Hola Hivers cinéfilos, espero estén bien. Desde que ví un Review de esta película supe que tenía que ir a verla urgente, la verdad la historia se veía muy llamativa y que tuviera un poco o mucho de body horror sí está bien hecho te va a ser sentir repulsión, pero saben ¿que fué lo más llamativo? El que estuviera inspirada en el cuento de la Cenicienta claro, contado de otra perspectiva teniendo como protagonista a una de las hermanastra feas de Cenicienta, que de ellas muy poco se a hablado, su lucha por cumplir con los estándares de belleza de aquella época y como sería capaz de hacer lo que este en sus manos para lograr impresionar al príncipe, pero más al fondo de todo eso se esconde una realidad que es más cruda y cruel, el mantener un estatus social y perseguir la riqueza sin importar nada.

Hello Hivers cinephiles, I hope you are well. Ever since I saw a review of this movie, I knew I had to go see it right away. Honestly, the story looked really interesting, and even though it had a bit of body horror, if it's done well, it's going to make you feel repulsed. But you know what was the most striking thing? That it was inspired by the story of Cinderella, of course, told from another perspective, with one of Cinderella's ugly stepsisters as the protagonist, about whom very little has been said, her struggle to meet the beauty standards of that era, and how she would be capable of doing whatever it took to impress the prince. But beneath all that lies a reality that is harsher and crueler: maintaining social status and pursuing wealth at any cost.

Elvira y Alma se convierten en las nuevas hermanastras de Agnes, quién pierde a su padre al poco tiempo de casarse con su nueva madrastra quién quedará a cargo de ella, sus esperanzas se desvanecen cuando estás se enteran que tanto como su padre y su madrastra están en la banca rota y que el uno al otro pesaban que tenían dinero y no fué así, es cuando llega una invitación del castillo real invitando a todas las doncellas del pueblo para un baile donde el principe elegirá a su nueva esposa, Elvira quién evidentemente no cumple con los estándares de belleza de la época logrará hacer lo imposible para buscar conquistar al príncipe, desde operarse la nariz hasta incluso trajarse un parásito para bajar de peso, la madrastra ha usado los pocos recursos que le heredó su nuevo esposo para lograr que su hija se ponga bella mientras el cuerpo de su esposo es comido por los gusanos en alguna habitación de la casa, así de retorcido son las acciones que tomará esta familia para lograr su tan anhelado casamiento con el principe, por su parte Agnes también tiene su propias prioridades, cuando su madrastra la descubre acostandose con un joven del pueblo le prohibide ir al baile y la pone a trabajar como su sirvienta.

Elvira and Alma become the new stepsisters of Agnes, who loses her father shortly after marrying her new stepmother, who will be in charge of her. The stepmother has used the few resources she inherited from her new husband to make her daughter beautiful while her husband's body is eaten by worms in a room in the house. Such are the twisted actions this family will take to achieve their long-awaited marriage to the prince. For her part, Agnes also has her own priorities. When her stepmother discovers her sleeping with a young man from the village, she forbids her from going to the ball and puts her to work as her servant.

Algunas cosas que me gustaron en particulares de la película fueron que no se idealiza la vida de cuentos de hada como en películas que he visto anteriormente, aquí cada quién está consiente que el objetivo es buscar una mejor vida y el dinero, no el amor, también lo retorcida que se pueden volver las personas con el tema de los estándares de belleza que hasta en la actualidad es un problema en común, la película está contada desde otra perspectiva mucho más cruda y real, con tomas que pueden llevar a ser grotescas y bizarras e incluso pueden se muy fuertes de ver, otra cosa que también me gustó es que no hay mucho diálogo pero no hace tanta falta por que lo que estás viendo tiene tantos detalles que no los necesitas, en fin creo que es una de las mejores películas que he visto este años, se las recomiendo verla en el idioma original. Some things I particularly liked about the film were that it doesn't idealize fairy-tale life like in movies I've seen before, here everyone is aware that the goal is to seek a better life and money, not love. I also liked how twisted people can become when it comes to beauty standards, which is still a common problem today. The film is told from a much more raw and real perspective, with shots that can be grotesque and bizarre and even very difficult to watch. Another thing I liked is that there isn't much dialogue, but it isn't really necessary because what you're seeing has so many details that you don't need it.
