Konge; movie review
Happy Sunday evening, everyone! I'd like to share my honest review of the Nigerian movie 'Konge,' you might be wondering what does this title means read with me to the end. It was produced by Wunmi Toriola. The movie tells the story of Tiwalola, a single mother played by Wunmi Toriola, and her daughter Shinaayomi.
Tiwalola had stopped telling men who wanted to have a relationship with her about her daughter because all the men she'd met in the past didn't want to be with a single mother. As soon as they'd find out about Shinaayomi, they'd leave her. However, her life changed when she met Fikayomi, a single father. They fell in love, and despite Tiwalola's initial hesitation to reveal her past, Fikayomi accepted her and her daughter.
Fikayomi's mother, however, was hesitant to accept Tiwalola due to her past experiences with single mothers. After some convincing, she eventually came around, and the couple got married. They were happy with their two children, Murewa and Shinaayomi, until tragedy struck. While the children were watching movies, Tiwalola sent Murewa on an errand, and on his way, he was hit by a car and died. Fikayomi's mother blamed Tiwalola for the loss, which added to the family's struggles.
Later, Shinaayomi estranged father, Bankole, reappeared after eight years of abandoning her mother, claiming his parental rights over Shinaayomi. This put Fikayomi in a devastating state, because he has a surgery on his private part and this has lead him to be infertile, that means he can't have a child of his own again. Fikayomi begged Bankole and explained his situation to him to release the child, but Bankole explained that he had been told to keep Shinaayomi in his territory to prevent him from dying young and that is why he come back to claim the child.
In my opinion, it would be best for Shinaayomi to go live with her biological father, Bankole, while Fikayomi could consider adoption. Or what do you think in this kind of situation. The title 'Konge' refers to meeting something, which can be either good or bad. Unfortunately, both Bankole and Fikayomi experience unfortunate events.
Despite the challenges, I found the movie engaging and thought-provoking. It highlights the challenges faced by single mothers and emphasizes the importance of responsible fatherhood. The movie teaches us that being a single mother is not a crime and that one should be proud of who they are. It also encourages irresponsible men to take responsibility for their children's lives.
Overall, I think 'Konge' is an interesting movie that explores complex family dynamics and relationships. I encourage you to watch it especially if you love Yoruba movie.

I’m not the biggest fan of Yoruba movies actually. This storyline which you’ve narrated, is an emotional one. Makes me want to watch it, just so I can know whether Bankole would be kind enough to release the kid and they find a solution together, or he takes the kid and succeeds in saving the child from early death.
Exactly, is a very interesting movie
