Road House (2024): A Rough Ride With Fights and Fun

Sometimes It just good to watch some movies to keep yourself happy and it is very good for relaxation after some stressful week and I credit my friend who recommended this film for me cos I never felt any regrets on watching this.

Though,the moment i start watching
was one of those movies that you don’t think too much before watching, you just sit back and enjoy the ride. I actually remember the old Road House from the 80s with Patrick Swayze though don't really remember all the scene, so I was kind of curious how this new one will look like. Of course, it’s very different, but still it has the same spirit a tough guy cleaning up a mess in a wild place.

This time the main character is played by Jake Gyllenhaal. He is a former UFC fighter who end up working as a bouncer at a roadhouse bar in Florida. Right from the start you can feel he is a man running away from his past, but trouble just keep finding him like he got tied to it, the bar is always full of chaos, drunk people, and bad guys who don’t like rules. And that is where the action begin.

I really like the fight scenes in this movie. Oh, it amazes me a lot They were brutal, but also shot in a way that you could feel every punch and kick strongly. Jake Gyllenhaal looked very believable as a fighter, maybe because he actually trained a lot for the role. Some of the fights were a bit over the top, but honestly that is part of the fun. It’s not supposed to be realistic all the way, it’s about energy and excitement. And I really felt how real it was.

One thing that I also found interesting too was the mix of humor in between the action. Sometimes after a heavy fight, there is a small joke or some funny line that make you laugh. That balance makes the movie from feeling too seriously fight.

But I also noticed some weak parts. The story is very simple, nothing really surprising. Bad guys want to take over, good guy stand against them. And you see also some of the side characters don’t get enough attention, they just appear and disappear.

Still, I enjoyed the movie a lot. I mean Road House is not about deep storytelling, it’s vibe,the loud bar, crazy fights, and a man trying to do the right thing in his own rough way. It’s the type of movie you watch when you just want to see some entertainment without stress.

In the end, I feel this remake did justice to the name. It’s not perfect, but it deliver a fun and rough ride that fans of action movie will surely enjoy.
