Ozark - A Netflix Drama Series Review 🎦
Ozark is a series of American drama that relates the life of Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) as a financial advisor who gets involved with a Mexican gang, this leads him to have to go along with his family to Ozark to try to solve things and satisfy The needs of a mafia client (money laundering).
It consists of three seasons of ten episodes each with a duration of approximately sixty minutes each of them. While the latest forth season with 7 episodes streaming on Netflix from 21st Jan.
The series caught my attention because I had heard about it years ago at the Emmy Awards. It competed in several categories and between it as Best Actor Jason Bateman. The way to act so particular from him makes me link very fast with the characters he plays, where he is always sarcastic, humorous and with a tranquility without equal.
Nothing else to start the series gives us an incredible argument about money, something that fascinated me fully. The series goes entertaining what is money laundering, Mexican mafia, local businesses and hunger for power. In turn, how to negotiate successfully so that both parties are benefited.
Marty, who is a successful financial advisor with peculiarities with respect to numbers and their analogy. He ends up linked to one of the thugs of Navarro's poster. At the first meeting of him asks him to analyze some balance of accounts, to which Marty for the insight of him affirms that they are stealing him. This due to a series of patterns that he discovers in decimal numbers. After this, he is invited to the house of Del (the bully who hires him and becomes his boss later) where he offers a glass of whiskey and in front of him he sees as they murdered the previous accountant of Del.
There begins its history with the poster, which is very much complicated by Marty's partner because it steals from. In an almost desperate action in the middle of an execution that ends with the life of his partner, Marty says to which he will wash his money in Ozark. That there is a great business opportunity. Accept and approve Marty's departure from Chicago to Ozark.
Being in Ozark, little by little Marty is revealing to him what was happening and for whom he worked. The rebellious adolescent daughter, the curious son of him and his wife's wife are trapped in this drama and end up supporting him as a family. Of course, always with the internal problems of it (as it happens in any family).
The first season shows us how is the money laundering business, the characters that will take important roles in the series and the conflicts that are generated in each chapter. I forgot to mention that since the first episode, the FBI is after Marty to go against the Navarro sign. The season closes with an end that leaves us all with his mouth open and turns us on Hype for the next.
In which new objectives are established to be able to wash 50 million dollars, with the help of Wendy (Marty's wife) getting hands on the work and start doing larger business with the locals. The FBI does not stop being behind them and a new boss appears for Marty by the poster. In this season Marty does the impossible to satisfy everyone and thus be able to save his neck.
Already in the last season premiered, everything seems to go in order. The objectives proposed in the previous one were fulfilled and now only must perform a good money laundering. Things are complicated with the inclusion of the FBI at Marty's work, Wendy's brother and the war that develops between Navarro's poster against others. Again ends with an impressive ending, one that made me scream. Super recommended this series.
