Maze Runner: Trilogy [ENG/ESP]

It's not TBT Thursday, but this weekend I remembered one of the trilogies that I liked at the time, so much that made me read most of his books (I say so because I know that the author released some later, but I didn't get them) and I wanted to share my opinions, the reasons why, according to me it was not so popular and declined in the audience; I also feel that the books are much better, they change many things with respect to the film, so it also depends on each one, although for me I liked both, they were not the best movies at the time, I must emphasize.
Maze Runner: Trilogy…
Based on the novels by James Dashner, the director Wes Ball, brings us a story in 3 parts: The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) and Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018); carrying the same names as the novels. Science Fiction, suspense and action genre.
What is the plot about?…
The story begins when a young man wakes up in an ascender, which is rising rapidly until you reach a place known as the “Clear”, upon arrival a group of only boys receive him saying that he arrived a new one; immediately they ask his name and to which he responds “Thomas and the strangest thing will be what he and his other companions remember. In the course of the story, we are given to know each of the young people present there and that each arrived at certain intervals of time, along with supplies and that is locked in the center of what looks like a maze; there comes into play the runners, who are chosen to go to the maze and try to get a way out of that place and in turn, escape from some strange creatures.
Everything changes when a new member arrives, which in this case would be a woman, which puts everyone on alert, altering the order they already had established; after that, Thomas along with his companions manage to find a way out of the maze, learning that a virus arrived through a supposed solar flare, and after that, certain children were born immune to it, so they became experiments in trying to find a cure for it.
The young people are rescued from CRUEL, by a group of people who supposedly take him to a safe place, however, in time they learn that they are the same CRUEL, escaping with other new companions, entering “La Quemadura” a place covered by sand, with a post-apocalyptic scenery. Thomas and his friends ended up facing in this trip to people who have been infected by this mysterious virus and act as a species of zombies, called Cranks, also find survivors who will try to find a safe place, both the Cranks and CRUEL.
Even so, it will not be an easy task, he will go through many difficulties: losses, betrayals and a cure that seems more deadly than the disease itself. Will he be able to find a place where he can survive? What is hidden behind the cure of the Flare?
Personal opinion
I started watching Maze Runner first because a fellow student recommended it at the time and second, because one of my favorite actors of the moment, Dylan O'Brien, would be the protagonist of it. I must admit that the first installment captivated me, the mystery about the virus and why they didn't remember anything and how they got there, made me want to know more, so after watching the Maze Runner, I decided to look for the books before the second movie was released.
To my surprise, the changes in the book were notorious, but nothing that aggravated the story, the opposite happened with the second installment, I wanted to see several elements of the plot that the book described very well and that the film did not adapt in its entirety, completely changing the way certain things were presented, that is to say, it followed the same thread of the plot, but with other points of view. And the same happened with the third installment, I know that in the movies there is more freedom to transform scenes and scripts of the novel, to make it not only more condensed, but more understandable, even so, the book kept you in much more suspense and took you into that world of science fiction that, in my opinion were well executed, although some found it confusing the last books of the trilogy, I found them very intriguing and dynamic.
But, not everything is bad, besides the good performances, especially Dylan who knew how to embody the young Thomas very well; the production kept a good pace, consistent and full of lots of action, I also consider that the special effects are pretty decent and are a little close to the landscape that makes us imagine the books.
Positive points…
-Quite an intriguing premise, which keeps you in mystery.
-Well-praised performances.
-Decent pace, full of lots of action.
-The scenes, to me, are decent and with a quite attractive visual effect.
-They give closure to the story, which is commendable.
Negative points…
-Diferencias bien marcadas con referencia a los libros.
-There are certain confusing elements that did not lose the tension that had been building up.
-There are points in the characters and organizations raised that do not have much coherence.
Score I give it…
8/10 Story │ 9.5/10 Performances │ 7.5/10 Sound │ 8/10 Stage │ 8/10 Overall.
Maze Runner had a good base to give us a fascinating story, where mystery and enigmas were its strong point, but it declined in many aspects due to the lack of relation and logical sense in its plots, added to the fact that, at the time, The Hunger Games and Divergent Games were being released, so those stories overshadowed it. Even so, if you want to have a moment full of action and suspense, I recommend watching Hashner's trilogy, as well as reading it.

No es jueves de TBT, pero este fin de semana recordé una de las trilogías que me gustó en su momento, tanto que hizo que leyera gran parte de sus libros (lo digo así porque sé que el autor saco unos después, pero no las conseguí) y quería compartirles mis opiniones, los motivos que, según yo no fue tan popular y decayó en la audiencia; aunado que, siento que es mucho mejor los libros, cambian muchas cosas con respecto al filme, por lo que también depende de cada quién, aunque para mi ambos me gustaron, no fueron las mejores películas en su momento, debo resaltar.

Basadas en las novelas de James Dashner, el director Wes Ball, nos traen una historia en 3 partes: The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) y Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018); llevando en sí, los mismos nombres que las novelas. De genero Ciencia Ficción, suspenso y acción.
¿De qué va la trama?…
La historia comienza cuando un joven despierta en un ascender, que va subiendo rápidamente hasta llegar a un lugar conocido como el “Claro”, al llegar un grupo de solo chicos lo reciben diciendo que llego uno nuevo; de inmediato le preguntan su nombre y al cual responde “Thomas y lo más extraño será lo que él y sus demás compañeros recuerdan. En el transcurso de la historia, se nos va dando a conocer a cada uno de los jóvenes ahí presente y que cada uno llego en determinados intervalos de tiempo, junto con provisiones y que se encuentra encerrados en el centro de lo que parece un laberinto; ahí entra en juego los corredores, quienes son elegidos para que vayan hacia el laberinto y traten de conseguir una salida de ese lugar y a su vez, escapar de unas extrañas criaturas.
Todo cambia cuando llega un nuevo integrante, que en este caso sería una mujer, lo cual pone a todos en alerta, alterando el orden que ya tenían establecido; tras ello, Thomas junto con sus compañeros logran encontrar una salida a ese laberinto, enterándose que un virus llego a través de una supuesta llamarada solar, y tras ello, ciertos niños nacían inmunes a él, por lo que se volvían experimentos al tratar de encontrar una cura hacia la misma.
Los jóvenes son rescatados de CRUEL, por un grupo de personas que supuestamente lo llevan a un lugar seguro, sin embargo, al tiempo se enteran que son el mismo CRUEL, escapando con otros nuevos compañeros, adentrándose en “La Quemadura” un lugar cubierto por arena, con una escenografía postapocalíptica. Thomas y sus amigos se terminaron enfrentándose en ese viaje a las personas que han sido infectadas por este misterioso virus y que actúan como especies de zombis, llamadas Cranks, asimismo encontraran a sobrevivientes que trataran de buscar un sitio seguro, tanto de los Cranks como CRUEL.
Aun así, no será una tarea fácil, muchas dificultades atravesará: perdidas, traiciones y una cura que pareciera más mortal que la propia enfermedad ¿serán capaz de encontrar un lugar donde pueda sobrevivir? ¿Qué se esconde detrás de la cura de la Llamarada?
Opinión personal
Yo comencé viendo Maze Runner primero porque una compañera de estudio la recomendó verla en su momento y segundo, porque uno de mis actores favoritos del momento, Dylan O’brien, sería el protagonista de la misma. Debo admitir que la primera entrega me cautivo, el misterio sobre el virus y el porque no recordaban nada y el como llegaron ahí, me daba ganas de querer saber más, por lo que luego de verla el corredor del laberinto, me propuse a buscar los libros antes de que sacaran la segunda película.
Para mi sorpresa, los cambios del libro eran notorios, pero nada que agravara la historia, caso contrario sucedió con la segunda entrega, quería ver varios elementos de la trama que el libro describía muy bien y que el filme no adaptó en su totalidad, cambiando completamente la manera de como se presentaban ciertas cosas, es decir, seguía el mismo hilo de la trama, pero con otros puntos de vista. Y lo mismo sucedió con la tercera entrega, sé que en el cine hay más libertad de transformar escenas y guiones de la novela, para hacerlo no solo más condensado, sino más entendible, aun así, el libro te mantenía en mucho más suspenso y te adentraba a ese mundo de ciencia ficción que, al mi parecer estaban bien ejecutados, aunque algunos la encontraron confusas los últimos libros de la trilogía, a mi me resultaron bien intrigantes y dinámicos.
Pero, no todo es malo, además de las buenas actuaciones ejecutadas, sobre todo Dylan que supo encarnar muy bien al joven Thomas; la producción mantuvo un buen ritmo, consecuentes y llenas de mucha acción, además considero que los efectos especiales están bastante decentes y se acercan un poco al paisaje que nos hace imaginar los libros.
Puntos positivos…
-Una premisa bastante intrigante, que te mantiene en misterio.
-Actuaciones bien elogiadas.
-Un ritmo decente, lleno de muchas acciones.
-Las escenas, se me hacen decentes y con un efecto visual bastante atractivo.
-Dan cierre a la historia, lo cual es elogiable.
Puntos negativos…
-Diferencias bien marcadas con referencia a los libros.
-Hay ciertos elementos confusos que no hicieron perder esa tensión que se había estado formando.
-Hay puntos en los personajes y las organizaciones planteados que llegan a no tener mucha coherencia.
Puntaje que le doy…

Maze Runner tenía una buena base para entregarnos una historia fascinante, donde el misterio y los enigmas eran su punto fuerte, pero decayó en muchos aspectos por la falta de relación y sentido lógico en sus argumentos, aunado que, en su momento, estaban estrenando los Juegos del hambre y divergentes, por lo que dichas historias llegaron a opacarla. Aun así, si quieres tener un momento lleno de acción y suspenso, te recomiendo ver la trilogía de Hashner, además de leerla.

Coincido contigo en que la primera película fue la más potente, te dejaba súper enganchado con el misterio del laberinto y todo eso. Luego sí, es verdad que a partir de la segunda peli empezaron a desviarse bastante más de los libros... A mí personalmente también me gustaron más los libros en general, sentía que tenían más detalles y el mundo era como más complejo, ¿sabes? Buen post recordando la saga!
A mi también me gustaron los libros y de verdad me hubiese gustado ver estos de las plataformas que teletransportan y todo ello, si le faltó, pero aun así la historia es intrigante y triste en ciertos momentos. Muchas gracias por leer mi post 😊
Recuerdo la fama que tuvieron las películas y ver lo emocionante de la primera. Aunque no llegué a ver las demás (realmente no recuerdo porqué), lo cierto es que era la trama perfecta para una audiencia de adolescentes o adultos jóvenes que buscaban algo un poco más profundo y emocionante. Lástima que hayan perdido un poco el rumbo en las otras dos películas pero al menos imagino que siguen siendo películas entretenidas
Si, era una de las películas del momento, como los juegos del hambre y divergente. Realmente emocionaban al publico selecto, y creo que aun sigue haciéndolo, por lo menos una la ve y se entretiene, sobre todo con la primera, que la tensión y el suspenso se siente más.
