Hi movie lovers...

Recently, I've been watching a lot of films on online platforms. These films are very random from various genres and countries of origin and are available on this platform. When I watch an interesting film, I will watch the film of one of the actors who gives the best performance in the film. It doesn't matter whether I have seen the films or not, I will watch them again. I watched the films of actor Fedi Nuril randomly after I saw his excellent performance in the film Rumah Future. However, at this time I don't want to discuss Fedi Nuril's films that I watched. Instead, I want to review a Bollywood film that accidentally caught my attention when watching films starring Fedi Nuril.

The film is called Tamasha.

Tamasha - It's Our Own Life Story

Director: Imtiaz Ali
Cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone

Tamasha was produced in 2015, when I was still in the days of doing nothing in my hometown. I was very enthusiastically waiting for this film because it stars a screen couple - which is my favorite ex-real life couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. After watching their two previous films, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Yeh Jawani Hai Dewaani, I hope their chemistry in the film Tamasha is also interesting.

When I first watched it, I felt Tamasha was not an interesting film. I still liked Ranbir and Deepika's chemistry, but the story of Tamasha was very boring so I didn't like Tamasha, at that time. But now, after 8 years, I watched it again on an online platform and liked the story of this film.

Do you want to know how my new Point of View about this movie?

Let's spill the beans!

Tamasha - What Happens in Corsica, Stays in Corsica

Tamasha tells the story of little Ved who likes listening to love stories from a storyteller where he lives, Simla. He continued to listen to stories that he found interesting from the storyteller. In his childhood, Ved imagined many stories in his mind.

The film then switches to Corsica, where a woman loses her valuables including her passport and money. He asked the owner of one of the restaurants to lend him a phone, but the restaurant owner did not allow it. Luckily, when the woman cursed in Hindi, a man took interest and lent her his cell phone. The woman then wanted to say her name, but the man who lent her the cell phone didn't want to hear it. The man gave predictions about how people's stories would pass, so he initiated a pseudonym. The man chose the name Don, while the woman called herself Mona.

While waiting for the new passport to be back in his hands, Don and Mona decide to go on an adventure together. Their adventures were only around Corsica. Within a week, Don and Mona continued to act as role players without revealing their true identities. They were both foreigners having fun in Corsica.

After getting a new passport, Mona returned to India. Her life continued just like that, until finally when she returned to Delhi, she met Don in a library. Mona was very happy to be reunited with Don and introduced herself as Tara Maheswari, while Don's real name is Ved Vardhan Sahni. Ved and Tara are back together, this time as lovers, but Tara is a little disappointed because the Ved she finds in the present is very different from Don. There was no chatter about interesting stories, just normal employees who made Tara awkward every time they met. Ved and Tara's relationship ended when Ved proposed to Tara, but Tara rejected him because Tara loved Don, not Ved who was a stiff employee.

Intermission starts from here, in the struggle of Ved's heart since Tara rejected him. Becoming an engineer was not his desire. He doesn't know what he wants to be, he just does what his father wants. Ved is becoming chaotic day by day. Ved becomes temperamental and makes the people around him uncomfortable. Ved then returns to search for his identity, after being fired from his job.

Old POV and New POV:

as I said before, at first I didn't understand what the plot of this film was like. It's like a series of boring pictures and I failed to weave them into an interesting story. However, after I watched it again, I could understand what the director wanted to convey through this film. And I decided that this film is my favorite film by director Imtiaz Ali. Previously I had watched Imtiaz Ali's films and nothing impressed me until I finally watched the film Tamasha for the second time.

Tamasha means Spectacle, referring to the theme of this film where Ved likes big stories. This film tells the story of mental issues with symptoms of emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD). This refers to the character Ved who likes drama stories but in the end, does something that society thinks is right. This was triggered by pressure from Ved's father who wanted him to become an engineer.

This film not only shows a good story but also a screen that is pleasing to the eye. I love the scenes in Corsica, it's very beautiful and makes me want to visit it. Moreover, the way Imtiaz Ali packages this film is very neat. He is not a director who makes conventional Bollywood films, but his films are still interesting. Many people are crazy about the film entitled Jab We Met, which also stars ex-lovers in real life. (I think Imtiaz Ali likes pairing up real-life ex-lovers in his films.).

How about you, have you ever watch Tamasha? If not watch yet, I recommended it!

I rated 5/5 star: Spectaculer!

Thanks for read my sincere review. See you in next review.
