Almost five years have passed since the release of one of Disney's most popular recent films. Inspired by Colombian culture, this movie was a box office success in Colombia and received a warm welcome from its audiences.
A casi 5 años desde que se estrenó una de las últimas películas más populares de Disney. Inspirada en la cultura colombiana, esta película en su momento fue un éxito tanto en taquilla en dicho país por el gran recibimiento que hubo aquí por su gente.
Culture stands out here, since everything related to national pride is a serious matter, both for football and in their traditions, and they were very pleased that the great company of the mouse took them into account for one of its famous movies.
Aquí destaca la cultura, ya que aquí todo lo relacionado con el orgullo nacional es un tema serio, tanto para el futbol, como en sus tradiciones, y para ellos fue muy grato que la gran compañía del ratón los tomara en cuenta para una de sus famosas películas.
"Encanto" tells the story of a family blessed with a miracle that protects them, granting each member a magical gift that helps them in their daily lives and protects both themselves and the rest of the town's inhabitants. Mirabel Madrigal, the film's protagonist, is different from the rest of her family. While they typically receive their powers upon reaching a certain age, she is denied them during the ceremony, and this omission stigmatizes her, leading to rejection and neglect in a place where she is essentially considered useless. She dedicates herself to proving her worth, but in doing so, she discovers that some things are on the verge of breaking.
"Encanto" trata sobre una familia encantada con un milagro que los protege, dándoles a los miembros un don mágico que los ayuda con el día a día y para protegerse tanto a ellos como al resto de los habitantes del pueblo. Mirabel Madrigal, la protagonista de la película, es diferente al resto de su familia, pues al llegar a una cierta edad, obtienen sus poderes, pero ella en plena ceremonia no lo obtiene, siendo marcada por eso y a veces rechazada e ignorada, en un sitio donde básicamente la consideran poco útil. Esta se dedica a mostrar su valor, pero descubriendo algunas cosas que están por romperse.
The grandmother, the family matriarch, is somewhat strict and harsh, and is the most criticized character for how cruel she sometimes seems. Some see her as a villain, although that's not the context here. Instead, she's dealing with a harsh reality she's had to endure, which has led her to make certain decisions that make her appear mean, when in reality she's trying to protect them from harm. The issue lies in how she treated her son for something that was her own fault, so kicking him out is not something a mother should do.
La abuela, quien es matriarca de la familia, es un poco estricta y dura, siendo el personaje más criticado por lo cruel que a veces parece. Algunos la toman por villana, aunque aquí no existe ese contexto, sino una realidad dura que esta tuvo que vivir y que la ha llevado a tomar algunas decisiones que la hacen parecer que es mala, cuando realmente está buscándolos proteger de cualquier inconveniente. La cuestión está en la manera en la que trató a su hijo varón por algo que fue culpa de ella, por lo que el correrlo no es algo que una madre debía hacer.
This film was a complete success for Disney, as beyond its box office performance, it was very well received both in Colombia and around the world, with an effect similar to that of "Coco" due to its beautiful message, but even more so because it features what is now the company's most popular song. "No se habla de Bruno" remains their best song to date, even surpassing "Libre Soy," which leads me to mention that it also won awards such as the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. At the Grammy Awards, it took home three awards, including Best Song for Visual Media for the hit "No se habla de Bruno."
Esta película fue un éxito total para la empresa Del Ratón, pues más allá de la taquilla, tuvo un gran recibimiento, tanto en Colombia como en el resto del mundo, con un efecto parecido al de "Coco" por el bonito mensaje, pero aún más por tener lo que es hoy en día la música más popular de la compañía. "No se habla de Bruno" es hasta ahora la mejor música de esta compañía, aun por encima de "Libre Soy", lo que me lleva a mencionar que esta obtuvo también premios como el Óscar a la Mejor Película de Animación y el Globo de Oro a la Mejor Película Animada. En los Premios Grammy, se llevó 3 galardones, incluyendo Mejor Canción para Medios Visuales por el éxito "No se habla de Bruno".
I admit I'm a huge fan of the music in this movie; I even listen to it sometimes because it's so catchy. My kids love it too, and sometimes they put the movie on to watch it. Some people underestimate it, saying it's overrated, but the impact it had makes sense, and it's considered one of the best recent Disney+ movies. It's currently available on Disney+ in its original catalog, where it remained in the top 10 for many months. And if you enjoyed this movie, let me know.
Admito que soy muy fan de las músicas de esta película, tanto que a veces las escucho por lo entretenidas que son; a mis hijos les gusta también mucho, que a veces ponen la película para mirarla. Algunos la subestiman, dicen que es sobrevalorada, pero con el impacto que esta generó, le da sentido a por qué esta es considerada como una de las mejores últimas películas de Disney+. Actualmente, esta obviamente está disponible en Disney+ en su catálogo original, en donde se mantuvo en el top 10 por muchos meses. Y si a ti te gustó esta película, déjamelo saber.
