Film "I don't need art! " / 映画「アートなんかいらない ! 」(ENG/JPN)

A problematic work for 2021? It seems to be a film that looks at art from various angles based on interviews with people involved in the art world, such as the current state of art in Japan, the statement by the German Minister of Culture during the pandemic that "art is essential for sustaining life," and what Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain" was all about.

The above movie is its trailer.

The reason I say "seems" is because I have not seen the full-length version of the film, but if you go to YouTube and type in "I don't need art," you can see the trailer as well as several after-talk videos. I watched some of the aftertalk videos along with the trailer, and it seemed to me that he was very much immersed in art.

Even Shusaku Arakawa, who is said to have abandoned art, says that the old-style art museums will disappear, and that from now on, towns will become art museums. I was reminded of the importance of art.

But I hesitate to watch the film because it is too long, 98 minutes for the first part and 89 minutes for the second part.

2021年作の問題作？らしく、日本におけるアートの現状や、パンデミックの中のドイツ文化相の発言「アートは生命の維持に不可欠」とか、マルセル・デュシャンの「泉」は何だったのか、など、美術関係者などのインタビューをもとにアートを様々な角度からとらえた映画のようです。

ようです、って書いたのは私はこの映画の本編を見ていないからですが、ここでYouTubeにて「アートなんかいらない」と入力して検索すると、予告編とともにアフタートークの動画をいくつか観てみました。そしたらすごくどっぷりアートに浸かってるように思いました（笑）

アートを捨てたとされる荒川修作にしても、今までの旧態依然とした美術館はなくなるだろうと言っていますが、これからは町が美術館になる、と。やっぱりアートは大事なんだと、私などは思いを強くしましたね。

でも本編は2部作で、第1部が98分、第2部が89分と、長すぎてちょっと観るのを躊躇します。
