The Nun 2023|| A Little Bit Of Faith

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

When the first episode of the movie "the nun" was released, I remember vividly that I went to a cinema with a bunch of my friends and their partners. I still liked horror movies at the time and I was pretty much very new to the lovey dovey world. So whenever an eerie scene or a scene with a jump scare came up, my female friends would seek refuge in the arms of their partners and I was there, watching with so much glee and no atom of fear.

It got to a point when I was distracted from watching the movie because every now and then, people were jumping into their partners arms and it was more interesting to watch them jump rather than watch the movie, hehe.

I left the cinema that day feeling neutral but every other person seemed to keep talking about the movie they had just seen. We only agreed on one thing and that was the fact that there was definitely going to be a second part to the movie but the release date wasn't certain. For years, I waited and eventually I forgot about the movie. Not until the second part came out.

Since it had been five years already, I decided to see the first part again before watching the second part and the feeling was amazing. This way, I could get the plot straight and also understand why certain people were acting the way they acted. Anyone who has seen the first part of the movie and eventually the second part would agree with me that the end of the first has a major role in the continuation of the second part.

About The Movie

The Nun 2023, is an American gothic supernatural horror film directed by Michael Chaves. Released on the 8th of September, it stars actors like Taissa Farmiga,Storm Reid, Bonnie Aarons and Jonas Bloquet.

The movie centres around a nun–sister Irene– who was ordered to carry out an investigation by the Pope in the Vatican city. She resists at first because she knows from experience how dangerous such investigations are but eventually she succumbs.

Filled with a puzzling uncertainty, she embarks on the Journey, accompanied by another recalcitrant sister. Soon enough, she finds out that the demon who she was sent to investigate was indeed a familiar demon. She is now faced with the responsibility to conquer this demon.

Cast

The movie starred some really amazing actors. Actors like Storm Reid and Taissa Farmiga are actors with very familiar faces and I have come across some of their other movies.

Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene

Sister Irene has been in the movie since the first part. She played the role of a meek, humble and faithful servant of God. Due to her family background and her incessant spiritual visions, she was sent off to become a nun and she made peace with this.

During her early years as a nun, she encountered the presence of a very feisty demon. She played an amazing role initially and soon became an asset to the church.

Storm Reid as Sister Debra

Sister Debra was a fairly new cast but also the exact opposite of Sister Irene. She was sent off to become a nun when she didn't even believe in miracles nor did she have faith in God.

The only one who could understand her was Irene and as such there was a bond between them. She assisted Irene in the dangerous mission she was assigned knowing the impact and the consequences. This journey was going to determine whether miracles were real or not.

Jonas Bloquet as Maurice

Maurie was a French-Canadian who preferred to be referred to as Frenchie. He played a major role in the first part and also in the second part of this movie. Frenchie was a wanderer who loved to travel and explore the world.

His love and passion for wandering was exploited for bad. He became a vessel against his will.

Bonnie Aarons as Demon nun

Bonnie was the queen of jump scare in this movie. Wherever she went, horror prevailed; I'm certain you wouldn't expect less from a demon.

The demon nun was the protagonist in the movie who by all means wanted to get hold of an ancient and holy relic of the Catholic church–Saint Lucy's Eyes. This relic was supposed to give her more power.

Katelyn Rose Downey as Sophie

Sophie is another major character in the movie. She was very close friends with Maurice who stood by her when other girls her age made jokes about her and constantly looked down on her. She was the first girl in her school to sense the presence of an evil force in her boarding school and she partially opened up to Maurice about it.

Along the line, she had to face this demon and she played her part to aid the exorcism of the demon.

My Opinion.

This was a nice movie to watch. The jump scares, the dark scenes, the eerie scenes. The swirl of all the elements was just amazing. It felt good to see the second part of the movie after waiting for so long.

Although the director for the second movie was different from the initial movie director, the quality of the movie didn't dwindle. Normally, it is easy to detect when a movie director has been replaced, but Micheal Chaves did a really beautiful job.

I like that there is a link between the first and the second parts of the movie. With the way the second part ended, I'm certain that there is definitely going to be a third part maybe in the next five years.

Recommendation.

I know that not so many people like to see horror movies, especially movies that involve demons and exorcism, but if you do, then you should check this out. This movie is recommended. If you saw the first part and thought it was okay, then the second part wouldn't be any different.
