Hi Movie lovers...
What movie do you watch nowadays?

I've been collecting several movies on Netflix that I want to watch before I finally purchase a subscription. When my list gets a bit long, I start to immerse myself in Netflix. That's what sometimes makes me reluctant to subscribe often, lest I end up watching too much. But let's talk about one of the movies I watched on Netflix, footage of which recently filled my social media feeds. Many people in my home country are talking about it because of the entire cast, and the film has even won numerous awards.

The film is called Laapataa Ladies or Lost Ladies

Laapataa Ladies

The story begins with a newlywed couple, Phool and Deepak, who, after their wedding rituals, travel back to Deepak's village by train. According to their tradition, Phool must cover her veil so that her face is not visible. Phool and Deepak are not the only newlywed couple in the carriage. There are also several other newlyweds who also cover their veils so that their faces are not visible at all. This then causes Deepak to mistake Phool. Another bride who was asleep suddenly wakes up when Deepak wakes her and immediately gets off. After the woman realizes that Deepak is not her husband, the train has returned. That is why she is forced to follow Deepak. Meanwhile, Phool is still asleep in the train carriage. She is woken up when someone wakes her up. When she wakes up, she does not see her husband anywhere. She is lost. Likewise, the husband whose wife was taken by Deepak, he becomes very angry and promises to teach Jaya (his wife) a very meaningful lesson.

This film tells a story about light yet meaningful issues. The way it is presented may be unusual because it shows a portrait of lower-class Indian society, who still follow ancient traditions such as covering the bride's face so that she is not recognized even by her own husband. This is seen when Deepak reports Phool missing but he cannot show Phool's face because in their second wedding photo, Phool's face is completely covered by a veil. Then on the side of Jaya—she is a woman who still wants to go to school, to become a farmer, but her family marries her off. With the mistake that night, Jaya feels she has an advantage so she has to hide her identity. In Deepak's family she is free to express her opinion and even gives suggestions for the farm that Deepak's family manages. Jaya also provokes the women in the house to show off their talents. It was there that Phool's face was finally silhouetted by Deepak's sister-in-law. Through Jaya, Phool is finally found, but Jaya is accused of being a thief.

The next touching moment came when Phool finally read the flyer Jaya had made, then she boarded the train to her husband's village. The meeting finally happened—I even cried. It was so touching. Another touching part happened when Jaya's husband finally came to meet her at the police station. Jaya's husband treated her terribly, saying rude things, even slapping her. The police let it happen, being so cruel to be a bystander—I thought so at first. But when Jaya's husband grabbed her and wanted to take her home because the missing person case was closed—the police stopped Jaya's husband and forced him to let her go because Jaya didn't want to come with him. When Jaya's husband refused, the police said that he would open a new case with violence charges, even presenting several witnesses in the room. Forced, the evil husband let Jaya go. And so Jaya was free from her evil husband. She went to another village to gain knowledge. I never thought this simple story would have such a touching ending.

This film addresses traditions that should not be continued, gender equality, and compassion for one another. It's no wonder it won numerous film festival awards. Adapted from the book "Two Brides" by Biplab Goswami, director Kiran Rao successfully conveys a meaningful message.

I rate this film 4 out of 5 stars; Entertainment...

Hi, Halo, Annyeong, welcome to my galaxy.

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of those are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.
