Big Game | A frenetic adventure for the survival of the president and the opportunity to become a hero | Movies Review [EN/ES]

You don't always find yourself in a situation where you're relying on a kid to survive a hunt. In this sense, Big game is a film that offers large doses of action with some comedic overtones. Samuel L. Jackson's performance is simply incredible, putting himself at the feet of the President of the United States.

No siempre te encuentras en una situación en la que dependes de un niño para sobrevivir a una cacería. En este sentido, Big game es una película que ofrece grandes dosis de acción con algunos matices de comedia. La interpretación de Samuel L. Jackson es simplemente increíble, poniéndose en los pies del presidente de los Estados Unidos.

The plot invites us into the life of a president who seems to have it all, and that luxury is an everyday thing. However, in parallel we explore the contrast through the life of a 13-year-old boy living in Finland. Apparently, his community is very faithful to the ancestral traditions, so after a long time, it will be time to show what he is made of... Or in short; to become a man.

From the young man's perspective, feelings seem to influence him a lot, when he must go through an initiation test to prove his maturity, bringing with him the head of a deer. He will have only a bow and arrow, in a forest, which he is almost certainly familiar with, but which will be a truly challenging experience. The other perspective is that of a president who has many comforts, and perhaps has not done enough to change the course of the country.

La trama nos invita a conocer la vida de un presidente que parece tenerlo todo, y que el lujo es cosa de todos los días. Sin embargo, paralelamente exploramos el contraste a través de la vida de un joven de 13 años que vive en Finlandia. Al parecer, su comunidad es muy fiel a las tradiciones ancestrales, por lo que luego de mucho tiempo, habrá llegado el momento de demostrar de qué está hecho... O en resumidas cuentas; convertirse en un hombre.

Desde la perspectiva del joven, los sentimientos parecen influir mucho en él, cuando debe de atravesar una prueba de iniciación para demostrar su madurez, trayendo consigo la cabeza de un venado. Solo contará con un arco y una flecha, en un bosque, que si bien lo conoce casi con certeza, será una experiencia realmente desafiante. La otra perspectiva es la de un presidente que tiene muchas comodidades, y que tal vez no ha hecho lo suficiente como para cambiar el curso del país.

Además, los ingredientes de conspiración y traición no se hacen esperar cuando nos damos cuenta de que a bordo, hay personas del servicio secreto dispuestas a traicionar su confianza. Este es el comienzo de una aventura frenética que nos enganchará de inmediato al televisor. Pues todo sucede bajo un contexto en el que el avión presidencial, con el presidente viajando a una reunión de gran importancia, es derribado por terroristas.

President Moore's escape reflects how in a split second life takes a U-turn. A capsule with him inside lands in a forest area where he will be found by Oskari, the young man who seeks to excel in his community, although no one seems to have any faith in him. Although from the first moment we see that his personality is very intense, reflecting that this is a young man who is willing to do anything to achieve his desire to become a great hunter. Of course, faced with this new situation, he will realize what would really make his community happy, and how he would represent it.

Morris is probably the mind that manages the group of terrorists, and even has an agreement with them, which is called “The Big Hunt”. We realize, later and with much surprise, that everything was planned from the very beginning. It is about a secret service agent who has had a previous situation where he almost lost his life. Perhaps this is the root of why he assumed to resort to treason against the president.

El escape del presidente Moore refleja como en un segundo la vida da un giro de media vuelta. Una cápsula con él dentro aterriza en una zona del bosque donde será encontrado por Oskari, el joven que busca sobresalir en su comunidad, aunque nadie parece siquiera algo de tenerle fe. Aunque desde un primer momento vemos que su personalidad es muy intensa, reflejando que se trata de un joven que está dispuesto a todo para lograr su deseo de convertirse en un gran cazador. Eso sí, ante esta nueva situación, se dará cuenta de qué es lo que realmente haría feliz a su comunidad, y cómo la representaría.

Morris probablemente sea la mente que maneja al grupo de terroristas, e incluso, tiene un acuerdo con ellos, a lo que se le llama "La caza mayor". Nos damos cuenta, posteriormente y con mucha sorpresa, de que todo estuvo planificado desde un primer momento. Se trata de un agente del servicio secreto que ha tenido una situación previa en donde casi pierde la vida. Tal vez esta sea la raíz del por qué asumió acudir a la traición contra el presidente.

The film itself delivers a lot of action, while maintaining the level of adventure that characterizes it. It is a visual treat with many effects that make the experience very positive. We also realize that the conspiracy comes from inside the presidential system, which translates into the existence of someone who will try to keep hidden that which links them, regardless of whether or not it should be necessary to get rid of someone who is becoming suspicious, such as the investigation of a CIA agent.

La película en sí nos entrega mucha acción, pero manteniendo el nivel de aventura que la caracteriza. Es un placer visual con muchos efectos que hacen la experiencia muy positiva. También nos damos cuenta de que la conspiración viene de la parte interna del sistema presidencial, lo que se traduce en la existencia de alguien que intentará mantener oculto aquello que los vincula, sin importar si deba o no ser necesario deshacerse de alguien que esté comenzando a sospechar, como la investigación de un agente de la CIA.

Bringing back the president of the United States will be far from simple. But it is something that will be really worth it to show the courage of a young man and reflect that he is not only a great hunter, but also a great hero. In short we can say that this movie has many condiments to make you have a good time, with doses of action and adrenaline just right, very crazy chases, and a pace that will make you feel that you are living the adventure along with them. I can say that I enjoyed this movie.

Traer de regreso al presidente de los Estados Unidos no será nada sencillo. Pero es algo que valdrá realmente la pena para demostrar el valor de un joven y reflejar que no solo se trata de un gran cazador, sino también de un gran héroe. En definitiva podemos decir que esta película tiene muchos condimentos como para hacerte pasar un buen rato, con dosis de acción y adrenalina justas, persecuciones muy alocadas, y un ritmo que te hará sentir que estás viviendo la aventura junto a ellos. Puedo decir que disfruté esta película.
