From what my trusted reader, @wayward-dreams, told me, Stalker 2 is supposedly terrible...
It's more complicated now. The game was released in an abysmal state, nobody can deny that, but one year after its release Stalker 2 is a really enjoyable experience, at least for the people who are ready to accept what Stalker games are. Bugs, lags and low FPS are one thing, just as various design flaws, but there's a type of person whose brain is just not ready for the standard Stalker experience: the slow, challenging gameplay. Always remember that when reading any criticism of Stalker 2 or the previous trilogy.
Having said (or written) that, the new content is big new because one of the most frequent complains about Stalker 2 was the lack of sidequests. The world simply felt too empty, with not much to do except normal exploration and following the main story. To make things worse, the farther you went in the game, the less sidequests were available. This looked really ugly, like the devs spent more time on side content in the early stage of the game to avoid negative reviews right after the premiere release. Not that the GSC is the only game dev that uses such dirty tricks, but it still left a sour aftertaste. Having 5 hours of new content added with the 1.8 is a form of apology to the faithful fans, or at least you can treat it as an apology if you're feeling generous enough.
All right, enough blabbering. I'm launching Stalker 2 right after publishing this comment to check out the new content. Maybe I'll even make a short post about the new experience (but I wouldn't hold your breath hehe).
