When, less than 30 years ago, I was theorizing about the future of computers with my friends from the playground, no one expected anything like this. The internet, good radio connections, and some people partially succeeded with new hardware or its evolution. But will there be AI that significantly accelerates the development of human technology? What's the story?

What's more, just as it was on its release day, Doom remains one of the most important titles in Earth's history – something like A Space Odyssey, Gone with the Wind, or Ben-Hur for movies, or Frankenstein, or another Lord of the Rings for books. Thanks to it, we're exploring the limits of console capabilities and learning new things (one player played a Doom 1 port, powering his system with potato batteries XD). And it's all thanks to the fact that a group of nerds created a cult game decades ago.

Who knows where this experiment with flies will lead us. Maybe it will teach us the art of teleportation? XD

We still don't know what the price will be for a copy of the game. That's not the real deal, though, because gamers and non-gamers alike will buy GTA 6 regardless; it's too strong a brand for many to ignore. The main stakeholders are all companies, especially the large ones. If Rockstar charges $100 for the game, they'll have the right to charge a similar amount for a significantly inferior game. Some will disagree (but I personally consider these opinions to be pure whining and a misunderstanding of the industry), but unfortunately, life is what it is. Even during Quake 1's development (when was that!!??), games became astronomically expensive and demanding, and today it's much worse. If I get a long and complex game like WarCraft 3 (the campaign may not be long, but we still have hundreds of interesting custom games), Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, God of War 2018, and the like, I'm willing to pay $100. As long as they're slightly better than the examples mentioned above – more content is enough for me, as I enjoy spending a lot of time in my favorite universes.

But I can pay companies like that because I know they have a similar work ethic to good old-fashioned game companies. We want a long, interesting game that's well-thought-out. I don't have to agree with the creators' vision, and I don't always want to (that's actually more interesting!); I care above all about getting a full-fledged product that will keep me satisfied for years. $100 / PLN 300-400 (converted to Polish currency) really isn't an excessive price for a polished title.

CDPRed shared information regarding the number of employees developing their games. Unsurprisingly, Witcher 4 has the most employees – a total of 499. Project Sirius, or Witcher Multiplayer, gained new employees, and Project Hadar lost three. They were probably transferred to more important tasks on another game, normal.

I'll take this opportunity to mention DLC. According to the latest reports, DLC has been included in the schedule for this year. It doesn't look like a new game, but a continuation of an already known adventure. As I've said many times, I'm betting it's a sure thing. Kiedy mniej niż 30 lat temu, snułem teorie o przyszłości komputerów z kolegami z podwórka, nikt nie spodziewał się czegoś takiego. Zdarzył się internet, dobre połączenie radiowe, niektórzy częściowo trafili z nowym sprzętem lub jego ewolucją. Ale że będzie AI, które znacząco przyspieszy rozwój ludzkiej technologii? A gdzie tam!

Co więcej, tak jak w dniu premiery, tak i dziś, Doom pozostaje jednym z najważniejszych tytułów w historii Ziemi - coś jak Odyseja Kosmiczna, Przeminęło z Wiatrem, czy Ben Hur dla filmów lub Frankenstein, czy inny Władca Pierścieni dla książek. Dzięki niemu poznajemy granice możliwości konsol, dowiadujemy się nowych rzeczy (jeden z graczy zagrał w konwersję Doom 1, zasilając sprzęt bateriami z ziemniaków XD). A to wszystko dzięki temu, że kilkadziesiąt lat temu, grupa nerdów stworzyła kultową grę.

Kto wie, do czego doprowadzi nas ten eksperyment z muchami. Może to dzięki niemu poznamy sztukę teleportacji? XD

Tak w ramach przypomnienia, gry GTA trafiają na PC z opóźnieniem. Jeśli Rockstar zrobi wszystko swoim standardowym tempem, to posiadacze PC dostaną grę w listopadzie 2027.

Ciągle też nie wiemy, jaka będzie cena za kopię gry. Nie to jest jednak naprawdę ciekawe, bo gracze i nie gracze kupią GTA 6 tak czy siak, to zbyt silna marka, by wielu przeszło wobec niej obojętnie. Głównymi zainteresowanymi są wszystkie firmy, głównie te duże. Jeśli Rockstar zawoła za grę 100 $, one uzyskają prawo do rzucenia podobną kwotę za znacznie gorszą grę. Niektórzy się nie zgodzą (ale osobiście uważam te opinie za zwykłe marudzenie i nierozumienie branży), ale niestety życie jest, jakie jest. Już w trakcie tworzenia Quake'a 1 (kiedy to było!!??) gry stały się kosmicznie drogie i wymagające, a dzisiaj jest znacznie gorzej. Jeśli dostanę długą i złożoną grę, jak WarCraft 3 (kampania może nie jest długa, ale mamy jeszcze setki ciekawych custom games), Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, God of War 2018 i im podobne, to mogę płacić 100 dolarów. O ile będą nieco lepsze niż w/w przykłady - mi wystarczy więcej treści, bo lubię spędzać dużo czasu w ulubionych uniwersach.

Tylko że takim firmom mogę zapłacić, bo wiem że kierują się podobną etyką pracy, co stare, dobre firmy tworzące gry. Mamy dostać odpowiednio długą, ciekawą grę, która będzie przemyślana. Nie muszę się zgadzać z wizją twórców i nie zawsze chcę (dzięki temu jest wręcz ciekawiej!), zależy mi przede wszystkim na dostaniu pełnowartościowego produktu, który nasyci mnie na lata. 100 dolarów / 300-400 PLN (po przeliczeniu na polską walutę) to naprawdę nie jest wygórowana cena za dopracowany tytuł.
