Is the third season of Alice in Borderland any good?

Buenos días, buenas tardes o buenas noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo están? ¿Cómo se encuentran el día de hoy? Espero que muy bien. Yo particularmente ando desaparecido por tener que andar haciendo cosas de la universidad, lo siento, es mi culpa por no hacer las actividades a tiempo pero qué se le puede hacer. Ya teniendo un poco de tiempo libre pude ver algunas series; por lo que pude ver la nueva temporada de Alice in Borderland que esta vez abarca el manga continuación del autor, donde ya vemos a nuestro protagonista más grande, casado y con un hijo por venir, evidentemente deberá volver a Borderland y enfrentarse otra vez a los juegos, aunque de cierta manera acá todo se siente un poco diferente. El impacto y la manera en que llevan todo simplemente se siente distinto, quizás sea porque tenemos un personaje ya experimentado, capaz de salvar a los demás con sus habilidades que adquirió en el pasado o quizás es que todo se siente más plano al centrarse más en mostrar los juegos que otra cosa. Ya luego con el final que quisieron darle, no te cuento; que yo sepa el autor no ha hecho un spin-off en Estados Unidos, pero lo de Netflix tiene la tendencia de querer hacer lo mismo cuando de juegos mortales se trata, por lo que veo.

I, particularly, have been absent because I've had to be busy with university things, I'm sorry, it's my fault for not doing the activities on time, but what can you do.

Now, having a bit of free time, I managed to watch some series, so I saw the new season of Alice in Borderland. This time it covers the continuation of the author's manga, where we now see our protagonist older, married, and with a child on the way. Evidently, he must return to Borderland and face the games again, although in a certain way, everything feels a bit different here. The impact and the way they handle everything simply feels distinct; perhaps it's because we have an experienced character, capable of saving others with the skills he acquired in the past, or perhaps it's that everything feels flatter as it focuses more on showing the games than anything else.

And then, with the ending they wanted to give it, don't get me started. As far as I know, the author hasn't done a spin-off set in the United States, but Netflix has a tendency to want to do the same thing when it comes to deadly games, from what I can see.

La verdad siento que se sintió un poco desesperante ver la primera parte de esta temporada, ya que el protagonista no recuerda nada de lo que ocurrió porque técnicamente tú esperas que de cierta forma todos conecten entre sí y los personajes que ya vimos antes estén unidos ya sea por lo menos como amigos aunque con la resolución del final podría decirme que se me concedió mi deseo de cierta forma, Arisu haciendo de una especie de médico o psicólogo de los demás. Aunque lo que me pareció más extraño durante toda la temporada es esta especie de triángulo amoroso que se intentan inventar que simplemente no se siente convincente y es más bien raro en todos los sentidos, ya que el personaje con el que ocurre esto simplemente no sabe lo que quiere, vemos que se arrepiente de una decisión para volver a retomarla para volver a querer hacerla para volver a arrepentirse, lo encontré demasiado dramático todo, creo que si eliminan esa especie de romance, no habría diferencia. Y es que como te conté el desarrollo acá, al solo tener 6 capítulos es nulo. Por ejemplo Usagi tiene un problema con el fantasma de su padre que lo persigue en sueños pero esto simplemente se resuelve al final porque sí, lo que menos me hace sentido es cómo la convencieron de volver a Borderland, ¿quería estar muerta para estar cerca de su padre? Supongo.

Truthfully, I felt that watching the first part of this season was a bit desperate, since the protagonist doesn't remember anything that happened because, technically, you expect that in some way they would all connect with each other and the characters we've already seen before would be united, at least as friends. Although with the resolution at the end, I could tell myself that my wish was granted in a way, with Arisu acting as a sort of doctor or psychologist for the others.

Although what I found strangest throughout the whole season is this sort of love triangle they're trying to invent that simply doesn't feel convincing and is rather odd in every sense, since the character involved simply doesn't know what they want; we see them regret a decision, then take it back, then want to do it again, then regret it again. I found it all too dramatic; I think if they removed that sort of romance, it wouldn't make a difference.

And it's that, as I told you, the development here, with there only being 6 episodes, is non-existent. For example, Usagi has a problem with the ghost of her father that haunts her in her dreams, but this is simply resolved at the end just because. What makes the least sense to me is how they convinced her to return to Borderland; did she want to be dead to be close to her father? I suppose.

Tengo entendido que tanto el actor de Arisu como la actriz de Usagi están bastante encariñados con sus personajes, creo que seguir o hacer lo mismo que planean hacer con la serie de juegos coreanos sería un grave error, quitar a tu icónico protagonista también, si todos vimos esta temporada es para ver qué le pasó a él y a los demás. Ahora ver una americanización que seguramente va a tener gracia alguna, sería un rotundo no de mi parte. Quizás para hacerlo más pasable sería hacer una especie de mezcla donde los protagonistas viajen y ocurra una catástrofe y guíen a personas de otro país, estaría un poco mejor pero igualmente se sentiría a seguir forzando la franquicia. Aunque lo que yo no entiendo es qué tanto puede costar tratar de adaptar el spin-off que queda restante, aún tienen material original por usar antes de ponerse a inventar. La única forma de que triunfe una supuesta continuación depende de qué tan involucrado esté el autor de la obra. Aún no está confirmado nada aún, pero con ese cierre con ese personaje llamado Alice da a entender que vamos a por más, saben que tienen una mina de oro y ahora pueden ganar más con los esto que con su otra serie de juegos a quienes sus espectadores nadie les gustó el final. Veremos qué acontece próximamente, quién sabe.

I understand that both the actor who plays Arisu and the actress who plays Usagi are quite fond of their characters. I think following or doing the same thing they plan to do with the Korean games series would be a serious mistake; removing your iconic protagonist would be too. If we all watched this season, it was to see what happened to him and the others. So, seeing an Americanisation that will surely be of little amusement would be a definite 'no' from me.

Perhaps to make it more palatable, they could do a kind of mix where the protagonists travel and a catastrophe occurs, and they guide people from another country. That would be a bit better, but it would still feel like they're forcing the franchise.

Although what I don't understand is how difficult it can be to try and adapt the remaining spin-off. They still have original material to use before they start inventing things. The only way a supposed continuation could succeed depends on how involved the author of the work is.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but that ending with that character called Alice implies that there's more to come. They know they have a goldmine and can now earn more with this than with their other games series, whose finale none of its viewers liked. We'll see what happens next, who knows.
