My Opinion of I'll Be Back (2023)/Mi Opinión de Volveré (2023) [ENG/ESP]

This is the story of Alejandra (Blanca Salces), a woman who seemed to have her life under control—a good job, wonderful children. Although she was divorced, everything was going smoothly. Living near her brother, she saw how her sister-in-law was struggling to care for her daughters; she wasn’t looking for work, and despite suffering from a severe headache, she refused to see a doctor to avoid spending money—a woman who was somewhat difficult to deal with, so Alejandra just stood by and watched—until one day her brother Salvador disappeared, supposedly to cover a documentary about a Canadian company that had caused ecological damage after experiencing problems in its mining operations, thereby harming not only the environment but also the people living nearby.

Apart from that, people were disappearing without a trace or any reports of their whereabouts—only comments from neighbors—which made Alejandra suspicious, but out of fear of getting involved, she carried on with her life—until, through life’s twists and turns, her sister-in-law died, the family dog went missing on the street, and her brother disappeared. She was left to care for her nieces alongside her mother, trying to get by until she heard from her brother, but things get more complicated, because the disappearances stemming from her investigation into that ecological damage go beyond a mere scare; people start threatening them and spreading fear that something bad will happen to them if they get involved.

At first, everything seems to be in chaos for Alejandra; she loses control of what she thought she had. Now unemployed and caring for four children—her own and her nieces—she relies on her mother, who, though an elderly woman, tries to give her all the support she can. it seems like life is getting harder for her. Even though she goes shopping to pass the time or look at her problems from a different angle, she reaches a point where sadness and problems consume her—until she can understand that love is the driving force that can pull you out of it all. It’s not easy; certainly, a situation like this is very distressing and makes you want to give up in the face of all the problems. But when you have someone to fight for and keep giving your best, you have to keep going, falling down but getting back up until everything can stabilize.
