto a resaltar en esta película es que se evidencia el hecho de que ambos personajes, si bien tienen sus diferencias, son mucho más parecidos de lo que hubiésemos imaginado, ambos son pacifistas y amables, se preocupan por el entorno y por el bienestar del otro, promueven la paz y el perdón para estar en armonía, así que a pesar de estar llena de escenas graciosas, la película resalta los valores de amor, compasión y justicia que comparten las enseñanzas de Jesús y Buda, por lo tanto podríamos tomarlo como una prueba de que podemos convivir en armonía en este mundo sin importar nuestras diferencias de raza, religión, posición política o social.
