We have all felt love for someone at some time, but for various reasons that we sometimes invent ourselves, we let go of that opportunity and let it go by assuming that person will be there forever, until that situation comes along that makes us realize that we don't want to lose that person.

This is what happens in My Best Friend's Wedding, a film from 97, in which its protagonist Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) receives unexpected news. Her best friend Michael O`Neal (Dermot Mulroney) is getting married to a beautiful girl, Kimberly Wallace (Cameron Diaz) and she is invited to the wedding.

This drives her crazy and she decides to avoid the wedding at all costs, because according to her, the love of Michael's life is her. But she doesn't go alone, she goes with her other friend George, who is quite a character. Charming, witty and, although he doesn't seem very wise.

Esto es lo que pasa en La boda de mi mejor amigo, una película del año 97, en la que su protagonista Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) recibe una noticia inesperada. Su mejor amigo Michael O`Neal (Dermot Mulroney) contraerá matrimonio con una hermooosa chica,Kimberly Wallace (Cameron Díaz) y está invitada a la boda.

Esto la vuelve loca y decide evitar la boda a toda costa, porque según ella, el amor de la vida de Michael es ella. Pero no va sola, va con amigo George, quien es todo un personaje. Encantador, ocurrente y, aunque no lo parezca muy sabio. Este personaje es algo así como la voz de la conciencia de Julianne. Ella no le hace mucho caso, pero es, más o menos, así.

The characters chase each other. The bride runs out, the groom runs after her and, of course, Julianne runs after the groom. While all this chaos is going on, she calls George and tells him what's going on and he says, more or less, the following:

Julianne se inventa cuanta treta le viene a su mente, pero, todas se caen, porque a pesar de sus intentos el amor entre la pareja es puro y fuerte. Esto lenfurece más hasta que llega al punto más bajo de sus intentos.

Inventa un par de cosas por aquí, otro para por allá y todo termina en desastre. Una pelea, un malentendido y justo, en ese momento, que nunca voy a olvidar, surge un secuencia bastante interesante.

This is just one of the wow moments of the movie. The moment when she realizes that she is redundant. That sadly, she is not part of the equation and has to take the blame, tell Michael about her intentions and endure all his reproaches, which, in my opinion, is well deserved.

Afterwards, well, like any romantic comedy, you know what happened. The bride and groom have the big talk, they make up, they get married.... Julianne has no choice but to accept it and ends up at the party dancing with her best friend.

This romantic comedy full of adorable, witty and tender sequences shows us a woman who leaves the love of her life, but doesn't find out until she knows he doesn't love her anymore.

Este es justo uno de los momentos ¡Wow¡, de la película. El momento en el que ella se da cuenta de que sobra. De que tristemente, no es parte de la ecuación y tiene que asumir sus culpas, contarle a Michael sobre sus intenciones y aguantar todos sus reproches, lo cual, a mí parecer, lo tiene bien merecido.

Después, bueno,como en toda comedia romántica, ya saben lo que sucedió. Los novios tienen la gran conversación, se reconcilian, se casan... Julianne no le queda otra que aceptarlo y termina en la fiesta bailando con su mejor amigo.

Esta comedia romántica llena de secuencias adorables, ocurrentes y tiernas por demás, nos muestra a una mujer que deja al amor de su vida, pero que no lo descubre hasta que sabe que él ya no la quiere.

That's one of the things that this unique movie leaves me with, because it reminds me of that kind of relationships where one of the parties tends to be the one who always decides, while the other, always gives in, until the latter gets tired and makes the decision to not do it anymore and changes his or her life.

When I saw this unique movie the first time I was enchanted with the characters for me they were very fresh, especially George. I loved him. Also, I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz. I can't help myself.

Y es eso lo que realmente la conmociona. De alguna manera, este personaje supuso que Michael estaría siempre para ella y que no sería de otra manera. La realidad la golpea y le hace saber que el amor existe, pero que no se puede asumir que será eterno sólo porque se sienta. Es necesario estar allí para mantenerlo y ella nunca estuvo.

Esa es una de las cosas que me deja esta singular película, porque me hace recordar a ese tipo de relaciones en las que una de las partes tiende a ser el que decida siempre, mientras que el otro, siempre cede, hasta que este último se cansa y toma la decisión de no hacerlo más y cambia de vida.

Cuando vi esta singular película la primera vez quedé encantada con los personajes para mí fueron muy frescos, sobre todo, el de George. Él me encantó. Además, tengo que admitirlo, siento debilidad por Julia ROberts y Cameron Díaz. No lo puedo evitar.
