Movie Review - Wanda Vision
I was on Facebook one time, and I saw a trailer of the movie WandaVision, from the Marvel studio, and I was immediately hooked. I rushed to Movie Box and downloaded it. It's a one-season movie with nine episodes, and I just got done watching it. If you are familiar with the Avengers movie, you'll love this, as this is some sort of spinoff from ENDGAME.
THE PLOT
The movie started as a black and white 50's sitcom of newly wedded Wanda and Vision, who just moved into Westvuew to start a new life as a normal couple, concealing their superpowers.
However, the movie soon took a dive in a twisted turn where Wanda made friends with an African called Geraldine. We soon saw Wanda become pregnant and, with the help of Geraldine, delivered twin boys. Just as Wanda was telling her she was a twin who lost her brother, we saw Geraldine become emotional as she informed us that Wanda's twin, Pietro, was killed by Ultron, a revelation that upset Wanda as she used her abilities to kick Geraldine out of the sitcom.
We soon discovered that the sitcom was an illusion created by Wanda, who was a sitcom fanatic as a child. It turned out that Vision was dead as a result of Thanos ripping the Mind Stone out of his head in the movie Endgame. Wanda, who couldn't live with the pain, used her abilities and created an illusion of a life with Vision in a town where he originally wanted to build their home and start a life with her.
While Wanda created the perfect world and the perfect life, it came at the price of the freedom of the inhabitants of the town, as they were all mind-controlled to play different characters in Wanda's sitcom. An action that made Wanda classified as a terrorist and a threat to be taken down by the authorities.
As Wanda fought to keep the intruders out and shield her family from the harsh reality of existence, she soon got into a lot of plot twists that transferred her from the villain to the victim.
MY THOUGHTS
When I started watching this series, I thought I had downloaded the wrong movie due to the black and white sitcom I found distasteful. After several skips, I saw the movie transform into a colored sitcom, and gradually everything started to make sense. This was a really well-thought-out movie, and every character was a natural. Elizabeth Olsen really outdid herself as Wanda, and her chemistry with Vision flowed like a river.
I can't really say what I feel concerning the movie, but never have I seen the Scarlet Witch (Wanda) character as a villain. For someone who keeps losing those closest to her, her actions were greatly understood with such a power she possessed. This made me remember the popular phrase Villains are made, not born. From life's experiences I have come to gain some level of understanding of people's actions. I have also learned to consider the conditions surrounding a situation before playing judge.
Basically, for every villain there is a person who once had so much love to give, a person whom the world has stirred, and a person who fought back so hard that the pain got too overwhelming to keep fighting, so they just turned to the dark for comfort exactly like what Wanda did. With her family and lover killed right before her, I'd say that Wanda tried in still keeping it together by trying to play safe with her abilities.
This movie is just another reason for one to be compassionate and kind because you never know the darkness one has to endure behind close doors and then shield away from the public eye.
Sometimes all it takes to make a difference is that one person who sees the good in an individual despite the chaos. This we saw the Geraldine character do for Wanda and it was such a beautiful watch.
My rating for this movie broke the scale and I highly recommend for fiction lovers.
