Wait… didn’t this happen in that movie?” – How Some Old Shows Low-key Predicted the Future
Have you ever had that weird moment when something big happens in the world and you’re like, “Wait… didn’t this happen in a movie or something?” Yeah. Same.
Thinking about that actually reminds me of one show — The Simpsons.
I don’t know how they do it, but there are a bunch of clips and theories floating around on social media showing things that The Simpsons predicted years before they actually happened.
Like, dead serious — they had an episode where Donald Trump becomes president, and then boom... fast-forward to 2016, it actually happens. Wild, right?
And that’s not even the only one. There’s this scene where they show people using smartwatches way before Apple even dropped the first one. Or another where a virus spreads from Asia and causes a global panic — sound familiar? 👀
Now, I’m not saying The Simpsons has a crystal ball or anything, but it’s kinda spooky how close they’ve gotten to real life events.
But it’s not just The Simpsons.
Have you ever watched the old movie Back to the Future II?
It came out in 1989 and had a scene where people were using video calls — way before Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet were even a thing. Back then, that must’ve looked like pure sci-fi. Now? Just another day of virtual meetings in sweatpants.
Or 1984 by George Orwell. Okay, that one's a book, but it’s another crazy example. It talks about this future where the government watches everything you do, like literally everything. At the time it sounded like a warning — now we have CCTV cameras on every corner, phone tracking, targeted ads that know you too well... makes you think.
And you know what’s funny? I don’t think the creators of these shows or books were even trying to predict the future. They were just imagining “what ifs,” playing around with ideas. But sometimes, those ideas age like fine wine — or like that one meme you can’t stop seeing everywhere years later.
It kind of makes you wonder: what are we watching today that might end up happening for real in the future? 🤔

To be honest, there are SOOO many shows that has made some scary accurate predictions (or guesses, more likely).
A show like Black Mirror take these things to the extreme. Now, what if Black Mirror is predicting stuff too (especially the episode with cameras in our eyes)?? 🤯
i can't say i disagree
