Game of Thrones- Cersei the mother

I have always been a fan of medieval films, make it a series spiced up by magic and hey!!! You've won me over for life as the scene of castles, knights and their system of governance which is usually monarchy amuses me. I have watched a lot of movies with these very characteristics over the years but one that stands out the most to me going as far as becoming my favorite film of all time happens to be Game Of Thrones.

I mean everything about this series resonates brilliance ( excluding the last two seasons). It literally had everything one yearns for in the world of entertainment, impressive story telling, great world building, unpredictable, suspense, relative plot and characters the audience can connect with.

The series tells the story of a nation split into seven kingdoms ruled by a monarch by the name of Robert Baratheon. King Robb travels to Winterfell seeking the help of his friend Eddard (Ned) Stark to become his second in command after his previous aide was allegedly murdered. After moving to King's landing the capital of all seven kingdoms, Ned discovers a lot of irregularities in the kingdom but before he could do anything about it his friend the king dies from a vital injury gotten from a boar hunt. This sends the kingdom in a series of turmoil ending with the Ned losing his head by orders of the king's first son on the charge of conspiring to Usurp the throne. Angered by this, the Starks begin a war crusade to avenge their Ned and also rescue his two daughters which ultimately leads into full blown chaos in the entire realm oblivious of the unknown threat beyond the wall.

The series is laced with a lot of intriguing characters that at some point it becomes extremely difficult to ascertain who the protagonist truly is. The audience eventually ended up choosing characters they found interesting. However this also turned out to be a Fool's errand as most likeable characters end of dying🤣🤣🤣.

Personally my favorite character is Jon Snow and have also had this feeling deep down that the entire plot revolves around him even though he was given a pretty messed up ending regardless of his sacrifices. But despite my intense attraction for Lord Snow, I cannot help recognize a particular character that stood out massively and to some carried the entire story. This character is none other than Cersei Lannister herself I mean you cannot help but notice her as she even has one of the most memorable lines in the franchise: power is power.

Cercei was the personification of characters people enjoy hating, she was ruthless, cunning, manipulative, cruel and was happy to murder anyone who dared question her quest for power. I watched this woman get her way in all eight seasons of the series ready to sacrifice friends, family and foes alike for her goals.

Nevertheless, there was still one humane feature she possessed unruly behavior and all - The love for her children. Cercei had three children Joffery, Myrcella and Tommen and they were all sired by her twin brother Jaime Lannister. There was no length Cersei wouldn't go to to keep her children safe. Say what you may about how unlikable her character was in the entire series, you cannot overlook the sincerity of her love for her kids.

When her younger brother Tyrion proposed her daughter be shipped off the capital for her own safety, she caused quite the scene vowing to make his life a living hell as she hated the thought of being away from her children even when she knows that is the best course of action.

When Joffery became king he treated her badly but she still loved him regardless. At some point in the movie it became clear that the love she had for them was beyond ordinary as issues surrounding their wellbeing takes utmost importance even if it was at the expense of the entire realm.

She repeatedly stated it in the series that *every decision she made was solely because of her children. Going back to the first season of the series, the reason Ned Stark was arrested and executed was because He confronted her about the legitimacy of her children and feeling threatened by this, she manipulated the whole thing to protect them.

In the end, Cercei lost all three of her children to the cruel hands of death, the first two by her enemies and the last Tomman commited suicide. However it is important to note that her cruelty was not the only reason she was never really her true nature, she was just a mother who only wanted to keep her children safe.
Thank you all for stopping by

Cersei Lannister exquisitely well written although I agree with the seasons I think the problem comes being the affection of the audience for the characters, she I think I would have liked to see her slaughter Tyrion haha, Tyrion one of the reasons that made the last season not work among other things etc.

The point is I also enjoyed seeing her naked in addition to her badassery, I would just leave her hair long.

Otherwise I think we got everything from her, I have much appreciation for what she gave us and the audience that wanted to see her suffer saw her lose her children, that alone is enough 😎

You enjoyed seeing her naked???? Not me though I rejoice to her pain
But I do have to agree that long hair looked better on her than the short.
Anyway thanks for stopping by really happy you agreed that she was a loving mother even though most fans of the series were happy she lost all of em

Great perspective of the character that is Cersei Lannister. Honestly we cannot deny that she was a mother underneath all her nastiness
Good one

Truly she was
It was her greatest strength and also her weakness as well
