Fountain of Youth (2025).
It is amusing how we search fervently for things that aren't meant to be found and when we eventually find these things, we are not ready to handle such things. It could be due to one's unpreparedness or because we're forcing ourselves on the thing and at the end of the day, it culminates in something consequential.
The movie “Fountain of Youth” had a really interesting title and so I opted to see it, after a solid recommendation from a trusted movie supplier. In a bid to misguide me, the movie supplier said something in the lines of “after seeing this movie, I was prompted to explore more” for one who loves anything remotely related to exploring or adventure, my attention was piqued. What about this movie would make one want to explore? There was just one way to find out.

The movie follows two estranged siblings Luke and Charlotte Purdue on a quest to find a mythical and mystical fountain of youth, alongside their deceased father's team mates. The fountain of youth is said to give anyone who drinks of it their heart desires: beauty, wealth, healing, peace, you name it, but there is also a downside to drinking from this fountain as those who are not pure of heart would get the exact opposite.
Sponsored by an embarrassingly rich billionaire who is suffering from end stage liver cancer, Owen Carver, the quest is set in motion with Owen's healing as the driving force. Would the team successfully get to the fountain of youth or would the “bad guys” get to them first?
The action adventure movie Fountain of youth was released on the 23rd of May, 2025. Directed by David Yates, It has a runtime of 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes). The movie stars veteran actors like John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Arian Moayed and Eiza Ganzález
My Opinion
The visuals and cinematography as a whole was impeccable. The action sequences were also very polished and notable. Although I cannot say the movie felt very original. Some scenes seemed very familiar and the plot? Predictable.
This movie also had an array of commendable casts that played their roles well. From start to finish, the cast impressed me with their acting skills, especially the scenes with stunts. The stunts were notable for their intensity, high-risk practical execution and skilled coordination. For this, I'd like to commend the stunt team as they did a great job. The supporting characters added flair to the film but they were underutilized.
My absolute favorite character from this movie was Eiza Ganzález–one of the protectors of the fountain of youth–for her prowess, femininity and valour. Not many females can thrive at both the ends of the spectrum (so vicious yet so feminine). Her dynamics with Luke developed throughout the movie, blending action with comedic elements. I looked forward to every scene she featured in and she didn't disappoint.
The themes explored in this movie were more in the lines of; quest for immortality, family and estrangement, greed, ethics of life extension and adventure. The aspect of ethics of life extension came to play when the Vatican City and a very high official therein got involved. This scene delved into the moral and philosophical implications of extending life indefinitely, including the value of mortality and the consequences of immortality. An acquaintance came to mind as I saw this scene mainly because for as long as I've known this individual, he has desperately sought for means to become immortal.
The movie featured notable landmarks like The Austrian National Library, The Lusitania, and The Great Pyramids of Giza(particularly towards the end where the characters explored an ancient booby-trapped structure.)
Recommendation and Rating.
Overall, Fountain of Youth is a visually engaging and fun adventure film with a good number of moral lessons but falls short of a blockbuster. I will give this movie a 6/10 rating. If you enjoy fast-paced action-adventure films or movies with light-hearted tones and some thoughtful themes, then Fountain of Youth would be a good watch for you.

This movie would be a great watch. There are some actions in it. I'm just wondering if Owen would get the fountain of youth first considering his ailment and the dire need to get healed.

I’m with you on the visuals and stunts.... they didn’t come to play. And Eiza Ganzález? Whew, she ate! She really held it down when things started dragging.
