“Dreams of Violets”, signs of a cinematic metamorphosis.
Film festivals around the world are pioneers in releasing movies with some kind of controversy that end up having (and bringing) a strong psychological and behavioral aspect to the debate table. This year is no different, and one of the festivals doing this is one of the most renowned worldwide: the Tribeca Film Festival, through the selection of the movie Dreams of Violets, a drama that was entirely created through the use of artificial intelligence.
Could a trend be emerging?
In short, the movie's plot (which has a documentary slant) portrays Iranian civil resistance, focusing on the protests that took place in Tehran (in January of this year). All of this happens from the perspective of a ten-year-old child (who has cerebral palsy) named Amir. Through the window, he witnesses the brutal execution of five Iranians. A dramatic approach that came to life in cinema without using any human being in front of the cameras. I liked the creative audacity.
According to brothers Ash and Pooya Koosha (who are the directors of this movie), the idea for the project came to them after they read different articles about the bloody massacre that was taking place between Iranian authorities and civilians (which came to an "end" with at least 7,000 people dead and more than 50,000 people imprisoned). As for the way of filming, they wanted to create a "human" project that ironically was not starring real human beings. A heavy touch of irony, right?
The option of using artificial intelligence was an interesting idea, mainly because it optimized the entire filming process (which, by the way, cost only US$ 2,000 to produce entirely). Fountain 0 was the studio responsible for producing this project, and the movie is already being considered a kind of "cinematic milestone," as it was the first live-action feature movie generated by artificial intelligence to be officially recognized by a renowned international festival.
Technically speaking, all the AI-based programs (beyond the "arsenal" of technology that Fountain 0 used to frame and achieve precise shots for the project) used to turn the movie into a digital reality were: Kling AI (video generation), Claude AI (language editing), Gemini and Nanobanana (search and images). There is no doubt that cinema is truly experiencing a major metamorphosis of enormous proportions (which, to date, is immeasurable in its magnitude).

Este año no es la excepción, y uno de los festivales que lo hace es uno de los más prestigiosos a nivel mundial: el Festival de Cine de Tribeca, con la selección de la película Dreams of Violets, un drama creado íntegramente mediante inteligencia artificial.

En resumen, la trama de la película (con un enfoque documental) retrata la resistencia civil iraní, centrándose en las protestas que tuvieron lugar en Teherán en enero de este año. Todo se narra desde la perspectiva de Amir, un niño de diez años con parálisis cerebral. A través de la ventana, presencia la brutal ejecución de cinco iraníes. Un enfoque dramático que cobró vida en la pantalla sin utilizar actores reales. Me gustó la audacia creativa.

Técnicamente hablando, todos los programas basados en IA (más allá del arsenal tecnológico que Fountain 0 utilizó para encuadrar y lograr tomas precisas) empleados para convertir la película en realidad digital fueron: Kling AI (generación de vídeo), Claude AI (edición de audio), Gemini y Nanobanana (búsqueda e imágenes). No cabe duda de que el cine está experimentando una metamorfosis de enormes proporciones (que, hasta la fecha, es inconmensurable en su magnitud).

Este ano não as coisas não estão sendo diferente, e um dos festivais que está fazendo isso é um dos mais renomados mundialmente: Festival de Tribeca, através da seleção do filme Dreams of Violets, drama que foi totalmente criado através do uso da inteligência artificial.

Em síntese, a trama do filme (que tem um viés documental) retrata a resistência civil iraniana, colocando em foco os protestos que aconteceram no Teerã (em janeiro deste ano). Tudo isso acontecendo sob o olhar de uma criança de dez anos (que tem paralisia cerebral) chamada Amir. Pela janela, ele acompanha a brutal execução de cinco iranianos. Uma abordagem dramática que ganhou vida dentro do cinema sem fazer uso de nenhum ser humano à frente das câmeras. Eu gostei da ousadia criativa.
Segundo os irmãos Ash e Pooya Koosha (que são os diretores desse filme), a ideia do projeto veio à mente deles depois que eles leram diferentes artigos sobre o sanguinário massacre que estava acontecendo entre autoridades iranianas e civis (que chegou ao “fim” com pelo menos 7.000 pessoas mortas e mais de 50.000 pessoas presas). Quando ao modo de filmar, eles queriam criar um projeto “humano” que ironicamente não fosse protagonizado por seres humanos reais. Um toque pesado de ironia, certo?

Buen post. Que se haya hecho una película completa con solo es algo dificil de imaginar, pero lo que realmente deja pensando es el trasfondo. Es una tremenda ironía, como dices, retratar una realidad tan cruda, humana y dolorosa como la resistencia en Irán sin usar un solo actor real frente a la cámara. Tribeca abriendo esta puerta marca un antes y un después. La metamorfosis ya está aquí, nos guste o no.
