" Alakada" Bad and Boujee My Review
Boredom, look what you made me do. Well, I'm grateful that boredom did this thing to me because I feel like the only way I can conquer boredom and come out victorious is by keeping myself busy doing the things I love, and what is that one thing I love the most? Hmm, I love seeing movies, but don't call me a movie freak, though.
This movie came out in cinemas last year, and I've been waiting patiently for it to be released on other platforms so I can sacrifice my data to download it.
The plot
The movie tells the story of a woman named "Yetunde," a self-proclaimed social media influencer who has dedicated her life to spreading fake stories about herself.
Her friends helped her in achieving that online glamorous persona but then everything was cut short when she couldn't control her lies any longer.
Yetunde pursues her fame rather than staying true to herself, thereby forgetting the humble background she grew up in. As the story progresses, Yetunde tries to compel herself as she faces real-life issues, and in the midst of finding that right person to believe in her words for the one time that she needed that person, she didn't get that person.
My Review
Firstly, I'm gonna start by saying the truth is that when we get fond of telling lies and people have known us for the lifestyle, it will be very difficult for people to believe us when we are telling the truth because we've built our lives on lies. And that is what happened to Yetunde.
She lived her life in lies; everything that comes out of her mouth is unrelated to the truth. Even in the presence of someone who would have helped her, she used lies to chase that person away.
The movie takes us on a walk, part comedy, and part drama. The particular scene that made me laugh hard was the scene when a food critic hosted her and her friends for a date, and she went in there with her lies. That made the person who hosted the date walk out on them, leaving them to pay the bills, as you know it. She doesn't have the money to pay the bills, so they found themselves in the kitchen of the restaurant doing the dishes.
Beneath the humor, there is a pitiful observation of how some people will go to live in lies. Yetunde didn't care about anything, even at the moment when her younger sister was being abused by her boyfriend. Yetunde didn't say anything; rather, she made fun of the whole thing. "That part struck something inside of me." Then, I imagined what would happen if her sister died due to the abuse. What would she do about it then?. She showed she was selfish and didn't care about those around her, she was just after her fame.
In general the movie is incredible and there are alot to learn from it. I'm gonna rate this movie a 7/10. Images are screenshots from my phone.
Thank you for reading.
The movie is interesting and funny too, I just watched it too. But I don't just get her kind of lies, lie that everyone knows is a lie.
This movie sounds familiar but I don't just know. Anyways, the movie sounds like a good one to watch. A reminder that fake life no dey pay
