We're continuing our soundtrack recommendations, and this time it's from a band whose songs I absolutely love. The fact that many of their songs have also been used as soundtracks in numerous TV series and films is even better for me, as it allows me to enjoy their music while also having songs associated with a particular movie.

Blondie was quite successful in their day. I remember listening to an old LP at a friend's house, who had a huge vinyl collection. He could afford them; I didn't even have a record player. So, back in my teenage years, when, in addition to rock, I was also open to listening to other genres and mixes, the important thing, just like now, was that I liked the song.

Of course, Blondie's use of the song "Call Me" for the film American Gigolo not only gave it wider exposure but also made it an international hit. The iconic film starring Richard Gere also had a recent TV series adaptation; I'm not sure if it was ultimately canceled. Obviously, the song also appeared in the series. I'm sharing it here so that those who remember the era of the film can relive old memories.

"One Way or Another" is one of my favorite songs by the band because it's so fun; its rhythm makes you want to have a good time. It's also been used in several movies, but the one I remember most is the scene from Coyote Ugly. Yes, that bad movie with beautiful women, a guilty pleasure, I know. There's a scene where a fight breaks out in the bar, absolute chaos, and the protagonist doesn't know how to calm things down, so she starts singing that song in the bar, which ends up making the place a hit, with those sexy women dancing for the cavemen who go crazy watching them and drinking.

A while ago I watched a series that recapped all the seasons of another of my favorite David Simon shows, The Deuce. The final sequence shows Vincent, now an old man, walking through the streets of New York, in that area where tourists now enjoy themselves with their families, full of candy stores, that whole area that today is a place of happy people taking photos for their social media. In the past, it was an area of ​​crime, mafia, prostitution, drugs, and where the pornography industry flourished. Vincent walks those streets, encountering the ghosts of his past. I loved that ending and, of course, Blondie's version of The Sidewalks of New York. Enjoy!
