Estoy muy feliz de poder estar en este espacio maravilloso que nos permite contar nuestra propia forma de ver las historias que nos brinda cada película. Tengo el gusto de poder contar mi versión analítica de la película Frankenstein dirigida por Guillermo del Toro.

This film has been very controversial because you either love it or hate it. I feel that people who hate this version of the film do so because when they hear the name Frankenstein, they automatically think of horror, the kind of film that naturally reflects humanity's worst nightmares and the limits of fear. If you are looking for that kind of film in Frankenstein, you won't find it in this version by director Guillermo del Toro.

Esta película ha sido muy polémica ya que o te puede gustar mucho o simplemente la puedes odiar. Principalmente siento que las personas que odian la versión de la película es porque al hablarles de Frankenstein automáticamente piensan en terror, en ese tipo de cine que naturalmente refleja las peores pesadillas de los humanos y los limites del miedo, si estas buscando en Frankenstein ese tipo de película, esta versión del Director Guillermo del Toro no la tiene.

So what kind of message and version does Guillermo del Toro convey in the film? - Entonces que tipo de mensaje y de versión narra Guillermo del Toro en la película?

I particularly feel that Guillermo del Toro gives us the version of Frankenstein that is most aligned with the message of Mary Shelley's book, where reality and fantasy converge in what it means to be a true monster. Basically, by creating the monster and bringing it to life, Doctor Victor is able to overcome his greatest obsession with death and life.

Particularmente siento que Guillermo del Toro nos brinda la versión de Frankenstein más alineada al mensaje del libro de Mary Shelley, y donde convergen la realidad y la fantasía de lo que significa ser un verdadero monstruo. Básicamente el Doctor Victor al crear al mostruo y darle vida es capaz de vencer su mayor obsesión con la muerte y la vida.

Victor's childhood was dominated by his father, who was very harsh and violent. This harsh upbringing shaped Victor's personality, making him a selfish, arrogant man, and of course, he also acquired violence as part of his personality.

La vida de Victor en su niñez estuvo dominada por su padre el cual fue muy duro y violento, esta misma crianza de rudeza hizo que la personalidad de Victor se forjara como un hombre egoísta, soberbio y por su puesto también adquirió la violencia como parte de su personalidad.

Beyond the cruelty or even psychopathy of piecing together dead bodies to fulfill his dreams of defeating death and creating life after death, Victor is able to achieve this goal halfway, or perhaps this is what he himself believes when he sees that the being he has created is not capable of being "very intelligent." However, Victor does not provide time, security, love, dedication, kindness, or empathy for the new being he has created.

Mas allá de la rudeza o la misma psicopatía de lo que significa unir piezas de cuerpos muertos para hacer posible sus sueños de vencer a la muerte y crear la vida después de esta, Victor es capaz de lograr este objetivo a medias, o tal véz esto es lo que él mismo cree al ver que el ser que ha creado no es capaz de ser "muy inteligente", sin embargo, Víctor no brinda tiempo, seguridad, amor, dedicación, bondad ni mucho menos empatía para el nuevo ser que ha creado.

So, there you have the director's message and the vision of the film: to show us that true monsters can be found within ourselves, and that we are capable of creating a pattern of behavior from parents to children that gives rise to the true monsters in society.

Asi, que alli va el mensaje del Director y la visión de la película, es mostrarnos que los verdaderos monstruos logran estar presentes en nosotros mismos, y que a la vez somos capaces de dar origen a una línea de patrones de conductas de padres a hijos que dan origen a los verdaderos monstruos en la sociedad.

In addition, the film also has a lot of symbolism and creative artistry with settings that capture the essence of the 1800s and the darkness of the film, as well as both protagonists, Victor Frankenstein and Frankenstein's monster himself, managing to give their own version of the story and how each of them lived that experience.

Además la película también tiene muchos simbolismos y un arte recreativo con escenarios que capta la esencia de la época de los años 1800 y de la oscuridad de la película, además que ambos protagonista tanto Víctor Frankenstein como el propio monstruo de Frankenstein logran dar su propia versión de la historia y la forma como cada uno de ellos vivieron esa experiencia.
