Why Korean Movies and Drama Feels Different to Me
Hello everyone is this community I believe we are one big family with same goals been on the Blockchain.
Am not a fan of Korea movie or drama cos am so much in to Hollywood than Korean movie but I later find some passion to it recently through a friend of mine.
Let's say over the past few years I started watching some K-drama and also a couple of Korean films, and I can say it really change the way I see storytelling. There is something unique about the way they present both emotions and culture.
The first drama I watched was Boys Over Flowers, and at that time I did not even plan to watch it, it was a friend that push me into it. At first the language barrier make me uncomfortable, though it was been subtitle but reading subtitle is not always fun. But after few episodes I realize I was so into the story that I forgot I was even reading. The characters is real like the way they show love, family, struggle, even small daily things like eating noodles together.
Then one of my colleagues had to mention Train to Busan, telling me how interesting it was Later I watched Train to Busan which totally blow my mind. It was not only a zombie action film, it was also a strong emotional story about a father and his daughter. That is one thing I notice about Korean films, they always try to put emotions at the center, even when the story is action, thriller or comedy. You don’t just watch, you feel with the characters.
Korean drama also have this way of dragging you like you will felt like hanging in. You tell yourself “just one more episode” but before you know it, you are already in episode six and can’t stop. Sometimes it takes more than my spare time all the mix of romance, humor, sadness and sometimes unexpected twist make it very unrelenting and no choice than zo watch.
Of course, not everything is perfect. Some dramas are too long, some episodes feel like they are repeating the same problem over and over again. Also the cultural things sometimes confuse me, like the respect system or the way they address some older people. But at the same time it is also a good way to learn new culture, to see life in another angle.
For me, Korean movies and dramas are not just entertainment, they are a whole experience. They teach you about patience, about love in simple moments, about family bonds, and even about sacrifice. I’m glad I give them a try, because now they are part of what I enjoy the most in my free time.
