TV Comedy Struck Gold With Mr Bean - 90s TV Show

Movies have become a big part of my life as I find some of the storytelling very interesting, some funny and some not so good. Growing up, I watched a fair amount of TV and though, I did not get to watch a lot of the 90s or 80s TV shows, the one I am thankful for watching has got to be non-other than Mr. Bean. Mr Bean is one of the shows that probably influenced by love for TV shows. Wherever I found an episode of Mr. Bean playing on TV, I had to stop, watch and laugh my heart out. I could have probably spoken about the FRIENDS Tv show but I watched only 4 seasons of that and though I like it very much, I'll talk about Mr Bean today.

Mr. Bean played by the ever- loving Sir Rowan Robertson Atkinson is a comedy genius who played the perfect role without a lot of words. What drew me to the show was that the main character was clearly an adult who behaved child-like. But unlike kids, he was a man of very very few words. I am finding it hard to remember him utter more than two or three words.

Mr Bean was a character who found it hard to complete his daily tasks. He made them seem hard than they actually were and every attempt to rectify a mistake caused more problems. How he at the end of the end managed to get his tasks done were what made his character lovable and very comical.

The exam episode is one I will never forget as Mr Bean prepares to take his trigonometry exam. He walks into the examination hall, takes his seat and unlike him, says more than 3 words. He exchanges greetings with the one he is sitting by and goes on to do exactly what his mate does. His mate arranges his pen and pencil in preparation for the exam to start and Mr Bean does same. The funny thing is when Mr B turns it into a challenge and proceeds to remove bundles of pens and pencils from his pockets and sets them up on the table. He goes on to remove some more items from his bag and sets them on the table. You will see on his face how satisfied he feels after doing that.

Mr Bean in the same exam hall goes on to create an iconic scene that has become a special meme on twitter and other social media. Even Elon Musk used this to mock Meta. He gives us different ways to copy in an examination which are very hilarious. The way he slid from his spot to his mate’s and back still gets me till date. The way he blows over the paper and manages to see when the guy hides it is innovative.

The funny thing about all these styles is that they were completely unnecessary since that wasn’t the paper he was supposed to be writing. You know sometimes when you concentrate too much on copying that you even forget to read anything on your question paper? That is exactly what happened to Mr Bean after he wasted hours copying and sleeping only to realize he messed up big time. I’m not sure I have seen anyone write faster than how he did in the dying minutes when he realized the mistake.

This is not necessarily a review to the tv show Mr Bean because I feel everyone has watched it though I might be very wrong. I will rate this 10/10 every time I am asked and for those who haven’t watched it yet, I am convinced you will enjoy it when you give it a shot.
