Buenos días comunidad. Hoy les traigo esta película de comedia que vi hace tiempo, pero que siempre me saca muchas risas. Me gustan mucho las escenas de pelea y los chistes porque los hacen tan exagerados que son muy divertidos.

Así que empecemos con la peli…

🎬 Un poco de contexto

Todo comienza con dos jóvenes, Sing y Gordo, quiénes son dos ladrones que intentan extorsionar a los habitantes de una humilde vecindad llamada "Pigsty Alley". Para intimidarlos, Sing se hace pasar por un miembro de la temible Banda del Hacha, una mafia despiadada que controla gran parte de la ciudad.

Pero todo el plan se cae cuando aparecen los verdaderos integrantes de la banda y atacan a los vecinos. Para sorpresa de todos, tres vecinos resultan ser maestros ocultos de kung fu, que logran derrotar fácilmente a los miembros de la banda.

El líder de la mafia, humillado por la derrota, decide contratar a dos asesinos profesionales para acabar con los maestros. Es aquí donde descubrimos que los verdaderos defensores de ese lugar son los Caseros, una pareja de esposos y antiguas leyendas de las artes marciales que llevan años retirados y ocultando su verdadero poder.

Mientras tanto, la Banda del Hacha recluta a Sing debido a su habilidad para abrir cerraduras. Le ordenan liberar a La Bestia, un luchador considerado uno de los asesinos más peligroso del mundo, que se encuentra encerrado en un hospital psiquiátrico.

Al ser liberado, La Bestia termina enfrentándose a los Caseros en una batalla brutal y destructiva.

Pero aquí pasa algo distinto. Sing, después de haber empezado a cambiar de actitud, decide ayudar a los Caseros durante la pelea, pero como era de esperarse, Bestia lo vence y lo deja casi al borde de la muerte.

Sin embargo, esta brutal paliza termina despertando el verdadero potencial de Sing, un poder oculto que sólo el "elegido", un prodigio del kung fu, podría hacerlo.

¿Será que esto será suficiente para derrotar a La Bestia? Pues si quieres saberlo, te invito a ver la película. ¡Verás que te divertirás al máximo!

♥ Lo que más me gustó

Como buena película china de acción y comedia, los efectos especiales son súper exagerados y divertidos. Me encanta ver las caras de los personajes cuando se enfrentarán a alguna pelea o cuando pasa algo gracioso.

Por ejemplo, está la escena donde Sing, por tratar de hacerse el fuerte, termina haciéndose mucho daño con un hacha y otras cosas.

Además, quería demostrarles a los vecinos que sabía pelear, pero cada persona a la que intentaba intimidar parecía estar mejor preparado que él, así que terminaba rechazando la pelea y diciéndoles que mejor no pelearan con él jeje. Había de todo: desde un anciano hasta un niño y hasta un chico en muletas, ¡y todos tenían un cuerpo musculoso!

Creo durante toda la película terminas riéndote con las ocurrencias de los personajes principales. Otra escena graciosa es cuando la señora Casera persigue por todos lados a Sing para darle una golpiza, corren tan rápido que parece irreal jeje.

Hasta que casi logra alcanzarlo, pero termina siendo golpeada por un auto y lanzada hacia un anuncio publicitario.

Algo que recién me enteré cuando fui revisando información adicional sobre esta película es que varios de los actores que interpretaron a los vecinos de Pigsty Alley eran auténticas leyendas del cine de artes marciales de Hong Kong de los años 70. Y Stephen Chow (el actor principal) los reunió especialmente como una forma de homenajearlos.

Esto me parece genial, porque si ven las escenas de pelea pueden notar que sus técnicas son realmente muy buenas. ¡Son unos capos de las artes marciales!

También aparecen dos músicos ciegos que fueron contratados por la Banda del Hacha para atacar a los maestros. Tocan un instrumento tradicional chino de cuerdas llamado “guqin”, y utilizan la música como parte de sus ataques. Esta escena me pareció muy buena, ya que con este instrumento causaron muchísimo daño.

Ahora, la pelea entre la pareja de Caseros y La Bestia es súper épica porque los tres son muy buenos y cada uno con su propia técnica. La señora y su grito mortal jeje y La Bestia cuando utiliza su técnica del sapo, entre otros.

Y la escena donde Sing despierta su verdadero poder y utiliza la Palma de Buda es muy buena. Después de concentrarse y comprender finalmente las enseñanzas que había aprendido de niño, logra utilizar la técnica.

Una enorme palma aparece y se dirige rápidamente hacia La Bestia, logrando finalmente derrotarlo.

Por último, está la escena donde Sing vuelve a encontrarse con la niña que había salvado cuando era pequeño. Ahora ella es una joven que trabaja como vendedora de helados y todavía recuerda lo que él hizo por ella.
Ella le ofrece el mismo dulce que le había dado cuando eran niños, y al final Sing se acerca nuevamente a ella.

No estoy segura de si terminan juntos, pero me gusta pensar que ese encuentro representa una nueva oportunidad para ambos.

🌌 Algunas reflexiones

En esta peli también hay algunas reflexiones interesantes, como el poder que podemos tener dentro de nosotros y que puede despertar cuando estamos en situaciones difíciles.

En el caso de Sing, siempre había querido formar parte de la mafia porque, desde pequeño, había llegado a pensar que los buenos nunca ganaban. Sim embargo, cuando finalmente consigue acercarse a la Banda del Hacha, descubre que no era lo que imaginaba y que sus integrantes solo hacían daño a los demás.

Desde pequeño había practicado la técnica con la Palma de Buda gracias a un manual que compró, pero pensó que lo habían estafado porque nunca funcionaba. Sin embargo, con el tiempo descubrimos que ese conocimiento sí había quedado dentro de él.

A veces pasa que nosotros tampoco confiamos en nuestras propias capacidades. Puede que tengamos habilidades que todavía están ocultas, pero para descubrirlas debemos desarrollarlas; no basta sólo con leer y aprender, sino también practicar día a día.

Creo que mucha gente juzgaba mal a Sing porque parecía ser un simple ladrón, alguien sin talento que nunca haría nada bueno. Y creo que él mismo terminó creyéndolo, hasta el punto de dudar de que algún día pudiera convertirse en un verdadero maestro de kung fu.

Es una película muy divertida y creo que siempre te deja alguna pequeña enseñanza.

Kung Fu Sion (2004): The Power of the Palm

Hello, community. Today I bring you this comedy movie that I watched a while ago, but it always makes me laugh a lot. I really like the fight scenes and the jokes because they make them so exaggerated that they are very funny.

So let's get started with the movie...

🎬 A bit of context

It all begins with two young men, Sing and Gordo, who are two thieves trying to extort the residents of a humble neighborhood called "Pigsty Alley." To intimidate them, Sing poses as a member of the fearsome Ax Gang, a ruthless mafia that controls a large part of the city.

But the whole plan falls apart when the real members of the gang show up and attack the neighbors. To everyone's surprise, three neighbors turn out to be hidden kung fu masters, who easily defeat the gang members.

The mafia leader, humiliated by the defeat, decides to hire two professional assassins to eliminate the masters. It is here that we discover that the true defenders of that place are the Caseros, a married couple and former legends of martial arts who have been retired for years and hiding their true power.

Meanwhile, the Ax Gang recruits Sing due to his ability to pick locks. They order him to free The Beast, a fighter considered one of the most dangerous assassins in the world, who is locked up in a psychiatric hospital.

Upon being released, La Bestia ends up facing the Caseros in a brutal and destructive battle.

But here something different happens. Sing, after having started to change his attitude, decides to help the Caseros during the fight, but as expected, Bestia defeats him and leaves him almost on the brink of death.

However, this brutal beating ends up awakening Sing's true potential, a hidden power that only the "chosen one," a kung fu prodigy, could possess.

♥ What I liked the most

Like a good Chinese action-comedy movie, the special effects are super exaggerated and fun. I love seeing the characters' faces when they face a fight or when something funny happens.

For example, there's the scene where Sing, trying to act tough, ends up hurting himself a lot with an ax and other things.

Moreover, he wanted to show the neighbors that he knew how to fight, but every person he tried to intimidate seemed better prepared than him, so he ended up backing out of the fight and telling them it was better not to fight him, haha. There was everything: from an old man to a child and even a guy on crutches, and they all had muscular bodies!

I think throughout the movie you end up laughing at the antics of the main characters. Another funny scene is when Mrs. Casera chases Sing all over the place to beat him up, they run so fast that it seems unreal haha.

Until she almost manages to catch him, but ends up getting hit by a car and thrown into an advertisement.

Something I just found out when I was reviewing additional information about this movie is that several of the actors who played the neighbors of Pigsty Alley were genuine legends of Hong Kong martial arts cinema from the 70s. And Stephen Chow (the main actor) brought them together especially as a way to pay tribute to them.

I think this is great because if you watch the fight scenes, you can notice that their techniques are really very good. They are martial arts masters!

Two blind musicians who were hired by the Ax Gang to attack the masters also appear. They play a traditional Chinese string instrument called the "guqin," and they use music as part of their attacks. This scene seemed very good to me, as they caused a lot of damage with this instrument.

Now, the fight between the couple from Caseros and The Beast is super epic because all three are very good, each with their own technique. The lady and her deadly scream haha, and La Bestia when he uses his frog technique, among others.

And the scene where Sing awakens his true power and uses the Buddha Palm is very good. After concentrating and finally understanding the teachings he had learned as a child, he manages to use the technique.
A huge palm appears and quickly heads toward The Beast, finally managing to defeat it.

Finally, there is the scene where Sing meets again the girl he had saved when he was little. Now she is a young woman who works as an ice cream vendor and still remembers what he did for her.

She offers him the same candy he had given her when they were children, and in the end, Sing approaches her again.

I'm not sure if they end up together, but I like to think that meeting represents a new opportunity for both of them.

🌌 Some reflections

In this movie, there are also some interesting reflections, such as the power we can have within us and that can awaken when we are in difficult situations.

In Sing's case, he had always wanted to be part of the mafia because, since he was little, he had come to think that the good guys never won. However, when he finally manages to get close to the Ax Gang, he discovers that it was not what he imagined and that its members only harmed others.

Since he was little, he had practiced the technique with the Buddha's Palm thanks to a manual he bought, but he thought he had been scammed because it never worked. However, over time we discovered that that knowledge had indeed remained within him.

Sometimes it happens that we don't trust our own abilities either. We may have skills that are still hidden, but to discover them we must develop them; it's not enough just to read and learn, but also to practice day by day.

I think many people judged Sing poorly because he seemed like just a simple thief, someone without talent who would never do anything good. And I think he ended up believing it himself, to the point of doubting that he could ever become a true kung fu master.

It's a very funny movie and I think it always leaves you with some small lesson.
