A character opens a window to a new perspective, feelings and realities with which we identify ourselves, for that reason, we keep in our minds those fictional heroes or heroines that marked our lives and make a movie unforgettable for us.

There are many characters. There are epic, despicable, witty, dashing, romantic, captivating, others not so much, comical, indomitable. Definitely, variety is the spice of life and that is why I know that each one of us has a list of our favorite characters and that is precisely what I want to share with all of you thanks to the perfect excuse that the CineTv community gives us with its contest

My list is full of great ladies and gentlemen, but, as we are in women's month, I decided to select only a group of female characters that I have always liked, so I will leave my male heroes for another publication.

Un personaje nos abre una ventana hacia una nueva perspectiva, sentimientos y realidades con las que vamos identificándonos, por esa razón, quedan guardados en nuestras mentes aquellos héroes o heroínas de ficción que marcaron nuestra vida y hacen que una película sea inolvidable para nosotros.

Personajes hay muchos. Los hay épicos, despreciables, ocurrentes, gallardos, románticos, cautivadores, otros no tanto, cómicos, indómitos. Definitivamente, en la variedad está el gusto y por eso sé que cada uno de nosotros tiene una lista con sus personajes preferidos y, eso es precisamente, lo que quiero compartir con todos ustedes gracias a la excusa perfecta que nos regala la comunidad de CineTv con su [concurso] (https://hive.blog/hive-121744/@cinetv/contest)

Mi lista está nutrida por grandes damas y caballero, pero, como estamos en mes de la mujer, pues decidí decantarme sólo por seleccionar a un grupo de personajes femeninos que a mí siempre me han gustado, por lo que dejaré a mis héores masculinos para otra publicación.

First of all, I want to tell you about Erin Brocovich, a rather tenacious, self-confident and persevering woman who soon discovers her ability to reach out to others by proving to be trustworthy and kind. This character played by my all-time favorite Julia Roberts, is a woman who shows us that you can always learn if you have the will to do it.

She, despite being an underappreciated and underestimated person by everyone, especially women, shows that you just need to have the courage to face anything even if your bank account is in negative balance. There is no reason to give up. Life is made with a strong footing and no punches pulled. That's what I take away from Erin.

En primer lugar, les quiero hablar de Erin Brocovich, una mujer bastante tenaz, segura de sí misma y perseverante que pronto descubre su capacidad para llegar a otros demostrando ser confiable y amable. Este personaje interpretado por mi favorita de siempre Julia Roberts, es una mujer que nos demuestra que siempre se puede aprender si se tiene la voluntad de hacerlo.

Ella, pese a ser una persona menospreciada y subestimada por todos, en especial por las mujeres, demuestra que sólo hae falta tener el coraje para enfrentar cualquier cosa incluso si su cuenta bancaria esté en saldo negativo. No hay porqué rendirse. La vida se hace con pisada fuerte y sin miramientos. Es lo que me llevo de Erin.

Francesca Johnson, the protagonist of Bridges of Madison, is another female character I like. Particularly, I think she is one of those women who gives herself permission to live a brief, but quite intense love affair that makes her get out of her monotony and feel alive again.

She surrenders to the pleasure of feeling like a woman at that time, of finding someone who looks at her and, even if only for a moment, listens to her and understands her, a reality that her family does not understand and assumes that she is fine as she is.

However, Francesca does not allow unbridled passion to prevail and lets reason prevail by staying by her family's side. She is an even-tempered woman who somehow knows how far to go. I would have liked the story to have been different, but we must recognize that she is not afraid to make decisions.

Francesca Johnson, la protagonista de Puentes de Madison, es otro personaje femenino que me gusta. Particularmente, creo que es de esas mujeres que se dan el permiso de vivir una aventura amorosa breve, pero bastante intensa que la hace salir de su monotonía y sentirse viva otra vez.

Ésta se rinde ante el placer de sentirse mujer en esa época, de encontrar a alguien que la mira y, aunque sea por un momento, la escucha y entiende, una realidad que su familia no entiende y asume que ella está bien así.

Sin embargo, Francesca no permite que la pasión desenfrenada se imponga y deja que prevalezca la razón quedándose al lado de su familia. Es una mujer ecuánime que, de alguna manera, sabe hasta dónde llegar. Me hubiera gustado que la historia hubiera sido otra, pero hay que reconocerle que no teme tomar decisiones.

Another of my favorites is Antoinette "Tony" Pinchot Bradlee. She doesn't have a leading role and even gets lost among so many facts in the plot of the movie The Post, The Pentagon Papers, but, in a conversation she has with her husband Bradlee, she says something that makes us reflect on the era in which the story takes place.

In a few words, Antoniette says that for someone who has always been afraid to speak up and assert herself, it was difficult to make a decision as transcendental as the one the protagonist had to make.

I'll tell you, this film is set between the 60s and 70s. After the death of the president of The Post newspaper, his wife has to take over, but intimidated by all the dominant men around her, she does not finish saying what she has to say to impose herself.

This was a very strong era for women. The voice of the man prevailed and, almost always, was relegated to the home environment, even though many had already managed to join the working masses, they were not respected. In this context, Bradlee comments to his wife that Kate Graham's attitude was cowardly and that she was not prepared for it.

Antoniettte confronts him with the reality of being a woman and this makes him change his perspective on the subject and, well, a series of events happen that you will see when you enjoy this film. This character becomes present and forceful at that moment to put on the table the perception of women in the world at that time and all that she had to face and could lose.

Otra de mis favoritas es Antoinette "Tony" Pinchot Bradlee. Ella no tiene un protagónico e, incluso se pierde entre tantos hechos en la trama de la película The Post, Los archivos del pentágono, pero, en una conversación que sostiene con su esposo Bradlee, ella dice algo que nos pone a reflexionar sobre la época en la que se desarrolla la historia.

Palabras más, palabras menos, Antoniette dice que para alguien que siempre ha tenido miedo de hablar e imponerse, era difíci tomar una decisión tan trascendental como la que la protagonista debía tomar.

Te cuento, esta película está ambientada entre los años 60 y 70. Después de la muerte del presidente del periódico The Post, su esposa debe asumir el cargo, pero ella intimidada por todos los hombres dominantes de su entorno, no termina de decir lo que tiene que decir para imponerse.

Esta era una época muy fuerte para la mujeres. Prevalecía la voz del hombre y, casi siempre, era relagada al ámbito hogareño, pese a que muchas ya habían logrado incorporarse a la masa trabajadora, no terminaban de ser respetadas. En ese contexto, Bradlee le comenta a su esposa que la actitud de Kate Graham era cobarde y que no estaba preparada para eso.

Antoniettte lo enfrenta a la realidad de ser mujer y esto hace que cambie su perspectiva del tema y, bueno, suceden una serie de eventos que podrás ver cuando disfrutes de esta película. Este personaje se hace presente y contundente en ese momento para poner en el tapete la percepción de la mujer en el mundo de esa época y a todo lo que debía enfrentarse y podía perder.

Next, I want to tell you about another woman with whom I clicked at second sight, because it was after watching the movie for the second time, when I felt identified with her. She is Leigh Anne Tuohy, protagonist of the movie called A Possible Dream.

This woman, seriously, is intimidating, strong, overwhelming and always knows what she wants. I wish I had half the strength and drive that she has. This woman is not afraid to lose friendships in order to put everyone in their place, much less when it comes to her family. That strength, drive and courage are what make her one of my all-time favorites.

One scene I will never forget from this movie is when she watches one of the workouts and notices that Mike is not focused. She gets up in her heels and walks over and her husband looks at her not understanding what's going on and she, without looking back, says something like "You'll thank me" and she did. Those aren't the exact words, but, more or less, that's the gist of it.

Seguidamente, quiero contarles de otra mujer con la que hice click a segunda vista, porque fue después de ver la película por segunda vez, cuando me sentí identificada con ella. Se trata de Leigh Anne Tuohy, protagonista de la película llamada Un Sueño Posible.

Esta mujer, en serio, es intimidante, fuerte, arrolladora y siempre sabe lo que quiere. Ya me gustaría a mí tener la mitad de su fuerza e ímpetu que ella tiene. Esta mujer no teme perder amistades con tal de poner a cada quien en su lugar y, mucho menos, cuando se trata de su familia. Esa fuerza, ímpetu y coraje son las que la hacen una de mis favoritas por siempre.

Una escena que jamás olvidaré de esta película es cuando ella observa uno de los entrenamientos y nota que Mike no está enfocado. Se levanta con todo y sus tacones y se va acercando y su esposo la mira sin entender qué pasa y ella, sin mirar atrás, le dice algo como que "Me lo agradecerás" y así fue. No son esas las palabras exactas, pero, más o menos, esa es la esencia.

Another one I also like is the evil, heartless and ruthless Bellatrix Strange from the Harry Potter saga. This woman is obnoxious, pedantic and left me breathless when she killed Sirius Black with no conisderation whatsoever. With her song "I killed Sirius Black, I killed Sirius Black" she earned all my contempt, but, she is a powerful female character.

Loyal to the bad guy without any regard, but loyal nonetheless. She is a woman who believes in her ideals even if they are perverse, she cannot be denied that she puts all her efforts to help her master Lord Voldermort. She is evil, yes, but she is still memorable.

Otra que también me gusta es la malvada, sin corazón y despiadada Bellatrix Strange de la saga de Harry Potter. Esta mujer es detestable, pedante y me dejó sin aliento cuando mató sin conisderación alguna a Sirius Black. Con su canción "Yo maté a Sirius Black, Yo maté a Sirius Black" se ganó todo mi desprecio, pero, es un personaje femenino poderoso.

Leal al malo sin ningún miramiento, pero leal al fin. Es una mujer que cree en sus ideales aunque estos sean perversos, no se le puede negar que pone todo su empeño en ayudar a su amo Lord Voldermort. Ella es mala, sí, pero no deja ser memorable.

Finally, I have the pleasure of telling you about Iris, one of the main characters in The Holiday, who meets a man with an extensive background in film and in life who soon realizes that she needs to rediscover herself and work on her love for herself in order to move forward.

This is how, subtly, this kind man offers her a few films in which different types of women are shown, all with specific life situations that recover their lives when they know themselves and make decisions based on their self-love.

In this way, Iris recognizes that life is on the other side of her old life, leaving that toxic relationship and retrying to start over with another love, other friends, another reality.... I saw this movie at a difficult time for me, it was kind of like watching myself in it, trying to overcome things and making decisions that changed my life, I think that's why I always remember it.

Por último, tengo el placer de contarles sobre Iris, una de las protagonistas de The Holiday, quien conoce a un señor con una amplia trayectoria en el cine y en la vida que, pronto se da cuenta de que ella, necesita reencontrarse a sí misma y trabajar en su amor por ella misma para poder avanzar.

Es así, como sutilmente, este amable señor le ofrece unas cuantas películas en las que se advierten distintos tipos de mujeres todas con situaciones de vida específicas que recuperan su vida cuando se conocen a sí mismas y toman decisiones basadas en su amor propio.

De esta manera, Iris reconoce que la vida está del otro lado de su antigua vida, dejando esa relación tóxica y reintentando comenzar de nuevo con otro amor, otros amigos, otra realidad... Esta película la vi en un momento difícil para mí, fue algo así como verme en ella, tratando de superar cosas y tomando decisones que cambiaron mi vida, creo que por eso es que siempre la recuerdo.

Oof! The list kind of went on a bit long, but I had a lot of fun writing about these women who became believable and unforgettable to me.

¡uff! La lista como que fue un poco larga, pero me divertí mucho escribiendo sobre estas mujeres que se hicieron creíbles e inolvidables para mí.
