Everything, Everything is a definitely the best romantic film I’ve ever watched, and it made me feel everything a romantic film is supposed to make you feel. I watched it years back but I can vividly remember smiling for about 80% of the film. Everything Everything is a heartwarming, and emotionally film that quietly sneaks into your soul and lingers there. It ix based on Nicola Yoon’s bestselling novel (which I still hope to read some day) the story revolves around Maddy (played by Amandla Stenberg), a teenager who has lived her entire life indoors due to a rare illness that compromises her immune system, and Olly, the boy next door who brings color, hope, and the promise of a fuller life into her carefully controlled world by her mom. From the moment Maddy and Olly begin their message exchanges, the film captures something universally humane i.e. the deep yearning to truly live and not just exist. Amandla Stenberg delivers a breathtaking performance as Maddy, infusing the character with innocence, wonder, and bravery. Her expressive eyes and tender vulnerability draw the viewer into her confined world, making her rebellion very understandable. Olly is effortlessly charming, portraying not just a love interest, but a mirror to Maddy’s desire for freedom and want to explore the world.

The plot twist, when it comes, is jarring and painful, but also liberating. It reframes the entire story, revealing the fragility of trust, the complexity of love, and the cost of overprotection. Up to the point, of the plot twist we see Maddy as a fragile but spirited girl, trapped by circumstance, yet slowly finding her voice and autonomy through love and hope. Her illness, Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID), has been the defining fact of her life. It dictates her isolation, her relationship with her mother, and the tentative, almost sacred way she approaches the world outside her window.

The cinematography is also wonderful as to how it contrasts this visual world with bursts of imagination. When Maddy and Olly begin communicating through text, the film cleverly visualizes their digital conversations through imagined scenarios, placing them inside a miniature model of a diner or walking through a library that exists only in Maddy’s mind. These dreamlike sequences are whimsical, warm, and rich in color and texture, signaling her inner desire to break out of her confined world. It’s a subtle but powerful visual and as the story progresses and Maddy takes risks stepping outside, feeling rain, and eventually escaping to Hawaii the cinematography opens up. The music and soundtrack is just amazing also, Ludwig does and amazing job, like I still go to youtube to listen to the films soundtrack. The sounds of the ocean, the open air, and layered instrumentation create a sense fit every scene being played.

FOR ME THIS IS A 9.5/10 FILM☺️
