Netflix K-Drama - Squid Game and its decisions.
I actually have several points to take away from the world-famous K-drama. It goes without saying what the plot or story behind it is, since we all know what it is, but it's worth noting that the creator of this series is a genius, because absolutely every detail in it is a work of art. My real intention, however, is to make it clear that I'm against it, without meaning to offend or discredit this production. I'm no expert or anything, but giving my opinion wouldn't hurt.
Realmente tengo varios puntos que tomar del K-Drama de fama mundial. Está de más decir cuál es la trama o historia detrás de esta, ya que todos sabemos cuál es, pero cabe destacar que el creador de esta serie es todo un genio, porque absolutamente todos los detalles de esta son una obra de arte. Pero mi verdadera intención es dejar en claro en que estoy en contra, sin ánimos de ofender o dejar en mal a esta producción. No soy experta ni nada, pero dar mi opinión no estaría de más.
Starting with the first season, which has been very acclaimed. I want to say I have no complaints about it. I remember when this first season premiered, causing a stir on the internet with the short Red Light and Green Light. Everyone (including me) reacted in a surprising way to what this unusual Netflix show offered.
Comenzando por la primera temporada, que ha sido muy célebre. Quiero decir que no tengo ninguna queja de ella. Recuerdo cuando se estrenó esta primera temporada causando revuelos en internet con el corto de Luz roja y Luz verde, todos (incluyéndome) reaccionamos de manera sorpresiva por lo que ofrecía este curioso programa de Netflix.
I also remember crying like never before for several characters who began to die so suddenly, as these characters displayed something so unique: innocence, sincerity, and, very importantly, "humanity." But honestly, this is something we should have seen coming, because we already knew this was the context that was going to be handled here, where characters with the best characteristics were going to be eliminated to make the biggest impression possible.
Recuerdo también que llore como nunca por varios personajes que empezaron a morir tan repentinamente, ya que estos personajes mostraban algo tan único como: la inocencia, la sinceridad y muy importante “humanidad”. Pero sinceramente esto es algo que debíamos ver venir, porque ya se sabía que este era el contexto que se iba a manejar acá, en donde personajes con las mejores características iban a ser eliminados para causar la mayor impresión posible.
And just as shown at the end of the first season, this story would continue with the protagonist (Seong Gi-hun) pursuing the masterminds responsible for these macabre games. While the audience was thrilled with this wonderful news, many still said this was already starting to be a mistake; nevertheless, we all waited patiently for three years to be able to enjoy this next installment.
Y tal como se mostró al final de la primera temporada, esta historia seguiría con el protagonista (Seong Gi-hun) detrás de las mentes maestras que son responsables de estos macabros juegos. Si bien el público se emocionó con esta maravillosa noticia, pero aun así hubo muchos que dijeron que esto ya empezaba a ser un error; sin embargo, todos esperamos pacientemente 3 años para poder disfrutar de esta otra entrega.
While this second season stood out for its new cast members, it showcased a new set of characters who filled the void left by the previous ones and entertained everyone well this season. Such is the case with Cho Hyun-ju (played by actor Park Sung-hoon), a transgender character who didn't need to play the victim to promote inclusion. This was the key point, as she was a strong character who stood up for everyone's rights (especially her allies) until the very end. This character has been admired and loved by everyone, including me as a fan of her work.
Si bien esta segunda temporada destaco por los nuevos miembros del elenco, mostrando una nueva serie de personajes que han llenado el vacío de los anteriores personajes, y que han entretenido muy bien a todos en esta entrega. Tal como es el caso de Cho Hyun-ju (interpretada por el actor Park Sung-hoon) un personaje transexual que no necesito victimizarse para dar inclusión, y este fue el punto clave, porque era un personaje fuerte que defendió los derechos de todos (en especial la de sus aliados) hasta el final. Este personaje ha sido admirado y amado por todos, incluyéndome como una fan de su trabajo.
My problem with the series began with the second season finale, as they left the tension hanging in the balance. This left me extremely annoyed because I was so enthralled by the plot, which I felt had destroyed all my excitement for the K-drama. To be clear, I was incredibly annoyed by the fact that I had to wait longer to complete what I'd been waiting for for years.
Mi problema con la serie comenzó con el final de la segunda temporada, ya que dejaron la tensión a media. Esto me genero un disgusto muy grande porque estaba tan entretenida con la trama, que sentí que destruyo toda mi emoción por el K-Drama, porque para ser clara, me genero como un fastidio enorme el hecho de que tenía que esperar más tiempo para completar lo que por años estaba esperando.
It was obvious and obvious that this series was already complete, but Netflix had the brilliant idea to split it into two parts, and that way they could get more subscribers by the time the finale was released. And at this point, the third season didn't generate any excitement for me because the entire time I spent watching it, it disappointed me greatly and made me think it was boring.
Se sabía y se notaba por mucho que esta serie ya estaba completa, pero Netflix tuvo la gran idea de que podían separarla en dos partes, y así podían tener más suscripciones al momento de subir la parte final. Y ya en este punto, la tercera temporada no me genero ninguna clase de emoción porque todo el tiempo que paso me desilusionó mucho y me hizo creer que fue aburrido.
Although it's completely illogical, player 222 had her baby in the game and then died, and her daughter inherited her position in the game, as the creators thought it would be a good idea, but there was a reason behind it. Although the creator of the show had already made it clear that the ending was going to be different, it was decided to change it so that it wouldn't feel repetitive.
Aunque sin lógica alguna, la jugadora 222 tuvo su bebe dentro del juego y luego muere, su hija heredo su puesto en el juego, ya que los creadores creyeron que sería una buena idea, pero esto tiene un motivo detrás. Aunque el creador del programa ya dejo en claro que el final iba a ser otro, se tomó la decisión de que sería cambiada para que esto no pareciera algo repetitivo.
The VIPs were a mockery in the end. Even though it was clear behind their masks that these were American guests, we all loved the mystery they maintained. But when these millionaires were given the opportunity to play a script, they came across as deluded, surprised by everything, especially the decisions the players made to advance to the next round.
Los VIPS al final fueron una burla, a pesar de que se veía detrás de las máscaras que estos eran unos invitados Americanos, todos amábamos el misterio que mantenían detrás. Pero cuando se les dio la oportunidad de tener un guion a estos millonarios, se pintaron como ilusos con todo, les sorprendía todo, en especial las decisiones que los jugadores tomaban para poder pasar a la siguiente ronda.
If they're supposed to be rich people who are already used to these scenarios, why were they surprised by this? Or why do they seem like they're novices in the field?
Si se supone que son unos ricos que ya están acostumbrados a estos escenarios, ¿por qué estos se sorprendían con esto?, o por qué pareciera que son principiantes en el tema?
And my last big issue is the end of this arc. They show us a scene where we see a "Slapping Donut" in the United States, making it clear that these games are everywhere in the world. And some believe this is meant to kick off a sort of spinoff of the series, showing the beginnings of these games in North America.
Y mi último gran problema es el final de este arco. Nos muestran una escena en donde se ve a una “Dona Cachetadas” en Estados Unidos, dejando en claro que estos juegos están en todas partes del mundo. Y hay quienes creen que esto es para darle inicio a una especie de Spin Off de la serie, en donde se muestra los inicios de estos juegos en el país Norteamericano.
Many have already complained, making it clear that this franchise must end once and for all, and the simple fact that they recruit players with the famous Ddakji and not with a local game shows that this makes no sense and destroys the meaning of Korean games in the series.
Ya muchos se han quejado, poniendo en claro que esta franquicia debe finalizar de una vez por todas, y con el simple hecho de que reclutan a los jugadores con el famoso Ddakji y no con un juego local se demuestra que esto no tiene sentido alguno y destruye el sentido de los juegos coreanos en la serie.
But we have to give credit to its creator, because we all know he was forced to change his story to suit American tastes, and yet he did it masterfully. It's very clear how good he is at his job.
Pero hay que dar crédito a su creador, porque todos sabemos que estuvo obligado a cambiar su historia para el gusto americano, y aun así lo hizo de manera magistral, se nota mucho lo bueno que es haciendo su trabajo.
I guess we just have to wait for these variable Squid Game productions to be confirmed. We'll have to wait and see what big ideas they'll showcase for these new installments, because really, when it's obvious they're trying to squeeze every last drop out of something, it becomes boring and repetitive. Supongo que solo queda esperar a que se confirmen dichas producciones variables de Squid Game. Quedará esperar ver que grandes ideas mostraran para estas nuevas entregas, porque realmente, cuando se nota que quieren exprimir hasta la última gota de algo, lo vuelven aburrido y repetitivo.
