Un día mientras está de cacería Llelewlyn Moss termina descubriendo lo que quedó de una vez también de drogas frustrada, a pesar de saber que es mala idea no puede resistirse a tomar el maletín de dinero. El cazador termina siendo cazado por un matón cruel llamado Chigurh, y al mismo tiempo el alguacil Bell busca a Moss, y reflexionar sobre cómo el mundo ha cambiado y como un secreto que lleva con él lo atormenta.

Esta película es una adaptación de la novela del mismo nombre escrita por Corma McCarthy dirigida por Joel y Ethan Cohen, explora la moral y la oscuridad humana en los rincones de Texas en los años 80. La trama sigue una narrativa lineal que sabe aprovechar el ritmo y el silencio, haciendo que la tensión se acumule más y más en cada escena. La violencia es inevitable en esta historia y cada decisión de los personajes parece ser guiada por fuerzas fuera de su control.

El reparto es increíble, está Tommy Lee Jones interpretando al Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, un hombre viejo, cansado y que representa a la vieja moral, Josh Brolin interpreta a Llewellyn Moss un hombre que se deja llevar por su ambición por el dinero, y luego está Javier Bardem como Anton Chigurh un asesino que piensa con tanta lógica que es aterrador. Chigurh es uno de los villanos más aterradores del cine y cada escena en que aparece es emocionante y a la vez incomoda.

La película explora temas como la violencia, el azar, la poca moral y la impotencia ante el cambio, el mismo título menciona como se han ido perdiendo los valores y como las generaciones mayores les cuesta adaptarse al nuevo orden, además de mostrar como la justicia puede ser ambigua.

El filme es oscuro e inquietante, la ausencia de música incrementa ese efecto, la fotografía muestra la vastedad del desierto texano y combina con el tono desolador y de aislamiento, mostrando también la fragilidad de las personas.

También se explora el destino y la autodeterminación, se ve como cada personaje lo explora de una manera diferente, se muestra como las personas lidian con el bien y el mal, las actuaciones son perfectas, los escenarios , los diálogos, todo está muy bien planeado.

Se puede clasificar a esta cinta como un Thriller dramático, es ideal para cualquier amante de los filmes con tonos grises, Pero su final nos lo que llamaríamos un final precisamente feliz.

No es país para viejos es una película que muestra persecuciones y violencia, explora el bien y el mal, la vejez y el cómo parece que ya no se pertenece a un mundo cada vez más diferente, se combina muy bien una narrativa tensa con profundidad filosófica dejando a los espectadores con muchas más preguntas que respuestas. Se debe prestar atención y reflexionar a todo lo mostrado en pantalla y aceptar que veces no todo puede entenderse o resolverse, sin dudas es una de las mejores películas que se han hecho.
