If you buy a 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray, you usually get both the 4K and the Blu-Ray version, i.e. twice the number of discs, which is nice :)

TitelBlu-Ray4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray
Matrix Resurrections (2021)EUR 12.64EUR 20.16
The Batman (2022)EUR 13.07EUR 20.14
Dune (2021)EUR 10.07EUR 20.14

Was sagt ihr dazu?

"4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray" contain both versions, twice the number of discs.

English

When you buy a "4K Ultra HD" Blu-Ray, you usually get both the 4K and Blu-Ray version.

You can tell if a 4K version contains both discs by looking at the package, usually there is a banner "4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray" on the front or on the back at the disc specs should include both 4K UHD and Blu-Ray (two rows).

You get the movie or series twice, which is nice and makes the move to 4K easier. Actually, it makes sense to buy the 4K version in my opinion. However, this is usually more expensive.

Here is an example from Amazon

TitleBlu-Ray4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray
Matrix Resurrections (2021)EUR 12.64EUR 20.16
The Batman (2022)EUR 13.07EUR 20.14
Dune (2021)EUR 10.07EUR 20.14

And the 4K UHD discs have one more advantage: There are no more region codes. Finally.

Before, you couldn't play Blu-Rays from the US or Japan in the EU and vice versa, which was just ridiculous.

What do you think? Have you ever bought a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray?

How both they work?

avatar

Sometimes something that comes at a lower price and offers almost the same benefits is better.

avatar

Good point, probably 4K is not really needed unless you have a giant TV or projector.

(Edited)

hmm, you've very nice idea to utilizing the disc's.

It costs a bit more but it makes a lot of sense. That's what I tend to buy anymore.

avatar

I haven't bought it yet but the way you have described its benefits I am thinking of buying it sometime soon.

avatar

I haven't gotten one before but it's great to know that it makes more sense to buy the 4K version even though they are quite expensive.

Thank you for sharing

Is the cost to buy 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray justifiable?

avatar

It really depends on personal preference and price, sometimes the 4K version cost roughly the same as the Blu-Ray. But you don't really need 4K unless you have a giant TV or projector in my opinion.

Double promo in that scenario

I don't think I would buy a 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray. It just doesn't seem that useful to me because I think the lower quality is fine enough as it is. I probably wouldn't realize the difference on my TV.
