I am not really a fan of my country's movies, as such, I have limited numbers of our movies I watch. But late last year, there was a movie that everybody was talking about and the hype about the movie made me wanna give it a try.

I know I haven't been chanced to watch movies again like I used to. I have been a little busy lately and I don't have adequate time to watch movies and can't really recall the last time I saw a movie.

The hyped movie is called Citation A friend of mine transferred the movie from her mobile device for me and the movie settled for some months on my phone. I didn't have the time to watch it but one day I finally decided to give it a try, I spent a day watching the movie.
The reason why I think this is my favorite is that the movie is all about justice and right

CITATION is a Nigerian film directed by Kunle Afolayan, written by Tunde Babalola, the film was produced in 2020, a new movie available on Netflix.

Synopsis

The film is about a student who speaks after a university professor attempts to rape her and the reaction of the university institution to the claims. The film is broadly based on true events.

Moremi is a young girl in the movie Citation doing her master's program in school. She is the brightest student among her colleagues and the school adores her for her academic excellence.

Professor Lucien N'Dyare is Moremi's new lecturer, a renounced lecturer.
He came to Moremi's school to take them in their master class and program.
The moment prof. N'Dyare set his eyes on Moremi, he has been making plans of how to get her to his bed just as he has been doing with other students where he usually teaches.
Little did he know that Moremi was different, she is a girl that stood up for justice, and her right as a lady, and a student.

When he couldn't get her to his bed willingly, he attempted to rape her but Moremi escaped, and then she filed a report and a case against him.
The professor thought he would escape this case but his games were already getting to an end cause Moremi was out to get him and bring justice to all the female students who are sexually abused and harassed by their lecturers.
She gathered every bit of evidence she wanted to use against him and presented it before the judges.

In the long run, Moremi won the case against her lecturer Professor N'Dyare. She set the pace for other female students that are often abused by their lecturers and teachers.
She gave them the reason to stand up to their rights and not hide and shy away from it anymore.
To stand up and fight for justice and not suffer secretly in the hands of wicked and abusive lecturers.

Though this movie is newly produced, but it rose to the sixth most popular watched film on Netflix after its release.
I exceptionally think it's the best so far although I haven't really watched Nollywood movies to know if there were better ones but having watched this, I choose it as my country's best-released film with good reasons.

Rape being a case study, and featuring the most recent happenings in our country today. I often hear stories about how students suffer at the hands of their lecturers, how they have been sexually abused, harassed, and assaulted.
And if by any means they don't give in to the lecturer's demands, then their grades will have to suffer for it.

I couldn't think of a better movie for this contest other than this and this is the answer to question two out of three questions of the OCD community boost contest.
I am pleased to take part in this contest.
Looking forward to another community highlight contest.

Thank you for sharing this film, whose theme is a problem of our days worldwide. Abuse of authority and mistreatment of women must end, this is a good way to denounce and an example of courage that we must follow to defend our rights. Greetings.

Rape is one of the worst things the girls/ladies facing since many years and inspite of strict rules/penalty, it's not being getting under control.

English please. I don't understand this

Wow... I didn't know it was directed by Kunle Afolayan and written by Tunde Babalola. They make a wonderful duo then because they also worked on 'October 1' together and it was amazing.

I'm yet to watch Citation but I read about the story already. I'm gonna watch this soon.
