This Show Triggered My Worst Fear - "All Her Fault"
I was on my own, scrolling through IG reels when I came across a clip from a movie. The caption said, "This lady's husband is the definition of weaponised incompetence."

I mean, for me, that was all the info I needed to know. I was sold!. I got the name of the movie, raced to my movie app, and downloaded all 8 episodes. I even fried up some prawn crackers in preparation for what was to come.
And I promise you, the movie did not disappoint!
About the Movie
All Her Fault
Set in modern-day America. The series tackles sadness, pain, action, joy, female friendships, frustrating husbands, and weird sibling dynamics, among others.
The series follows a mother, Marissa, with a four-year-old boy. She learns that her boy was picked up from school by another parent's nanny, and she basically abducts the kid.
And through the series, we follow the police who inevitably get involved, and watch to see if the boy is returned. There are several plot twists in unexpected places and times. Just when you think you've figured out the storyline, they throw another plot twist in your face.
During the course of the search for her son, she makes a new friend, uncovers heavy secrets about her husband and his family, loses a close friend, and even discovers a couple of things about herself!
Several themes stood out to me in the series.
Female Bonding: I love how, during Marissa's sad times, her new friend - Jenny- a woman she barely knew but had previously shown kindness, stood at her side loyally and unwaveringly.

With her, Marissa felt safe to break down and feel her feelings fully without guilt or fear. Jenny took off some of the heavy load that Marissa had on her shoulders. She held her while she cried, and was silent when she needed it.
That proved to me how important it is, as a woman, to have good women in your corner. Women who would hold you when you can't hold yourself. That would love you and be there for you when you're weak.
The Frustrating Husbands: I mean, Jenny's husband in particular. Tell me why this man thought that he could be a part-time parent in his own home? He took care of the kids as if he were doing their mother a favour.
Mind you, they both brought in income. Her job even paid more than his. He was jealous of how much his wife was thriving in her job, and belittled her every chance he got.
He made life difficult for her purposely. When he was with the kids, he would disturb her with calls, knowing fully well that she was at work. When she was busy and couldn't care for the baby, she'd ask for help; he always had an excuse ready for her.

It was infuriating to watch. I mean, that's the reason I sought out the movie to watch in the first place. Watching such a vibrant woman become a single, married mother was so sad. That's legit one of my biggest fears.
Some of my best scenes, honestly, were all the times Jenny and Marissa hung out together and shared their feelings. It made me happy for both of them.
I loved the series; the acting was executed perfectly, the writing was flawless, the cinematography was 10/10, and the storytelling was mesmerising. I am a better human after having watched it.
I highly recommend you see it! Definitely qualifies for Greatest Series of All Time!!
