Cine TV Contest #67 Favorite Suspense Movie: Final Destination (ENG/ESP)

Hi guys, suspense is the theme of this week's contest and I love it, especially in horror movies, that's why my chosen movie belongs to that genre and it is: "Final Destination ", because no other movie has provoked me so much suspense as this saga, the fact of knowing that death is lurking and that at any moment, under any circumstance it can be your time makes me not detach from the screen and bite my nails. This is why I think it is a great example of suspense and a great saga in general.

Final Destination is a saga of 5 movies, which belong to the horror genre. What attracts me most about these movies is that there is no typical villain that we are used to, there is no killer or demon chasing the main characters, but it is death itself that goes after them. When I talk about death I don't mean the Grim Reaper, because we can't see it, but it manifests itself in strange accidents that can happen at any time and in any way, the intrigue and suspense of not knowing when is what takes our breath away while watching the film.

The plot is quite similar in all the movies: basically it starts with a boy (in the 2nd part it is a girl) who has a premonition of a big accident in which all his friends die including him, who dies last and at that moment wakes up from the vision, only to realize that what he saw is happening and leaves the place altered, followed by a few who believe him. Those who manage to survive die little by little in strange accidents and always in the same order in which they would have died in the vision.

In the first part the accident occurs on a plane, in the second on a highway, in the third on a roller coaster, in the fourth on a race track and in the fifth on a bridge. The interesting thing is that after the first survivors die the protagonists look for help and it is always the man in the morgue who helps them understand that because of the vision, 7 of them outwitted death's plan and that is why they are being chased by it, and the only way to save themselves is by breaking the chain, that is, by saving the next one to die. Just imagine, knowing that death is lurking and that you can be next and die in the simplest and most absurd way, is to keep you all the time in tension.

The way in which the accidents happen can start with a simple movement of any object and in the film this is presented in a spectacular way, the camera and the sound create an atmosphere of tension and suspense that increases more and more as the moment of death approaches. I love the way the camera pans all over the place, zooming in on the objects in detail, very well accompanied by the suspenseful music, without that, the film would not be the same.

Watching the movie is feeling nervous all the time, looking carefully at all the objects that surround the protagonists, not knowing which of them is going to fall accidentally and cause a chain reaction that will end in the death of someone, it's a bit distressing, but I still enjoy this kind of movies 😅.

My favorite movie of the saga

Of the five parts my favorite is the third one, because it is the first one I watched of all and the one that introduced me to the saga. There is also something different in this part, because in the others, the protagonist is getting fragmented visions that give him clues about the next death that will occur, while in this part this does not happen, but it is through some photos taken by the protagonist, which is giving her clues about how her friends are going to die.

I remember watching this movie for the first time and feeling the desperation of the protagonist, who, by the way, is named Wendy just like me 😅, to get off that roller coaster. The deaths in this part seem quite strong to me, especially the one of the two girls in the tanning place, and it is that everything is happening little by little, the suspense is rising as well as the helplessness I feel as a viewer of not being able to warn the characters to be more careful, as if they could hear me 😅🤦🏻‍♀️.

Personal anecdote

I remember one time my younger brother and I were home alone and we were watching Final Destination 1. There's a scene where one of the deaths happens in a bathroom, in a very silly way and at that moment my brother gets the urge to pee. It was really funny to me because he didn't want to go to the bathroom alone and much less after watching that scene 😂. In the end I had to accompany him.

Anyway friends, these movies are definitely full of suspense and propose a different style of horror, that's why they are my favorites of the genre. I hope you liked my choice and I'll gladly read yours 😊.

Hola chicos, suspenso es el tema del concurso de esta semana y lo adoro, sobre todo en las películas de terror, es por eso que mi película elegida pertenece a ese género y es: "Destino Final", pues ninguna otra película me ha provocado tanto suspenso como esta saga, el hecho de saber que la muerte está al acecho y que en cualquier momento, bajo cualquier circunstancia puede ser tu hora hace que no me despegue de la pantalla y me coma las uñas. Es por esto que creo que es un gran ejemplo de suspenso y una gran saga en general.

Destino Final es una saga de 5 películas, que pertenecen al género de terror. Lo que más me atrae de estas películas es que no existe el típico villano al que estamos acostumbrados, no hay ningún asesino ni demonio persiguiendo a los protagonistas, sino que es la misma muerte en sí la que va tras de ellos. Cuando hablo de la muerte no me refiero a la Parca, pues no podemos verla, sino que se manifiesta en extraños accidentes que pueden pasar en cualquier momento y de cualquier manera, la intriga y el suspenso de no saber cuando es lo que nos corta la respiración mientras vemos la película.

La trama es bastante parecida en todas las películas: básicamente empieza con un muchacho (en la 2da parte es una muchacha) que tiene una premonición de un gran accidente en el que todos sus amigos mueren incluidos él, que se muere de último y en ese momento despierta de la visión, solo para darse cuenta que lo que vió está pasando y sale alterado del lugar, seguido por unos pocos que le creen. Los que logran sobrevivir van muriendo poco a poco en extraños accidentes y siempre en el mismo orden en que hubieran muerto en la visión.

En la primera parte el accidente ocurre en un avión, en la segunda en una carretera, en la tercera en una montaña rusa, en la cuarta en una pista de carreras de autos y en la quinta en un puente. Lo interesante es que luego de que los primeros sobrevivientes mueren los protagonistas buscan ayuda y siempre es el hombre de la morgue que los ayuda a entender que debido a la visión, 7 de ellos burlaron el plan de la muerte y es por eso que están siendo perseguidos por ella, y la única forma de salvarse es rompiendo la cadena, o sea, salvando al siguiente que le toca morir. Solo imagínense, saber que la muerte está al acecho y que tú puedes ser el siguiente y morirte de la manera más sencilla y absurda, es para mantenerte todo el tiempo en tensión.

La manera en que van ocurriendo los accidentes puede empezar con un simple movimiento de cualquier objeto y en la película esto es presentado de una manera espectacular, la cámara y el sonido van creando un ambiente de tensión y suspenso que va aumentando cada vez más mientras se acerca el momento de morir. Me encanta como la cámara va recorriendo todo el lugar, haciendo acercamientos de los objetos en detalles, muy bien acompañado por la música de suspenso, que sin eso, la película no sería lo mismo.

Ver la película es sentirse nervioso todo el tiempo, mirando cuidadosamente todos los objetos que rodean a los protagonistas, si saber cuál de ellos se va a caer accidentalmente y provocará una reacción en cadena que terminará en la muerte de alguien, es un poco angustiante, pero igual disfruto de este tipo de películas 😅.

Mi pelicula preferida de la saga

De las cinco partes mi preferida es la tercera, pues es la primera que ví de todas y la que me introdujo a la saga. Además hay algo diferente en esta parte, pues en las demás, al protagonista le van llegando visiones fragmentadas que le dan pistas sobre la siguiente muerte que va a ocurrir, mientras que en esta parte esto no sucede así, sino que es a través de unas fotos que toma la protagonista, lo que le va dando las pistas de como van a morir sus amigos.

Recuerdo ver esta película por primera vez y sentir la desesperación de la protagonista, que, a propósito, se llama Wendy igual que yo 😅, por bajarse de esa montaña rusa. Las muertes en esta parte me parecen bastante fuertes, sobre todo la de las dos chicas en el lugar de bronceado, y es que todo va sucediendo poco a poco, el suspenso va subiendo al igual de la impotencia que siento como espectador de no poder avisarle a los personajes que sean más cuidadosos, como si pudieran oírme 😅🤦🏻‍♀️.

Anécdota personal

Recuerdo una vez que mi hermano menor y yo estábamos solos en casa y estábamos viendo Destino Final 1. Hay una escena donde una de las muertes ocurre en un baño, de manera muy tonta y en ese momento a mi hermano le entran ganas de hacer pipí. Me hizo mucha gracia porque no quería ir al baño solo y mucho menos después de ver esa escena 😂. Al final tuve que acompañarlo.

En fin amigos, estás películas definitivamente están llenas de suspenso y proponen un estilo de terror diferente, por eso son mis preferidas del género. Espero que les haya gustado mi elección y con gusto leeré las de ustedes 😊.
