Se trata de la historia de Seok-woo (Gong Yo) un hombre trabajar obsesivo, financiero, padre divorciado, a cargo de su hija quien se siente sola ya que él se pasa puro trabajando, en el cumpleaños de su hija decide ir a Busan donde se encuentra su exesposa, para que la hija pueda pasar con ella un rato, dirigiéndose en tren, van juntos a pasar un rato con su mamá, sin embargo, no se esperan un ataque de zombies, ya que al momento que parte comienzan un caos en la ciudad y un pasajero enfermo entra ello creando el terror entre todos los que ahí se encuentran.

Es ahí cuando comienza el caos dentro del tren, ya que esta persona con solo morder comienza a transformar al resto así como unos zombies comiendo carne humana, empieza la desesperación y los que pueden alejarse se van reuniendo en los diferentes vagones, pero todo se vuelve difícil para Seok-woo ya que solo piensa en proteger a su hija dejando a un lado los demás como paso con Sang-wha y su esposa embarazada Seong-kyeong quienes casi los deja a un lado por el hecho de solo pensar en él.

Ciertamente es un momento crítico, no saben lo que pasa, simplemente ven personas transformándose, comiéndose, y generando más muertos vivientes que sobrevivientes, parece una simple historia de zombies, pero no es así, la lucha por sobrevivir y entender que mientras más se apoyen entre todos es mejor, que no sabes con quien podrá contar y salvarte la vida, sobre todo cuando crees que tienes apoyo y solo con los que están ahí es con quienes deberás aferrarte.

También es una película para entender que las decisiones que tomes te salvaran la vida o simplemente arruinaras tanto la tuya como las del resto, Seok-woo era un adicto al trabajo pero hasta qué punto decidió trabajar sin darse cuenta lo que realmente así y las consecuencias que este traería, su hija Su-an, lo es todo pero se había olvidado de ello, en este punto donde es dar todo o nada para seguir viviendo lo hace entender que el confiar y ayudar nunca esta demás, sobre todo es una situación así, que hay que entender que si el miedo te pueda causar confusión y paralizarte pero no por ello debes rendirte, hay que continuar hasta el final y no dejar a nadie atrás. Es una historia que te crea suspenso desde el principio hasta el fin.
