New Perspective After Watching Documentary Films
Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso

Let's flashback to 2016, where there was a very viral case. A woman named Mirna Salihin died after drinking coffee with two of her friends, one of whom was Jessica Wongso.
This case became the center of full attention after the police announced that Mirna died due to cyanide, which was mixed in her coffee. Cyanide poisoning, for the general public, is so unusual that we are quite curious as to how the killer managed to so easily put cyanide in Mirna's coffee.

7 years after the judge's decision on Jessica Wongso, Netflix released a documentary entitled Ice Cold: Murder, Coffee, and Jessica Wongso.

---

This documentary highlights the case from various sides, namely the people involved in the trial, namely Jesscia's lawyer, the victim's father, Edi Darmawan, Mirna's twin sister, Shandy, Rangga the Barista, and others. In this documentary, footage is also shown of the trial which took place from February to October where Jessica was given the verdict.

Ice Cold is like reopening the Jessica Wongso case in the eyes of netizens. When this case occurred, many people sided with the victim's family. At that time, social media was not as strong as it is now, so netizens did not have the power to provide their opinions. Now, after 7 years have passed, it seems the public has changed theirs mind.

According to Nitizen, there were many odd things in this investigation and trial. Also looking at the testimony of witnesses and the victim's family, this clearly looks strange. With this documentary, many experts have been asked about this case again. Many celebrity podcasts also appeared to ask who Mirna's killer was.

Is that true Jessica Kumala Wongso?

Strange Things at the Ice Cold Case

I am one of the people who is also following Mirna and Jessica's case. I used to be very sure that Jessica was Mirna's killer. This was driven by evidence that Jessica had a mental illness. And when he saw the look on his face, he didn't have the sadness when he lost a close friend who died. That is the reason why I believe Jessica is the suspect.

However, when this documentary was broadcast, and I received many facts in it, I had to think again, whether it was really Jessica who killed Mirna.

There are two possibilities currently in my head. Namely, Mirna was murdered, secondly, Mirna died by accident. Coincidentally, Mirna has Gerd, which when it comes to coffee will threaten her life.

This is really confusing. However, the investigation into this case feels more confusing. Without saying whether Jessica was the real perpetrator or someone else, I highlighted several odd things in the investigation of this case.

  • Mirna was not autopsied

I just found out that if Mirna was not fully autopsied, then how would the police know that there was poison that killed Mirna? During the trial, it was stated that Mirna's family did not allow a complete autopsy, so samples were only taken from Mirna's stomach and 0.02 grams of cyanide was found.

Of course, this cannot prove that Mirna died of cyanide poisoning, because cyanide is also widely obtained from food. At a dose of 0.02, the taste is not strong enough. Yes, if only Mirna had a complete autopsy, then we would find out the real cause of Mirna's death.

  • There is a very impulsive accusation from the victim's father

Watching the Documentary Film Ice Cold took me to see what the victim's father, Edi Darmawan, was like. I find this type of father a lot in Indonesia, so I assumed that Mr. Edi just wanted Jessica to be thrown away because he said so.

There was a sentence that made me stunned, namely, he said that the fact that Mirna was killed came from instinct. However, investigating a case should not be based on assumptions and just instinct.

  • Many Experts Not Present in the Court

During the trial, a cyanide expert doctor was present, but his statement was not recorded. Like when doctor Djaja (cyanide expert) said that he was the first doctor to hold Mirna before she died. There were no signs of cyanide poisoning, said doctor Djaja. According to Doctor Djaja, people who die from cyanide poisoning will have faces as red as cherries, but Mirna has a blue face. Another oddity, a few days after this statement, Mirna's face turned red.

This documentary seems to bring a new point of view to this very viral case.

Those of you who have watched, what do you think?

When there are curious or atypical facts in a trial, when the process is irregular and there are contradictions or things that seem to have been manipulated, it's inevitable that suspicion will arise and then one wonders why? Why did they continue the process despite these inconsistencies? And I guess that's the real question here. Thanks for sharing this, I hadn't heard of that case.
