I decided to take some rest today and do something out of the ordinary. The normal for sometime now has been me surfing the net, researching and communicating with people but I didn't want to do that today.

I decided to watch a movie. Movies are usually like antidotes to me in the sense that when I watch them, I always fall asleep. Not that they're boring, they just always put me to sleep in one way or the other. But guess what! I watched a two hours movie today without blinking.

Movies don't normally get me teary but this particular movie did. The lead character is Diana Ekah, a girl of twelve years old. The movie talks about how much Ekah desired to go to school but her father, who lost his wife to education, didn't like the decision.

Ekah, a very brilliant kid, had to pass through a lot of trials. Her father even gave her hand in marriage in the guise of preventing her from going to school, not knowing that Ekah's husband to be had ulterior motives.

A teacher found Ekah. She knew that she was a very smart kid and she could go a long way. She groomed Ekah, without the father's consent of course. Ekah made waves and became a great person. This movie shows that ignorance is very disastrous.

It delves deep into letting us know that girl child education is very key and early marriage is not something that should happen to any child. The fisherman's diary' is inspired by nobel peace prize winner, Malala yousafzai.

The movie was released in 2020. It's a Cameroonian movie. The languages used Cameroonian and Pidgin English. It was directed by Enah Johnscot. I found the movie on Netflix, you could check it out too. I hope you don't get teary while watching the movie.

Thanks for stopping by...

With love, wongi 😊
