Welcome to a new post for film and TV lovers! Today I'm bringing you "Soccer or Me," a comedy that also reflects real-life situations, showing that addictions aren't limited to hard drugs (let's call them that for clarity). I hope you enjoy the review. I've included the Netflix link so you can watch it and let me know what you think! 💫

This comedy isn't one of my favorites, as it deals with topics I don't particularly care about, like soccer. While I understand the couple's dilemma, it's treated almost like an addiction, as it threatens to ruin the protagonist's life. He loves soccer so much he's a fanatic that he once went to three matches in a single day. This leaves him with little free time, unable to fulfill other important aspects of life, such as his relationship with his partner and daughters, and even negatively impacting his work.

Even at his mother-in-law's funeral, he's more focused on soccer (with his two friends, who are somewhat like him) than on supporting his family during this difficult time. This leads him to join a support group to recover everything he's lost: his job, his relationship with his partner and daughters, and to focus on what truly matters and understand that drugs can be beneficial in small doses.

Life can get difficult, but in this comedy, what truly matters is always in focus: understanding others and helping them so that something that occupies them a lot can continue to be a source of pleasure, but in balance with other aspects of life.

This scene is quite funny because the character doesn't know his true addiction and believes it's alcohol. This highlights a bit of the film's message: not everything bad is illegal or well-known. Out of ignorance, we tend to judge things we might even do with other drugs or behaviors, but because they're legal and we don't know their history, we tend to judge them. Therefore, I'll share a debate from an Argentinian television program about marijuana, where professionals in the field and a musician try to give their opinions against those who are always closed off to listening to others. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy both the film and the debate.
