Heylooo Cubs, welcome or welcome back to my blog 🥹✨.
For today's episode, I'll be doing a review on another anime whose protagonist is a kid 🥲✍️.
Lately, it seems like these kinds of animes are a breath of fresh air because of the refreshing feel it gives to the viewer; it's new and a change of plot.
Finding a show so pure it touches that part of innocence within us all that is so present within a child. Learning a lot about ourselves and who we want to be from the story 🥲😣.

So, today's pick is "Barakamon."
Genre; Slice of Life, Comedy, Drama
Episodes: 12
Main Child character: Naruto Kotoishi (6 years old).
Setting: A remote island in Japan.
REVIEW PROPER 🥹✨:
BARAKAMON- A true gem
This is a story about a hot-headed young calligrapher, Seishuu Handa. When he is criticized, he is exiled to a remote island to cool off.
There, he meets Naru Kotoishi, a spirited 6-year-old girl who, like a whirlwind, spun into his life. It was unplanned and unwanted, but the unlikely bond becomes the heart of the story: a story about art, humility, and rediscovering joy.

Naru wasn't just a comic relief. She stole the spotlight with her raw energy. I don't know if it was in the way her curiosity or her unfiltered honesty challenged Handa's perfectionism.... The innocence of her character just had a way of forcing adults around her to reevaluate themselves. You know, there's something about children; that unselfconscious essence they have.
The way they make you coo and aww without even trying.

The way that their curiosities wander, asking for reflection of actions. They don't have any hidden agenda or purpose for anything. They just want to know or make you make them understand.
I remember when my 6-year-old cousin asked why I was angry at one time, I told her it was complicated. The actual reason was that an adult then judged a case wrongly. You might ask me how I knew, but I knew I was in right 🙂. A boy was harassing me with words because I told him I wasn't interested when he asked for my number. When he quacked me with his shoulder, I pushed him and warned him to mind himself, but that was when the adult came in and misunderstood everything. She thought I was disturbing the meeting by "flirting" with him. I tried to explain, but she didn't even let me, i was embarrassed as she shunned me and asked me to switch seats and guess what? The boy wasn't shunned at all. Anyways, it turned out that He was known in the place, and the rest was history. When the presentation was done and I took my cousin out for ice cream, was when she asked. I told her that I was misjudged. And what she told me made me reflect, she asked first, "Is there anything you can do about it?" I said no. Then, when she said,"If there's nothing you can do about it, then you make sure it doesn't happen to someone else. Mom says people don't care if you smile or frown. In the end, you might start to fuss over wrinkles(consequences of frowning she implied). So don't let anything wipe the smile of your face. " I swear she sounded really smart, I was surprised at what she said. Even though it wasn't much, I felt much better eventually.

One of the key themes of this anime was identity. Handa's journey was about finding the balance between technical skill and emotional expression was the point. Another one was in personal growth. The serenity of the environment, I think, had a role in it 🥲. Revealing vulnerability, letting you be you for you. Stripping away ego, confidence, and you know, just being raw. Letting go of the facade or walls you had up around people.
Healing was the key theme ✨. Ever since Naru, Handa began to open up as a person and as an artist.
REASONS BARAKAMON DESERVES ATTENTION 🥹🥲...

I love the authentic portrayal of the child protagonist. It wasn't exaggerated it was authentic, natural, no melodrama, it was just life.

I also love the subtle but powerful development of the characters. It was a growth that felt earned, not forced.
I can not stress enough about the gorgeous animation of rural Japan-the lush fields, seaside cliffs, and intimate spaces.
FINAL VERDICT 😩✨:

Barakamon doesn’t have to scream to be heard. It whispers gently until you're listening with your whole heart 🥹🥲🩷. It shows that children can be a catalyst for genuine adult transformation; a truth that nobody, even adults know it all. You can still get lost even at 35, or not even know what your purpose is at 42 🙂.
In life, we need o keep learning, unlearned, and relearning. We need people, no matter the age bracket, but at the same time, we should remember that some people can make you while others can mar you.
Rating: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)
A must-watch for fans of quiet, emotional storytelling with real laughs and a big heart.
TYSSSM Cubs 🥹💕 for making it to the end of this review.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and see you in the next one 😇✨✍️.
