The Great Mazinkaiser! [ES - EN]
De los muchos géneros de anime que de niño me gustaban de ver, el "Mecha" era el principal, eso era debido por el que considero cómo el mejor, me refiero a Mazinger Z, el primer anime que vi y que pude disfrutar en todos sus episodios. Esta gran historia creada por Go Nagay, hace 51 años se ha mantenido en el tiempo por diferentes proyectos, los cuales algunos están relacionados de manera directa con el manga y anime original y otros en dónde se demuestra una visión diferente de toda esta historia; justamente en esta oportunidad haré reseña de un spin-off, una historia que demuestra una nueva visión de esta lucha entre el bien y el mal, todo desde la aparición de una poderosa arma que podrá ser el salvador o destructor.
Of the many genres of anime that I liked to watch as a child, "Mecha" was the main one, that's why I consider it the best, I mean Mazinger Z, the first anime I saw and that I could enjoy in all its episodes. This great story created by Go Nagay, 51 years ago has been maintained over time by different projects, some of which are directly related to the original manga and anime and others where a different vision of this whole story is shown; just on this occasion I will review a spin-off, a story that shows a new vision of this struggle between good and evil, all from the appearance of a powerful weapon that can be the savior or destroyer.
Para el año 2001, el estudio de animación, "Brain's Base", junto al director Masahiko Murata y el guionista Shinzo Fujita decidieron revitalizar el anime que considero pionero en la fama que obtuvo ese estilo de producción japonesa en este lado del mundo; la gran diferencia es que en esta oportunidad, en vez de "Mazinger Z" o su poderoso relevo, "Great Mazinger", el gran protagonista, es un nuevo robot, una versión mejorada y más poderosa que los dos antes citados, ese robot será conocido como "Mazinkaiser".
For the year 2001, the animation studio, "Brain's Base", along with the director Masahiko Murata and the screenwriter Shinzo Fujita decided to revitalize the anime that I consider pioneer in the fame that this style of Japanese production obtained on this side of the world; the great difference is that this time, instead of "Mazinger Z" or its powerful replacement, "Great Mazinger", the great protagonist, is a new robot, a better and more powerful version than the two previously mentioned, that robot will be known as "Mazinkaiser".
Posiblemente en términos de historia no sea el mejor; lo que considero más notable del trabajo de Fujita como guionista está referenciado a los dos primeros episodios, eso más que nada porque obvian el hacer introducción a cada uno de estos personajes o de hacer canónica está historia; justamente eso me pareció interesante, me refiero a ver a dos poderosos robots, dos intrépidos y heroicos pilotos, enfrentarse a los motivados e incansables villanos, como son "Dr. Hell" y "Baron Ashura", los cuales creen en sus pocas posibilidades, pero de igual manera son exitosos, el único problema es que sus rivales también son constantes y mejores, es por eso que sin tener ningún conocimiento, la aparición de Mazinkaiser será el verdadero punto de inflexión para este anime.
En el anterior párrafo hice referencia a una parte de la historia que considero positivo, el problema o lo que menos me gustó del OVA es la cantidad de episodios que considero de relleno, hasta tres episodios que no aporta nada para hacerla interesante y sí para cumplir con el fanservice. Esta es una historia corta (la cual pudo serlo más) a causa del personaje que da el título a esta producción y es que para bien y para mal, todo depende de cómo fue creado Mazinkaiser, me refiero al poder que se decidió darle y es por eso que si querían hacer algo más, alargar la historia, preferiría que se desarrolle otras cosas como por ejemplo del Robot o en los motivos tanto de los villanos como de los héroes, ya que el final es más que conocido.
Possibly in terms of history it is not the best; what I consider more remarkable about the work of Fujita as a screenwriter is referenced to the first two episodes, that more than anything because they obviate the need to introduce each of these characters or make this story canonical; just that I found it interesting, I mean seeing two powerful robots, two intrepid and heroic pilots, face the motivated and tireless villains, such as "Dr. Hell" and "Baron Ashura", which believe in their few chances, but equally are successful, the only problem is that their rivals are also constant and better, that's why without any knowledge, the appearance of Mazinkaiser will be the true turning point for this anime.
In the previous paragraph I referred to a part of the story that I consider positive, the problem or what I liked least about the OVA is the number of episodes that I consider filler, up to three episodes that do not contribute anything to make it interesting and yes to meet the fanservice. This is a short story (which could have been shorter) because of the character that gives the title to this production and is that for better or for worse, everything depends on how Mazinkaiser was created, I mean the power that was decided to give it and that's why if they wanted to do something more, lengthen the story, I would prefer that other things be developed, such as the Robot or the motives of both villains and heroes, since the end is more than known.
La animación por parte de "Brain's Base" y la dirección de Murata es lo que más me gustó del anime; el diseño de los personajes es perfecto porque en mi opinión se hace homenaje al diseño que se pudo ver en el manga, lo otro es lo exagerado de la movilidad tanto de los personajes como de los Robots y las Bestias Mecánicas; justamente eso permite que las escenas de acción sea mejor y hasta las cómicas, más que nada protagonizadas por el personaje de "Boss" y su robot "Boss Borot"; no quiero dejar atrás el hacer más tenebrosos a los villanos, el diseño de Dr. Hell y del Baron Ashura, es perfecto al igual que todas las criaturas que crean para crear caos y buscar derrotar a Koji y en esta oportunidad a Mazinkaiser, visualmente este anime está muy bien realizado.
I liked the animation by "Brain's Base" and the direction of Murata the most about the anime; the character design is perfect because, in my opinion, it pays homage to the design that could be seen in the manga, the other thing is the exaggeration of the mobility of both the characters and the Robots and the Mechanical Beasts; precisely that allows the action scenes to be better and even the comic ones, mostly starring the character of "Boss" and his robot "Boss Borot"; I don't want to leave behind making the villains more sinister, the design of Dr. Hell and Baron Ashura is perfect, just like all the creatures they create to create chaos and try to defeat Koji and, this time, Mazinkaiser, this anime is very well done visually.
Esta nueva visión de esta guerra entre el bien y el mal usando a robots y criaturas monstruosas, no solo se conforma con los siete episodios del OVA, su éxito hizo que "Brain's Base" un año después continuará y finalizará está historia usando los acontecimientos que se vieron en el film animado estrenado en 1974, llamado "Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness", pero en esta oportunidad, el título cambiaría a "Mazinkaiser vs. Shogun of Darkness"; está película se estrenó en 2003, un año después de finalizar el OVA y en dónde hubo un cambio en el guionista, siendo Satoru Nishizono quien se encargaría de ese rol; en la dirección se mantuvo Murata quien haría un excelente trabajo, hizo un film muy dinámico, dramático, mucha acción y buenas escenas de combate, la característica que más me gustó fue que el diseño de los personajes cambia y por ejemplo el aspecto de "Koji" es igual al del anime de la época del 70' y eso me creó mucha nostalgia; en mi opinión fue una gran idea para terminar el arco de Koji y Mazinkaiser. Existe otro proyecto en dónde este gran robot es protagonista, uno muy alejado a lo que se observa del OVA y del film a que hago reseña en esta oportunidad, ese proyecto es conocido como "Mazinkaizer SKL" y cuenta con tres OVAS y la publicación de un manga; en los próximos días podré leer y ver lo referente a esa producción y regresaré para compartir mi opinión con ustedes.

There is another project where this great robot is the protagonist, one very far from what is seen in the OVA and the movie that I review at this time, that project is known as "Mazinkaizer SKL" and has three OVAs and the publication of a manga; in the next few days I will be able to read and see what is related to that production and return to share my opinion with you.

I'm not a fan of mecha, but anime like Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu and Code Geass grabbed me for a while and made me understand that it is a very serious genre that has given a lot to the world of anime.
Mazinkaiser looks amazing, I'll keep it in mind for the future, I don't doubt it will be super good.

Currently there are not many anime or I have not seen new mecha anime, the only one that along with Mazinger Z has been maintained over time is Mobile Suit Gundam, but it is difficult for me that in so many new and attractive anime none is of that genre, but yes, stories like Mazinger Z, Robotech and Evangelion, have given much to anime.

No soy mucho de ver animes mechas, me gustan más los Isekai, fantasía, acción e incluso artes marciales. Creo que el único Mecha que he visto es Zoids, me gustó mucho en su momento, lo ví en mi infancia y lo disfruté bastante. Está también me suena como que si lo he visto, pero no recuerdo.

Mazinger Z, junto a muchos otros animes mecha famosos en los 70' y que tuvieron fama en latinoamérica en los 80' usan una fórmula muy parecida en todas sus historias; es una idea que se explotó y duro lo suficiente, seguro por eso tenga la noción que la vio en algún momento.
Zoids es muy buena, aunque después le perdí el rastro a causa de los spin-off, creo que pronto se estrenará una versión mejorada de ese anime.
Si puede que la haya visto por allí, pero de momento no lo recuerdo.

Es una buena historia, simple, repetitiva,pero entretenida.
Mazinger es un personaje con mucha fama, es un verdadero clásico y se ha realizado otras versiones más que espero ver pronto.

Oh my god, pure longing. That anime along with Voltus 5 and Astroboy were my beginnings in anime when I was little.
A few days ago I got nostalgic because before the release of Mazinkaiser, three short films called "Go Nagay Dynamic Super Battle Robots" were released, featuring Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendaizer, Vengador and others.
That finally made me decide to finish watching Mazinkaiser and watch Shin Mazinger Z, a 26-episode anime released in 2009; I hope to do a review of that anime soon.

I didn't know there was anything beyond the great mazinger until, I know of its existence since my dad was a big fan of this series called Mazinger Z so much that I gave my sister the middle name of one of the robots of the series called Doreley. I'm not a big fan of mecha but a favorite anime of this type is Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, if you haven't seen it I recommend it. Good post <3

You can inform your father that there are other anime, first of all there is a 26 episode anime called "Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z hen", then there is a spin-off Mazinkaiser SKL and finally the film that is a direct continuation of the original anime, Mazinger Z: Infinity.
