BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Sunday movie day at home and recognizing that not everything we see these days discredits the seventh art.

In just two days I enjoyed a miniseries entitled Land of the Mafia. It had been a while since I had seen this kind of movies where action, crime, murder, suspense, horror and even drama are mixed.

Obviously, in this particular genre and for the film to be really successful, it is necessary to have actors and actresses of very high stature. In my humble opinion, I believe that not all actors are cut out to make it in films like these.

BREVE INTRODUCCIÓN

Día domingo de cine en casa y reconociendo que no todo lo que vemos actualmente desacredita al séptimo arte.

En tan solo dos días disfruté de una miniserie titulada Tierra de Mafia. Tenía rato sin ver este tipo de películas donde se mezcla acción, crímenes, asesinatos, suspenso, horror y hasta drama.

Obviamente, en este género en particular y para que realmente el film sea exitoso, hace falta contar con actores y actrices de tallas muy altas. Desde mi humilde opinión creo que no todos los actores están ganados para salir airosos con roles como estos.

PARTNERS OF THE MAFIA

Having said that, I will now introduce two of the protagonists of Mafia Land. Undoubtedly high level actors that make this film capture many moviegoers.

I am talking about none other than Pierce Brosnan, the famous Jame Bond, agent 007, Conrad Harrigan in the series and Helen Mirren from The Queen, playing Conrad's wife Maeve Harrigan. Both actors with masterful and emotional presence, make and act as an explosive couple but not like those of Die Hard but something more intense, as two great mobsters who look at crime in a cold, frivolous, own twisted minds.

Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, husband and wife Harrigan are impossible to disobey, one could say: "hard to kill at the moment of ordering".

SOCIOS DE LA MAFIA

Dicho esto paso a presentar a dos de los protagonistas de Tierra de Mafia. Sin duda alguna actores de alto nivel que hacen que esta película capte muchos cinéfilos.

Les hablo nada más y nada menos que de Pierce Brosnan, el famoso Jame Bond, agente 007, Conrad Harrigan en la serie y Helen Mirren la misma de The Queen, interpretando a Maeve Harrigan esposa de Conrad. Ambos actores con presencia magistral y emotiva, hacen y actúan como una pareja explosiva pero no como las de Duros de Matar sino algo más intenso, como dos grandes mafiosos que miran el crimen de una manera fría, frívola, propia de mentes retorcidas.

Pierce Brosnan y Helen Mirren, esposos Harrigan son imposibles de desobedecer, se podría decir: "duros de matar al momento de ordenar".

POWER LINKS

Two other extraordinary actors in the play are Tom Hardy as Harry Da Sousa and Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan. Both characters are united by a bond of friendship and also by some conflicts in which they were involved when they were much younger. Implicitly and in some moments of flashbacks the story of this pair is narrated, their background and even moments when they were in jail. Although this is not the main plot, they show the story so that each viewer can thread the content and we can understand the role of both.

This is the first season and only has seven chapters. The miniseries does not state that these characters are the real protagonists but their roles say a lot. It seems that both are in disagreement with the decisions of the Harrigan husband, they try to change some decisions but it is not easy for them. Will they be the good guys of this miniseries? Wasn't the past that keeps them together a good experience?

LAZOS DE PODER

Otros dos extraordinarios actores que participan en la obra son Tom Hardy como Harry Da Sousa and Paddy Considine como Kevin Harrigan. A ambos personajes los une un lazo de amistad desde y también algunos conflictos en lo que se involucraron estando mucho más jóvenes. Implícitamente y en algunos momentos de recuerdos se narra la historia de este par, sus antecedentes e incluso momentos cuando estuvieron en la cárcel. Aunque no es esta la trama principal, muestran la historia para que cada espectador vaya hilando el contenido y logramos entender el papel de ambos.

Esta es la primera temporada y tan solo carga siete capítulos. La miniserie no declara que sean estos personajes los verdaderos protagonistas pero, sus roles dicen mucho. Pareciera que ambos se muestran en desacuerdo con las decisiones de los esposo Harrigan, tratan de hacer cambiar algunas decisiones pero no se les hace fácil ¿Serán los buenos de esta miniserie? ¿Acaso ese pasado que los mantiene unido no fue tan buena experiencia?

I want to anticipate, although it is not my intention to make spoilers, that this film has excellent narrative power. In the first chapter I was almost disappointed by its fictional theme, not all fiction I like and for this reason it left me thinking. The other theme was to think about justice, power, loyalty since from the beginning we see strong scenes. Based on these arguments I decided to watch the second chapter.

What did catch me immediately were the sceneries, wonderful landscapes and luxurious mansions with spectacular views. The atmosphere perfectly matched the theme of the miniseries as well as the costumes and makeup. The dark, cold and hostile environment fit every detail. Impeccable.

Quiero anticipar, aunque no es mi intención hacer spoilers, que este films tiene excelente poder narrativo. En el primer capítulo casi salgo decepcionada por su tema de ficción, no todo tipo me ficción me gusta y por este motivo me dejó pensando. El otro tema fue pensar en la justicia, el poder, la lealtad ya que desde el inicio vemos escenas fuertes. Con base a esos argumentos decidí ver el segundo capítulo.

Lo que si logró atraparme de inmediato fueron los escenarios, paisajes maravillosos y mansiones lujosas con vistas espectaculares. El ambiente se acopló perfectamente al tema de la miniserie además de los vestuarios y maquillaje. El ambiente oscuro, frío y hostil, se ajusta a cada detalle. Impecable.

DECEPTIVE INNOCENCE

Anson Boon is Eddie Harrigan, grandson of the Harrigan husband and wife, another character with a twisted mind, addicted to drugs, with an emotional drama that has marked his life and apparently the cause of his behavior.

This character is the pride of the grandmother, has inherited the lack of scruples and has reached the point of committing the worst crimes.

The attitude of this young man has desired the fury of two families with years of conflicts. The young man murdered the son of Conrad's worst enemy and from then on, the actions are not long in coming. The climate of mistrust accelerates, so much so, that even the most precious within the family may appear to be an intruder or spy.

Anson's performance is also impeccable. His unforced role takes him to a level as high as that of the main characters. Honestly, the entire cast as he pointed out at the beginning must be up to the task to deliver because otherwise the idea collapses and the good news is that they are all exceptional.

If you haven't seen this miniseries yet, don't miss it. It's the first season and better things are sure to come.

Anson Boon es Eddie Harrigan, nieto de los esposos Harrigan otro personaje de mente retorcida, adicto a las drogas, con un drama emocional que ha marcado su vida y al parecer la causa de su comportamiento.

INOCENCIA ENGAÑOSA

Este personaje es el orgullo de la abuela, ha heredado la falta de escrúpulo y ha llegado al punto de cometer los peores crímenes.

La actitud de este joven ha deseado la furia de dos familias con años de conflictos. El joven asesinó al hijo del peor enemigo de Conrad y a partir de ahí, las acciones no se hacen esperar. El clima de desconfianza se acelera, tanto, que hasta el más preciado dentro de la familia puede parecer un intruso o espía.

La actuación Anson también es impecable. Su papel nada forzado lo lleva a un nivel tan alto como el de los personajes principales. Sinceramente, todo el elenco como lo señaló al inicio deben estar a la altura para dar la talla porque de lo contrario se derrumba la idea y la buena noticia es que todos son excepcionales.

Si aún no has visto esta miniserie no te la pierdas. Es la primera temporada y seguro vienen cosas mejores.
